Absolutely. Beeing a father this scene makes me cry like a little boy everytime with the idea that someday I will have to definitely separate from my children.
I don't know how someone can be bored by this movie. This is a very rare love story. Its not a traditional love story between lovers. Its the love story of a father and his child. The final scene is everything. Sad, happy, mind blowing, life affirming, joyful, and utterly heartbreaking. I wish more movies focused on these untraditional love stories. Love stories between siblings, friends, parents, and children. Everyone knows not to believe in 'happily ever after' but stories like this (excluding the time traveling) show truthful everyday love. Its painful but beautiful. Most people will lose their parents but as much as they want to go back and be with them they have to move on and create a new life.
I think it is also story about how a man learns to love his own life, a love story about a man and his life. He learned to love his life through loving those in his life.

This scene brings grown men to tears. Make sure you tell the people you love what makes them special to you and why you care about them so much. Too many of those talks are had at funeral parlors rather than living rooms. I love that my dad is always there for me, willing to help me, genuinely excited when things go well, genuinely crushed when things go poorly. Here’s to my dad. I love you...my dad.
I cried a lot when i've read your comment. I never lost someone i love. I always think that i'm not strong enough to handle losing my dad. I think that people like you are so so strong that i van't describe. Really would love to chat with someone who has lost her parents early like you.
Breaks me apart every time I see it. Those wonderful moments I had with my children that are now lost "like tears in rain" as someone once said. I'd give anything to relive those beautiful moments.
I lost my dad 5 month ago and watched this film before he died and me and my dad did everything together. Guys if u lost your dad he will still be looking dawn at you and taking care ov you and standing bye your side and talking to you .my dad was amazing and wonderful I wish I can see him again.
I just rewatched this movie. My second time, my parents first time. I love my dad so much. I can only hope I one day become as good a man as him. As he always taught me to.
My dad passed away 2 days ago. I am devastated. He raised me up all by himself. Worked so hard to give me a decent education. When I settled down and got my own house, he still comes over to buy new applicances to give my family a comfortable life. He thought of me every step of the way. There is a pain in my heart that wont go away no matter how hard I cry. I miss him so much. So, so much. :-(
I've watched this movie SO many times now, & I love it as much today as I did the first time. The characters are so lovable. I love the relationship between Tim & his family..especially Dad. And at the end, when Posey keeps waving... SO in love with this family!!
This scene reminded me how I used to live with my foster parents who passed away in the summer vacation of 2008. Dad taught me a lot of life saving skills & techniques he learnt from the British Army & the SAS. I found them extremely useful in my life. I'm married to a girl of my life since 2012, I'll teach those skills to my adopted son when he reaches 5.
I have never cried during a movie but this freaking one had to go and be different. Every time I watch this scene gets me started. Pulls at the heart strings I suppose.
I cried during this scene, because it would take tremendous strength to have this ability to revisit the ones you've lost, and just...let go of it. I don't think I'd be strong enough for that. Excellent film.
This plot line was what I enjoyed about the movie to be honest, the father is both happy for him that he is having a baby and devastated that he knows he and his son can’t meet again to spend more time together.
As a father of two sons i fall apart at this scene. All those perfect moments with my boys now behind me. Cherish them when they're little. Mine grew up to be angels but I miss them as little people.

Not a comment you will see from a prank channel. I watched it and this scene literally made me cry. It made my regret being such a dick to my dad. My dads health recently has been deteriorating and watching this hit me. I'm grateful for everything my parents have done for me and this movie taught me so many lessons about life. I recommend this movie to anyone who comes across it. This scene made me cry more than the Lion King and Click combined.
I don't think it's an exaggeration to say this is one of the most poignant scenes in the history of cinema. Right up there with the home video footage of the young boy who grew up to die of AIDS at the end of "Philadelphia " .
I mean in the rules of the film the start of the scene works so well because hes effectively saying goodbye to his dad for the last time, because he will never be able to go further back than the birth of his last kid, and his father already died at that point.... but they they go back to the beach.... so his first two kids would have been a different sperm and a different egg. And if thats not a issue than why would he even care about doing it again just to see his dad.
Watching this scene after the funeral of my grandfather....... Makes me think how precious are the little moments, it's not about the great scenes or the fun times, it's the little things that truly matters
I would do anything for this, to have a meaningful goodbye with my parents. Don't be fooled by how movies and tv shows depict death. It is so so vary rare that people get to talk out their feelings before losing loved ones. The departing are usually too ill to communicate and the survivors too in shock and in emotional pain. Let your loved ones know how you feel now!
I rewatched this movie and completely forgot about this. This part is sad in itself but having lost my sister not even a year ago makes it hurt even more. I can only imagine how hard it would be to know it is your last time to visit someone you know is gone. And then I think how wonderful it would to have that opportunity to begin with.
I think the beautiful thing about this scene is this: Tim goes back in time to when his dad is younger, meaning his dad had this memory of their goodbye until he passed away, which made him cherish the moments and memories with his son after this day. ❤️
Quiet Mav if he meet his dad again after third child is born. Then by the time he returned to reality after meeting his dad, his original child will change and won’t be the same child anymore. That’s my understanding
Cockoff Gewgle From what I remember it has something to do with the timing of when the children were born. I think since his first two children were born before the death of his father, his time traveling didn't affect them. This is their third child and the timing issue is what makes him no longer able to time travel to *before* his dad died. He has to pick between having another child and never seeing his dad again.
@@mattbrown3757 He can't go back to before any of his children were born as it will result in a different child being born. That's the rule they establish. His Dad gets cancer after the birth of his second child, so he can go back to any time in the last couple of years (or however old his youngest is) to spend time with his dead Father. A new child means he can't do that anymore. The big cheat is when he and his Dad go back to when Tim was a child for the walk on the beach, as that violates this rule and means all of Tim's children would be randomised again.
