Where does the magical word ABRACADABRA come from? Well, 2nd century AD Latin, perhaps, if not from an earlier and more eastern source. The magic of this word comes from dispelling fevers, with a clever disappearing act of its own. Abracadabra, hocus pocus, make this fever get away from us!

Hocus pocus is from "Hoc est corpus" as in This is the body (of Christ) its a protestant mocking of the catholic doctrine of transubstantiation, that is that the bread of the eucharist is actually the physical body of Christ.

That suggestion was made by a 17th century Archbishop, but is not generally accepted.

Just yesterday I uploaded a story to Instagram with the music Abracadabra/ICHI, after not listening to it for like 2 years and it suddenly coming to my mind, and today you upload this video, lol at the odds.

If it comes from Hebrew, as you suggested, what is the meaning on that language?

It means something like “I create as I speak”. It’s an cabalistic magic frase. It derives from the idea that as God create everything with words, words have the power to creat things, when, we, humans, as we were created similarly to God, speak accordingly to cabalistic rituals. (This idea gain popularity and simply gives this capacity to any speech, and therefore, recommend people to be careful with words). Finally, the Cabala gives numeral value to words because when God create with words, he create units. This is the origin of Numerology.

@@gustavolimabragaprojetoiur5763 Thanks for the explanation. Could you tell the hebrew words for "I create as I speak" word by word, letter by letter, that became ABRACADABRA ? Thank you.

But how did it transition to become the word of magicians? Who read his book and made it popular?

Your greek letters pronunciation is wrong. The letter β is pronounced like “veta” (veetah) and not like “beta” (beeta). The letter γ is pronounced more like english h and not like g.

In modern Greek; in ancient Greek beta is pronounced as bee and gama as gee. That's why we have the Bible, not the Vivle.
