Glad your liking the doors more suggestions: The Crystal ship, LA Woman, The Changeling, Peace frog, Your lost little girl, Love me two times. Honestly they have no bad songs.
Interesting info - Jim Morrison's (lead singer) father was "commander of United States naval forces during the Gulf of Tonkin Incident of August 1964, which sparked an escalation of American involvement in the Vietnam War."
You probably know this, but for others that don't- For years Jim told the media/press that both his parents died in a car crash. Eventually the press found out they were alive though...
Nothing like watching the Doors live...And for Jim..know one ever has pulled that look off more than him. And that YEAH! in the song ..is a reminder of his true wild side..lol.
Adogg, I got Introduced to the Doors back in 67. I was at an HBCU living in a dormitory and one of the guys on the floor was playing The Doors first album. I never heard anything like that before. And the song Light My Fire blew my mind🤯 He and I became best friends and we still are. Great reaction!
A little-known detail about the studio version of this song: Ajax Laundry Detergent had a jingle that went like this: "New Ajax Laundry Detergent is Stronger Than Dirt..." It had a very catchy way of emphasizing the words "Stronger than Dirt..." In the studio version of this song, the last four notes...you can hear a chorus singing "Stronger than Dirt." No foolin'!
Adog I love seeing 20 to 30 some thing year olds positively react to my cousin over 50 years after his death. I found him at twelve or thirteen and was head over heels. Studied his history, read his favorite writers and poets. I felt a connection. I was adopted. Last year I took a dna test and did a lot of research. My great grandmother was Jennie Myrtle Clarke Matteson, and that's Jims great aunt. His maternal grandfather was Dalton Clarke, Jennies brother and my great uncle.j There were more shockers. Doc Holliday the best known gun fighter in the west is my fourth cousin on moms side. And there are so many nobles with titles on both sides of my family it's mind blowing.
Fun Fact: On the studio version, they say "Stronger Than Dirt" at the very end, in sync with those last 4 notes. That was the Ajax laundry detergent slogan in the late '60s. Thanks, Adogg
The Doors are amazing. The end is a must (and watch Apocalypse Now - the movie and use of the song in the movie are iconic). La Woman, light my fire too.
Check out Spanish Caravan, the song showcases the talents of all four members. Jim the mad poet, Ray the classically trained pianist, John the jazz drummer and Robbie the flamenco guitarist.
Trivia: Jim wrote this in part after overhearing keyboard player Ray Manzarek in a heated argument with his wife where she was saying come on, come on, touch me.
My top 3 hair guys are Robert Plant, Barry Gibb and Jim Morrison.......of course, there are more, e.g. Sebastian Bach.....LOL.....just not fair for a dude to have better hair than I !!..... 🤣
Jim Morrison & the Doors were Revolutionaries in Rock & Roll! And the band was uber talented because they never knew what type of “Jim” they were getting when they went on stage each night! Lol! Jim Morrison was so talented! As with many people so talented, he suffered from addiction…… He was infamous for how he went on stage! Just like other, famous, young Rock & Rollers of the 60’s-70’s….. Janis Joplin. Jimi Hendrix……. He died because of those addictions, at the (far too young age) 27. The mark they all left on music, though…… Iconic! As always, I LOVED your reaction! Sending you lots of love & positivity from the coast of South Carolina!!! 💗💗💗
