Abraham, often recognized as the patriarch of the Israelite people, is a seminal figure in the Old Testament of the Bible. His life and legacy are captured across multiple books, notably in Genesis. Abraham, originally named Abram, was born in Ur of the Chaldees, in Mesopotamia. God made a covenant with him, changing his name to Abraham, meaning "father of many," reflecting the promise that he would become the progenitor of many nations (Genesis 17:5).
