JUST found out that the liner thickness measuring scale of P20 & P25 are VERY old methods of measuring liner thickness and "mil" thickness IS the current, 2023, method, with 21 to 24 mil's being the upper end of safe and 25/28/& 30 mil being above the upper end of safe scale. 👍
I backwash my sand filter when I feel it is not coming out at a good rate. The pressure gauge has not been a good indicator for me. I think I do it every 2.5 weeks or so.
DE filters are rare in the south. They provide a very fine rate of filtration but the maintenance requirements have given them a backseat to sand and cartridge
DE is a hazardous material and has special handling needs. It is also a known carcinogen. There are non hazardous substitutes for DE but for the improved filtration (15micron for cartridge vs 4 micron for DE), its not worth the extra work
1 hp ( horse power is 746 watts) and you buy KW (kilo watts- kilo meaning 1000.- and then watts. 1 kilo watts is 1000 watts. What I think he is saying your moving more water faster through the filter so the pools cleans up faster. It would be cheaper to operate if indeed the pump ran less but that's the only way. I don't know much about pools although I have one but the electrical part of the story I know very well. Retired now but spent my life time in the trade from wiring house's in the late 70's, to finishing up at a utility co working on power lines.
