Thank you all! John your WERKS video is wonderful as are the lingering pictures in my mind of your beautiful system with panels in back with arrow banana jack layouts & your elegant logos, well done! Yes I hung out in Mabuhay Gardens watching partying w' Devo in San Francisco before their first record deal... a 45 rpm of, "Are We Not Men" which of course went viral and the rest is history. I must have listened to that single on my turntable (400) times easy! Exciting times!
'see those whacked out waveforms, those arnt your daddy's waveforms' - 11/10, actual lol. great video, FM synthesis is the devils ointment, thanks for demystifying it a little.
8:00 min. Nice example. On a normal oscillator, the audio goes silent when the frequency goes to 0 Hz . So it’s like the carrier wave is being Amplitude modulated by a square wave that has values zero and one. But if you do this, you still don’t get through zero modulation. The oscillator has to actually reverse smoothly with no glitch from positive to negative when it goes through zero. Otherwise you just get regular FM that got amplitude modulated. So it’s very important that that square wave amplitude modulation glitch is not there on each phase reversal Through zero. The actual through zero oscillator circuit with the reversing Schmitt trigger is a really neat idea.
Depends on what you're after; and I loved some of the none-through-zero sounds. But, for making a melodic lead and actually play something I'd go with through-zero.
I love watching your videos and listening you explain this stuff! You make it so clear Love your explaination of Chowning FM and Mandelbrot Fractals - (they both occured at about the same time - 1973 - according to what I found online) of the two variables causing hugh variations in the graphical / sonic universe!
"Those aren't your daddy's waveforms from the Heathkit!" Excellent video- I thought I was pretty good at Zeroscillating but I didn't quite understand the the function of the DC vs AC input until this video. Thanks so much for making this! I'd love to see more demos of time reversal and the sonic possibilities as you see them.
Very nice demo! I've had a MOTM Zeroscillator for quite a while now (purchased used) but haven't yet taken the time to "figure it out", but when I do I will make a demo video also. I enjoyed your humorous style here and I was reminded of Drew Toothpaste for some reason. I was waiting for you to say something like "Let your modulation pass through zero 5 times . . . 5 times makes it clean." ;-)
Pretty damned funny presentation, ha ha! I have a Zero in Eurorack format, it is one seriously cool module. Great sounding, and many, many possibilities for mayhem. Wish I could afford one of the Wiard format duos.
I have a long demo that gets a bit musical at the end (after 14:20 to the end), but I was only scratching the surface of possibilities. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kAlMt42g8U8.html
well that was one of the most annoying infomercials i've ever watched. Edit - what a surprise that hard sell comes from a bankrupt former pornographer who never filled module orders lmfao
+monzon marcelo ...not to mention you worded that "irrelevant" question in the most insensetive way possible. Your narrow-minded inquiry shouldn't even be entertained, but regardless I'll try to put things in perspective: you can see that her name's "Cynthia", right? Ok, there's your answer...
