Rev Reads reviews Zane Hodges' Absolutely Free! A Biblical Reply to Lordship Salvation. Zane shows the reader the errors, dangers, and pitfalls of the teachings of Lordship Salvation. You don't need to work for the salvation that Jesus has already won for you through His death and resurrection. Belief in Christ alone is what saves a person.

AMEN! Thanks, Rev, for sharing this review of, "Absolutely Free". Legalists use the words, "faith" and "faithfulness" as a bridge of deception. The words share the five letters, but nothing else. I view faith--the faith that God requires to gain eternal life--as believing that God was totally satisfied with His Son's offering at Calvary in my behalf. Faithfulness is simply being dependable or reliable. Satan is most deceptive!!! But may the Holy Spirit--which God sent to Earth--work to heal the blindness of any and all who earnestly seek to know Truth!

When the Lordship Salvation camp point me to James 2 as proof for works being needed to show we have real faith for salvation, I then ask: ‘So what do we have to do if we don’t have the works?’ Then it’s impossible to reconcile this with Ephesians 2:8-9, because then the scripture, ‘not of works’ and ‘not of ourselves’ has to be contradicted.

Does Zane define saving faith in this book with the 1 John 5:9-13 passage?

The teachers you mentioned are some of my favorites and I have listened to many hours from these men. They do NOT teach that you need works to earn salvation. Salvation is by grace alone. That is a pillar of the Reformation. Faith is followed by works which is what the Bible teaches. Please. Do not slander these good men of God when you do not understand at all what they teach.

Not Faith plus works but as Paul and James said demonstrate your faith by your works.

One says they were saved, now they've become an atheist. Did they believe truly, are they saved? What's his take for this question, addressed in the book?
@The-GreenHornet
The one major problem I see with a majority of the Lordship salvation people, is they either don't understand, haven't thoroughly studied and or grasped the doctrine of "Imputation of Christ' righteousness," and when that takes place.

I find it ironic most preachers or teachers of lordship Salvationist are named John… 😆

Its a mute debate that wastes time.. we are supposed to be Protestants and Martin Luther laid down the foundation. The problem with Lordship salvation is they skipped Luther who tried to get right with God for years by obedience and surrender as a monk. When he found God's promises he came alive and had peace.

Lordless Christianity is an oxymoron.
