On the afternoon of April 23rd, 2019, a call was made to 911. The caller was Clarisa Figueroa, who told the operator she’d just given birth in her home. Apparently, labor went so quickly, she didn’t have a chance to head to the hospital. Unfortunately, the birth didn’t go well, because the baby was blue and Clarisa couldn’t get him to breathe. So two ambulances rushed over. One took the baby, who rode all alone and the second one took Clarisa. Both of them arrived at Christ Advocate Hospital right away. But when they showed up, the doctors there thought something seemed off with Clarisa’s story.

@melax3gir The killer's daughter was pregnant already and would have made the killer a grandmother. Her daughter gave birth in jail. She could have directed all her love into her grandchild. Instead she took someone else's life to get a baby for herself, causing the baby to die in the end. Her daughter gave birth in the jail. So the killer's actions caused so much upheaval and damage. Lives ruined and lives lost.

Exactly. Besides, if woman had brand new clothes, why did baby need a May birth date. I understand she needed the clothes, especially if she thought baby coming sooner. Blood work and vaginal examination done at the hospital would have told the doctors/nurses that Clarisa didn't and couldnt give birth to this innocent child. The police and Child Services should have been contacted immediately. This case was handled with such colossal ignorance . The hospital should be held responsible for allowing Clarisa to continue making medical descisions knowing she was not the mother of the child. My heart aches for Marlen's family I wish their hearts peace.

Along with that you’d think standard medical care for a mother who had an unattended birth would be to have an ultrasound to check for any placenta left inside….a simple ultrasound also would have shown she wasn’t pregnant and could also show her tubes were tied. No standard medical care appears to have been given

Not to bring politics into this but why does it feel like it's the criminals that are having a great time. It wouldn't have been racial profiling. Doctors KNEW she did not have the baby. I think like 4 years ago. A black pregnant woman went to jack in the box with her dad. She was 7 months pregnant and she got out of the car to get air. By the time her dad got food and pulled out, she was gone. And that baby should be like 4.... Nobody seems to care! AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT! I know people think she ran away. For real. That had me shaking with rage, wanting to scream. Is it possible a heavily pregnant woman ran away? Sure, anything is possible. BUT with the information that she told her husband she was in labor and planned to go to the hospital, they should have at the very least sent word across to ALL patrolling officers to be on the lookout for her vehicle in case she was in distress on the side of the road, giving birth and unable to get her phone. And then a call should have gone out to the hospitals to report back if anyone matching her description me came in. This makes me livid.

Pregnant women.... Please please be careful. And DO NOT pickup anything online from strangers or meet strangers anywhere or have them come to your home or know your routine. Keep your social media PRIVATE. This stuff happens all the time, even with total strangers taking babies. Please be very safe and aware of your surroundings

I just watched a body cam video that had a woman that did the same thing and when she got to the hospital the staff knew immediately that she didn't just give birth to a baby. And knew immediately that there was a mother somewhere that needed help. The hospital and police department should be sued. This is absolutely insane

When I was 13 my 12yo brother died and yea, my mom went a little nuts, but she certainly never plotted to kill someone to get a baby to REPLACE HER SON. Like what? We have a 22 year old daughter, pregnant with our second grandchild and she constantly buys things off Facebook marketplace. She married a Marine and they were assigned to a state thousands of miles from home(us), and I am constantly reminded her to NOT go to get anything without her husband, it’s so sad and scary, that we have evolved into such a terrible society. I hope Marlene(so sorry if spelling is wrong) and her youngest son are resting peacefully together now in Heaven.😢🕊️❣️I also hope her husband, living son and family are doing as good as than can be doing considering the circumstances.😢🙏🕊️💙

That letter from the hospital sounds so insincere . No concern for the migrants. It's a real tragedy. Pure evil. I live near Christ Hospital and they could care less about you if you are on medicaid. Period. I've dealt with my own tragedies and I had to go to bat with them regarding my baby. It's a long story. I wrote a letter to the hospital staff and put them in their place and the head nurse said well done.

I’m a LD rn in Chicago and my husbands a ff. This hit us all so hard and I still think about her often. One thing I can say is at the hospital I work at we all agreed we would have absolutely reported a baby born to a woman with no palpable fundus, no bleeding, no medical care anyware, no signs of trauma down there. It’s very easy to tell when someone’s fresh postpartum… and we’re literally trained on how common infant and fetal abductions are. If it happens in hospital we call it code pink. I absolutely think the ER staff is to blame for immediately not contacting authority

My friend who had her babs last year has was so terrified, but also now she after the joy, love (stress as well), but mostly love and more than you think,joy. @HaydeeNunez it's watching stories like this, that keep you safe during your pregnancy. It's very real, and especially now a days women have to be so careful. It's sad, but if we aren't educated we can't protect ourselves nor would we take the proper safety measures. Such as not meeting people online.

