I was going to get the Shure PGA 181 about a month ago, but instead I gambled on the Zoom ZDM 1dynamic mic for $50...boy, what a deal at SW...it sounds just like my $300 heil PR40 andI would swear that they came from the same factory. I would now rate the Zoom towards the top of my mics. Grab it while it's on sale and I think you will be surprised how good it sounds and build quality.

Can you give me straight recommendation which is the best mic in ~130 bucks range at the moment, in your opinion, for narrations and at the same time for recording guitars and maybe some other musical instruments (like piano and sax)? Time sure flies by, years passed, but I was still using some shitty mics without sound card. Finally want to change that for something better.
Thanks for doing this video.... I just ordered the MXL 990 and the 991 Combo.... can't wait to try them out . I am also looking at the Shure PGA 181... ( big Shure fan ) . From what I hear... the Shure PGA 181 is not as Bright compared to the MXL 990 ... they both sound good with your voice ...

Thanks for the vid...i have a reasonably well calibrated sound/home theatre and the pga181 is by far the best...imvho Also by rotating off axis to your mouth...depending on mic...you ate going to be reducing freq response a lot
