I would say this would be good for max 10. 5 beds x 2 people each I’m a family of 8 (6 kids from 1-17) and 2 adults, and this would be perfect for us.

We just purchased this exact trailer last year. Absolutely amazing. We upgraded ac to 15k to help with tents and just went camping in above 90 degree weather and it was still able to keep the unit very comfortable with 3 pop outs. Great trailer and we are towing with an Audi Q7 and it pulls great with no issues.

Rebecca- just a couple thing from a previous hybrid owner. Hybrids sometimes have a condensation issue under the mattress. The A/C never seems to get the back beds cool. After our pop-up we then went to a hybrid and sold it after a year and jumped to a travel trailer.

This thing is so sick! I love with the slide outs, how much additional space and room you get versus a hard wall unit where you lose that space with beds, etc. If I was into hybrids and fabric sides, this would be, without a doubt, the unit I would pick up especially at this price point. To me, it seems like you get a lot of value for the money.

We had one similar to this and loved it for the amount of people it could sleep. However we ended up having to total it out due to water damage. Very easy for water to get in around the canvas and down into the walls. Great camper tho. It lasted us several years.

3rd year with the Jayco 213x, a nearly identical unit. 3 adults and 2 big dogs, plenty of space. Love the expansiveness, sunlight, and the ability to open all the fly windows. Tows like a dream. Don’t love the really hot days, when the tent end turn into hot houses. Or the really cold days. The a/c and the heater will keep up but they both will run a lot longer than a normal hard side. Clothing storage and kitchen counter top space are both lacking. Major differences I wish Jayco had, 1. the shower glass doors 2. the tent ends are sealed to the bed floor pan, Jayco has the traditional pop up style flaps. Also I believe the rockwood comes with a flat top griddle? And as usual another great review from BTBRV

We had a 2016 Starcraft 239tbs with a very similar layout. We loved it for our 4 kids, their friends, and 2 dogs. We just got a 5th wheel this year and I love it, but that hybrid was just as roomy (except for the pass-through storage and higher ceilings).

We had a rockwood Roo 233s, which is the same floor plan. Loved it for our family! Biggest downsides were small gray tank and the ac wasn’t able to keep up in the Texas summer even though we had the larger ac unit, used reflectix and bunk covers. We only camped at state parks, so it was nice to hear the crickets and frogs when we’d sleep, so the mesh sides didn’t bother us any.

We have the Rockwood version of this camper (Roo 233S) and love it. Our friends refer to it as The Tardis because it looks small from the outside but is so open on the inside. There are 2 points of consideration: 1. It’s not bear country compatible (unless you “turtle up” and sleep on the sofa and/or dinette) 2. I wouldn’t call it Cracker Barrel/Walmart overnight friendly since you will have some sound intrusion, but it is AWESOME for listening to nature (birds, crickets, etc., especially if you’re near a small, babbling creek or stream) You’ll want to get some foam mattress toppers, but place them UNDER the mattresses, because those mattresses are heated for those chilly fall/spring nights and mornings.

Then 1, 2, and 2 adults.... had to listen to it again to make sure i didn't hear it wrong. 😆😆 Still....11 people (or 8 adults) is A LOT to accommodate in this camper. Definitely geared towards spending a lot of time outdoors.

This is basically a ROCKWOOD ROO. ALL of these Hybrids come with heated mattresses as well. The fan for the Sheppards pole is also a light. The fan has 2 speeds and are quite noisy. I would recommend POP UP GIZMOS for the tip out beds. Having fabric beds with all the screen is great in hot weather. With 2 fantastic fans going full speed, can be nice and cool for sleeping.

It's a nice unit but man rv/camper prices this year continue to surprise me. I bought my '21 Coachman Chaparral X Edition 355FBX (42'7" 5th wheel) in March '21. MSRP was in the mid $60's and I bought from a high volume dealer for low $40's. At that time you could get a shorter 5th wheel like a Arctic Wolf in the mid $30s or even a nice Catalina or Wolf Pup 25-35ft TT for less. Today it gets you a hybrid pop up/travel trailer.