I’m a mother myself, and I experienced a lot of anxiety and stress during my pregnancy, and I truly believe that affected my child. I don’t wish that on any other mother or child.

As a Black woman in America I still try very hard to not jump to assumptions about bigotry... but, this case breaks my heart & enrages me about how obvious the bias appears. The visit the cops paid to the house with no translator to report the death just made me cry...The solitude & confusion the family must've experienced just tears me up. & her abject desperation to get the free clothes? ....just pls Jesus.. 😢

How do you know it was bigotry? They never said what race the police were. Maybe the police had a staffing shortage. Maybe no one there spoke Spanish. For a translation problem they sure were able to take a report, Sometimes the bigotry is actually coming from the opposite end

This is absolutely a case in which prejudice and racism played apart. Is heart breaking they did not value her life, her baby's life nor the pain the family were experiencing when trying to find her. The willingness to disregard or brush off the family's concerns are rooted in them not seeing nor not valuing their humanity. So sad.

@@thyme3605 as someone who's worked with migrant and immigrant population this situation is right on par with their experiences. And the family themselves said they felt like there was discrimination and racism at play. You're right that not every story gets coverage. A lack of coverage doesn't mean that law enforcement cannot take the family's concerns seriously. I'm sorry you experienced not hearing about your mom's passing. That's terrible. However, do not use your story to discount other experiences or assume others don't know what they're talking about.

@@marieantoinette1091 yes, I often struggle with the same which is why I commented. There is no shame in missing some episodes to focus on some positive things. It’s easy to fall into this narrative that the world is horribly dangerous and everyone is trying to kill each other in horrible ways! But, that just isn’t true. You have family and friends who love you and also need a night out or to be pushed for a coffee date. Nature is waiting for you, go to a park, walk, sit, observe. Sign up for a bird watching walk. Re-watch your fave comedian or get tickets to a comedy show. Try kayaking. My point is, there are endless ways to step away and see the world differently but we get caught up in habits that can be unhealthy. I think constantly consuming this true crime content can be unhealthy for some of us. So take really good care of yourself and seek out the positive. This, sadly, will always be here. I'm a little confused. You started this video stating she called her husband stating she was going into labor, then didn't realize she was missing until her sons daycare called at 6pm to say he had not been picked up?? Then she goes to pick up baby clothes while believing she was in labor? It does not make sense. These inconsistancies do not change the horrific nature of this act..it just seemed odd.

@@ronjawiedenbeck621it was just a random baby someone tried to dump. And I think her husband was at work and just figured she’d call him if she was in labor and about to give birth. And didn’t think anything of not hearing from her until the daycare called. And she was going to pick up the clothes before getting her son from daycare. She was having contractions but they weren’t that close and she was still a couple weeks away from her due date so she figured she had some time even if she was in labor

How in the world?! So those bozos did check Clarissa at hospital (of course!!) and they still said "Seems legit! Let's let her make decisions about this newborn that couldn't possibly be hers!!?!" 😬 And I'm sorry, but if this was a missing pregnant teenage white girl.....it would have been major headlines, immediately!!! 💔 It makes me so angry!!! I think Desiree should never be able to see her child she was pregnant with again! AT LEAST for the 30 yrs she’s in prison. She deserves to feel the loss of a child, although, it won’t be the same, because she knows her child is still alive! Hopefully, after her sentence, and her child is 30 yrs old, the child will refuse to see their mom! I almost despise her more, but she was literally pregnant and helped kill a innocent pregnant girl! Oh, and i hope everyone in prison knows about her and her mother’s crime, and that extra justice will be served! They are truly sick and twisted people 🤬🤬

The fact that her 3-year old stopped eating when she went missing, points to just how much of a wonderful mother she must've been. The fact that handsome Giovanni is still single-handedly raising their living son shows just how much he loved her. Clarisa, I can't describe how conniving that woman must've been- my mum's the same, always plays the victim card to get what she wants, but I can't see myself helping her to commit murder. Her daughter should've been given the same sentence, somewhere inside of her, there should've been a thread of decency. I trust they took her baby away after her giving birth, but denied access to any family member to keep him/her. RIP Marlen and Giovanni jnr.
