They've been on my bucket list for a couple of years... The moment I saw them on Instagram, I decided that I must see them with my own eyes one day. I'm talking about the frozen bubbles of Abraham Lake in Alberta.
This unique natural phenomenon is created when the methane gases, released by the plants at the bottom of the lake, are frozen.
To say it was surreal would be an understatement. Walking on the thick ice with millions of bubbles trapped inside was a truly unique experience.
The Abraham Lake is about three and a half hours of driving away both from Edmonton and Calgary. The frozen bubbles are a must see when you are in Alberta.
I have more videos coming up from Alberta, so make sure to subscribe to my channel: / theworldtraveler

Glad you had such a fun time in Alberta. I live about 45 minutes from Rocky Mountain House. You were in my neck of the woods! :) Abraham Lake is fantastic. I feel like we visited around the same time - your vlog and all that wind look very similar to mine! LOL

My only concern was the ice (is it strong enough?) But after seeing that thick layer, we relaxed and enjoyed this magnificent place to the fullest. We were there on January 20th.

Well made vidoe! we are glad you enjoyed it out here. We are quite spoiled with the beauty of Abraham Lake, Nordegg and Rocky Mountain House here in David Thompson Country. You lucked out with the weather because it is usually quite windy, and even -10 can have some pretty bad wind chills. #DTCountry

what month was that? I mean is it possible to see the bubbles on March?
@TheWorldTraveler
@TheWorldTraveler 4 года назад
It was mid January when we went there. The bubbles will still be there in March unless ice melts which is unlikely. However the best time to see bubbles is from late December to early February when the ice is clear. Later on bubbles are becoming less visible due to the ice conditions.

Sagar Jain It’s only shallow at the beginning, as we went further, it got pretty deep but because it’s very clear, you can see the bottom. Amazing place!
