One detail I loved was that when Joe first "reviewed" his life, there was a scene where he looked sad eating pie at a diner. But during the scene where it showed the beautiful moments in his life, it included the pie eating again! So depending on how you look at it, to one it can appear mundane and sad, seeing someone eating a pie by themselves but to the person it could be the most glorious pie in their life.

I saw someone else comment this in another video and I had to bring it up cause it made so much sense If you notice at the beginning of the movie there is no title card The title card of a movie usually comes at the beginning of a movie so you could say it indicated the start of a story It says "disney pixar presents" when his soul is falling but it doesn't give the title Until the end of the movie because it was at the end of the movie where he "started" living his life

As a fellow Filipino, I had the same reaction the first time I watched the movie and heard one of Moonwind's companions say that his body was in a trance in Palawan. 😭😍💕 It was so cool and amazing to hear him say that featured in a phenomenal film such as Soul. Truly a life-changing movie experience from beginning to end, inspiring and touching topics/messages, stunning visuals and animation, memorable and relatable characters, just amazing!! 👏👏

Good review, Monica. You have a beautiful spirit. Soul was an awesome movie, one of my favorites. I've never been to Palawan, but was on Boracay Island for a week and Makati for a month. Beautiful culture.

11:38 - I think I had this realisation back in 2021 - I was only seventeen and I was at a festival with my aunt and two of her friends - she knew a lot of people there, actually. I was just sitting on a log at a campfire, late at night, listening to a man play his guitar and I just realised something along the lines of what this man realised. Since then - I have appreciated life's tiniest moments - I am grateful to be alive. I still struggle and I wish things were different - but that doesn't stop me from appreciating the small, good moments. I just love this film so much - it means a lot to me.

I don't have a purpose. However, I treat writing as if it was one, because it allows me to link my present and future - when I sat waiting to be put to sleep so my wisdom teeth would be taken out, I was excited to know what it was like so I could write about it later. When I watch a movie, I am excited to analyze it. When I meet someone new, I'm excited to see what I can learn from them. Writing has given me a purpose to enjoy life. And so even when I'm feeling awful, I think, I'll be okay. Because I've enjoyed life before, and I can do it again. Because ahead of me, there are more moments of life, and with every step I take I know I will write better fiction. So no. Not a purpose. A lifeline, perhaps - the kind that will never break as long as I have life left to live ahead of me. It's been wonderful. My spark, perhaps.