We had a Shamrock hybrid and used it for 7 years and the only leaking issue was the back bunk. A tube of caulk and problem solved. Ours was the 21' unit. Our shower had a curtain rather than the solid doors. Best advice I could give is do not lean against the bathroom door while you dry off after a shower or you may end up in the main living area. Fine for summertime only camping. However, using in spring or fall may be a little chilly. Don’t care that a single bed isn’t the hybrid. Also wish the manufacturers would put a wet weight instead of dry weight. Meaning what does it weigh with full fresh water tank, 2 full propane tanks, and 2 batteries because you just lost 450-500lbs of that misleading cargo capacity.

@terryhaynes1596
@terryhaynes1596 2 года назад
I’ve had 2 pop ups, a TT, now a fifth wheel. The fans you pulled out of the drawer are critical. Hot and cold air does not go out to the wings. It is as if there is a magic invisible wall at the bed opening. Next it will be a nightmare when it is raining to get those sides folded up and I hope the water goes somewhere outside, not inside, the rv. The wings make this a fair weather RV for sure. It is a creative design but there are some major disadvantages that the buyer needs to be aware of. Oh it will sweat on the inside of the canvas if it is touched on the inside. The Floor of the bed is cold when it’s cold outside. In summer the canvas makes the wings scalding hot. I wouldn’t have it. Period.
@louannekeast8575
@louannekeast8575 2 года назад
We love ours and have camped into Oct in Ont Canada. Furnace works great at keeping it warm as does an electric heater. We have had no issues with rain and have been in some pretty nasty storms. The fans in the draw help prevent the sweat on the inside of the canvas which is caused by decreased outside temp. It is not a huge issue it is all about ventilation.

@schmitty69
@schmitty69 2 года назад
Always wanted one of these units, but never pulled the trigger. Always grew up with a basic pop up and loved it. Instead of slide outs, these just tip. As far as getting wet, we always wiped the canvas off every time before we put it away. To pop the ends out and set them up, probably takes 30 seconds to a minute to set them up. Cleaning them to put them away, we always spent about 2 to 3 minutes putting them away including wiping down time. When we finally sold the pop up, it was 20 years old and looks like new. A little maintenance goes a long way. Also, if we ever had to put them away when it was raining out, we just folded them up wet, and unfolded it when we got home to dry out once it stopped raining. Not as convenient as a travel trailer, but for a family, these Floorplans are awesome!

About water heaters...change the drain plug/anodic protection often. They do get eaten up pretty quickly. Also, you can buy a special wand to clean the goop out of your HW tank. My wife just got one days ago. I will clean ours very soon. Also, the off/on switch is prone to fail. Ours is seized up. I will change that soon as well. All of this is available on RU-vid.

@mikefoehr235
@mikefoehr235 2 года назад
@@jefflaib2135 I don't know how much work is involved to replace a Propane only to gas and/or electric. One thing i found out is IF you have AC on in your RV, It is best to switch water heater and fridge to Propane because the AC needs pretty well ALL of the power to work properly. The AC will use nearly 35 amps to run. If the AC unit has diminished power, it can ruin the unit. I found this out from our local ROCKWOOD RV dealer.

Just two major downfalls for me. I live in Florida and canvass insulation let’s in heat. I imagine you would have a hard time in Texas as well. Also can’t be used in National Parks. No canvass walls allowed! Bear country need’s hard sided walls.

That price is disgusting... I paid less than that for a grand design bunkhouse fifth wheel 3 years ago.

12 kids in one camper . What is this ? The old woman in the shoe? I actually have a Jayco similar to this camper. x18d . No slide but three queen beds . We love it. Sleeping 5 with no problem. Never need to fold down the table. Only draw back is there is no real comfortable seating area inside. Foam bench seats only.
