Yep...its a fun one Jon! Its really stable in high alpha but I think even more stable in inverted HA like most planes are. Lot of rudder input for me too. Very nice flying buddy! Oh...cut my missiles off too...lol. I added some tail weight and use 3700's to get the balance more rearward...it takes off normal that way, but if its a bit nose heavy it always jumps off the ground at a higher speed. Nice drone footage as well. Great job on the vid buddy!
@TwoBrosRC

It might need to balance further back to have the stability I'm looking for with inverted high alpha. It's far more enjoyable upright, quite the opposite from the F-22. Thanks Adam!

Great Job on the Demo Jon !! I retired as an Airline pilot with 38 years of flying with a major airline. Been flying RC planes for 5 years. I have been flying this F16 for 2 years and its a very well designed jet, that's why its very east to fly ! I fly circles around my 2 friends that have a free wing f15 ! Keep up the good work Jon !!!

I’m amazed at how much info is in this vid. I took mine out today for a successful maiden using flaperons for takeoff. Since I swapped receivers most of my safe and as3x gains/angles were off just due to my guesswork. I’ll be updating them tomorrow morning with these settings!

Awesome flight Jon. This F-16 has been a favorite of ours for years. I currently own three of them. One stock, one upgraded motor and one with all gear and extra weight removed for hand launching and ultimate alpha. Here's one of our custom F-16's and we get as low as you can go in this video.

It is nice now bud I like that you have gone into depth on setups and flying as I have learned alot. I really do appreciate you, taking the time now since I first messaged you. Since then I have moved up from flying 50mm jets and only 1.5 m high wing planes and up to 1.5m warbirds up into the big 1700mm and 1800mm warbirds and up to the 80mm and 90mm jets. Thank you for all the effort you put in to help people like me it really make a huge difference as in 4 months I moved all the way up

My 70 mm Freewing F-16 is also very stable in high alpha. I can do extremely slow high alpha with it as I have shown on my channel. I'm running a 4S with a homemade EDF. No gyro, but a gyro would be nice on windy days.

Freaking love this Tbird. Loved it more when it was $300 when it was first released....lol. She's very light and responsive. Great battery times. And yes...the high alpha is phenomenal. With a nice 6-10knt head wing and it's really fun. Love landing it when it's breezy. Probably have 300+ flights on this one and she's still my fav! Yes, the control surfaces will wear out and the battery latch....sucks! The plastic will break. So, I just modded it and replaced with magnet lock and it works great! Funny you mention it... I've recommended this one as a first EDF jet. I just emphasize that you gotta get that nose up on landing like the real F16. The come in at sometime like 11.5° AOA on Approach. Met a real F16 pilot when I was flying and he was amazed at how realistic the landings are.
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC Год назад
It's definitely a lot of fun - I just would personally love full flying stabilators without having to mod them into the airframe.

@@TwoBrosRC Well, get their newest 80mm F16...lol. full stabs and... very scale gear! I've got that too and it does fly a bit heavier. Good bird... no doubt but the Tbird is just one of those have fun do crazy stuff with. Stays light tol cause ya can't really get anything more than a 4000 in it lol. Kinda funny thing you can do with the new 80mm F16. Thrust reverse! It has the new spectrum ESC and you can reverse the thrust after landing. It actually works to slow ya down. It isn't as effective as say a jetliner reverse but... it does work. Looks pretty cool too. Kicks up dust off the runway outta the bottom cheater vents...lol.

I’ll be adding flaperons to my 70mm f16 next week. The DuPont connector just arrived and reminded me. You snip, and then crimp the three connector pins to the wires, and then crimp the plastic plug? It sounded like you are just throwing the plug on the cut wires and crimping those together. That sounds way easier.
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC Год назад
Yep, that's all there is to it. Cut one of the leads going into the plug and strip the wires, then run them into the metal connectors and crimp them on. Slide them into the plug and enjoy!
@aerialphotographyadvance0007
Awesome!!! not just Edf but the Pilot that make a big difference. l set reverse thrust on this, but not a good Jet for that. Work much better on 80 mm. 👍

You mention you were using at 637ta which comes from a bind n fly model. Did you need to update the firmware on the receiver or something to be able to use on different model ? I’m a noob to the whole programing spectrum receiver thing

We unlocked the 637TA and then reprogrammed it. Unlocking requires updating the firmware. Search "unlock AR637TA" and you'll see how SpektrumRC explains the process.

Nice flying, I fly mine without landing gear and handlaunch, we have no hard surface only grass at the club. Handlaunch can not be easier than with this plane, full power, nose 30 degrees up and go.

If you were to fly with gear, we'd recommend using DuBro low-bounce wheels - that should make it possible to at least land with minimal or no damage.

For a plane like this they're trying to provide an intro into bigger jets so the stabilator thing is about the price point and complexity. I feel like you're asking for it to be something it's designed not to be. Though maybe there's a technical hurdle they've just cleared considering the F-14 they've got coming out? That still costs a lot more for size and features.
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC Год назад
We're not saying it wouldn't add complexity - we're just saying that we prefer scale jets to have scale functionality. For what it is, it's an incredible performing model and we highly recommend it as a beginner's jet.

i have same plane and its top speed with the 5280 bluefire afterburner and max speed hit 61mph without the afterburner its 83mph. the diameter of the burner was larger than the motor and obstructed airflow. i put the burner into my 90mm no issues. 5280 didnt mention the massive loss of power including the fact i nearly crashed it on takeoff bc it took about 3x as much distance to lift off and that was not mentioned in the directions or papers from 5280. i find that worrysome bc anyone could use it including a beginner. great video great flight thats the easiest plane to fly and land that i own now. lolol check out some videos i fly thru a hallway with that same edf.

We're not really concerned with speed, but good findings!
@Streetreaper89
@Streetreaper89 5 месяцев назад
@TwoBrosRC im not worried about speed either. Its a lazy flyer and when its unable to do a power loop without diving for run up speed, i start looking at speed and numbers. And with that burner you be lucky to go vertical at all. 😆
