Nihilism is living with a "why?" Absurdism is living with a "why not?"

Wait until you become depressed as absurdist When the whole world becomes so painful to the point you can't become anything anymore Then the question will be answered: "Oh thats why " It's like taking drugs It's so much fun until a certain point Then you start wishing if you could go back in time but you can't I feel like I'm talking to myself... Please if anyone who have the idea to start living that way please don't Even if you managed to survive that pain , your life will NEVER be the same And that moment of "oh a cute duck" will never return And not a single suicide prevention post will come across become useless because you already know everything there , because your entire life was "why not?" So you when they everything they say about loving to live become meaningless I don't even wanna think more about the past

Just 'cuz to both of them. Reason isn't always needed, and if you want to go that route here are some rest stops: who said the universe had a beginning, it may not exist! How can you prove that reality is real, it's impossible by definition, we expect it, but that statement is immeasurable, just like with the tree that fell and no one hears, did it make a sound. How about CGI(CGV) does it exist, is it also part of reality, how about the concept of "2" does it live somewhere.

Roelofs said the RU-vidr had assaulted and raped her in October 2016, had started threatening her between November-December 2016, and subsequently "blackmailed" her to leave the hospital to talk to him while she was drugged with prescribed medication, and that he raped her while she was unable to fight him. @@mohammedjafer9265 Nature provides us lessons everyday, experience is when we have learned a good proportion of those lessons. The lesson of existential crises is resolved by realising there is no god, nothing we do matters except for the here and now. Nihilism is what’s the point. Absurdism is eh, I’ll just have a good day, and let tomorrow worry about itself. Im sure it’s not coincidence that post enlightenment has come up with absurdism, the classical world came up with stoicism, and the eastern world came up with Buddhism, all answering the question in the same way. In the end, I came to understand that whatever we may see as true is just that to our perception and nothing more, including our thoughts. Nihilism was the view I've naturally been following since early school. In the end, everything is valid and stupid, clever and clouded - logical just as much as as it is pointless. A person who lies may speak the truth in the right ear, the most common knowledge may just be a misinterpretation since generations... I don't care anymore. Bye.

But that response would only be relevant to that of existentialist nihilism which is unfortunately what is being used as a generalization in this video. Also you’d have to have a voided belief or something other than hard determinism otherwise it wouldn’t be a true philosophical viewpoint. Absurdism is really just a conscious avoidance of reality. It’s not a decision and it’s not a belief because how can some of an opposing standpoint come from the opposite and original conclusion. If you have acknowledged nihilism as a reality, which ties into determinism, then absurdism really cannot exist. It’s completely illogical and in itself a paradox

If life had a meaning it would mean that man has no choice. If it was a ready-made thing. This is also the reason nobody is born religious or born into a religion, because that would take away the possibility of conversion, you can not convert from a male to female and vice versa. You can try, but your biological gender will always be there. The fact that you can convert from a religion to another is proof that nobody is born into a religion. If life had a meaning it would take away the possibility of any other meaning. The fact that life is meaningless is a possibility for you to create any meaning, it gives you a choice. What was the reason to do anything if life had a set goal to be achieved? The only set goal is the grave. Because the moment you are born is the moment you start dying.

I love how absurdism, the thing that answers the question to the meaning of life with "it just is, or isn't, depending on what you think, but in the end it doesn't matter because it just is" is the perfect match for the most anxious, troubled, melancholic, in search for THE REAL answers people on earth (or wherever else)

Absurdism is one of those philosophies I stumbled into myself during self exploration, or rather a nihilistic version of it. I was suicidal, lost, fraying at the edges, losing my sense of self and locked up in a mental ward for being depressed. I looked inward during that time and came up with many of the conclusions that form absurdism, but also nihilism. Nothing mattered I concluded. Nothing has a deeper meaning. Yet if nothing matters then that means the meaning is that which I give it. So should I not smile and give meaning to the pleasures of life? I don't need a deeper purpose to laugh, to sing, to dance, or to smile. Instead I can assign meaning those things, the meaning of enjoying this existence, because this is a rather fun ride we're on. The conclusion that nothing had meaning lead me to nihilism, but that it didn't need meaning lead me to absurdism. The fun was in granting it meaning. If my life had no meaning than I shall rebel by giving it meaning, and that meaning was to see just how much I could relish in it all. Without meaning there was freedom to paint the world around me in my own meaning. To see the wonders of the world without worrying about them. Have you ever sat down and wrote an 80 page essay on a single class of item a table top roleplaying game? I have, then I decided it needed to be much much longer as I didn't write enough, I expect when I'm done it'll be 200 or more pages. So much work put into something that doesn't matter some would say, but if nothing matters then everything is equally deserving of your efforts. Put those efforts into where you find love and joy. Cherish the now, laugh at the awful, mock the lovely. Challenge it all to spark your interest enough to give it meaning. And then, snatch it away just to give it a new meaning. The world is empty, so rather than cry about it we should fill it with our own meaning. Kindness for its own sake, joy just to be happy, and sorrow to remind us why we laugh. Give your everything to everything, because there's no value to keeping it to yourself. Or don't. It doesn't matter either way. And that's OK. It doesn't need to matter. It exists regardless, and that's just wonderful. So when you ask "why?" You are granting meaning to that answer, so might as well go find it, after all, something with meaning is exceptional when nothing is meaningful. Just because it isn't important, doesn't mean you can't care about it.

My personal take on absurdism is this: we, as a sentient species, are the eyes and the ears of the universe. We are the universe watching itself. Every time I observe something, especially something with no one else present to witness it, is a precise moment of perspective in space and time that would've otherwise gone wasted if not for me. It doesn't matter whether I fully grasp what I saw or not, I derive a great degree of satisfaction from this sense of self-awareness regardless. This is what makes life worth living to me, and I'm going to keep doing it until the day I die, because the alternative is to experience nothing, and that's boring as shit.

I am two weeks short of being 77 years old, and this is the best damn 11 minutes and 21 seconds that I’ve seen and listened to in my whole life. Combine those two, absurdism and stoicism, and then one can drop the suicidal thoughts of nihilism. And mentioning suicide reminded me of Fredrick Nietzsche, saying something like “contemplating suicide has helped me make it through many a night.” Thank you exurb1a.

I always go back to Emil Cioran's take on suicide. First, he says if life is absurd then death is as absurd as that, and so would it be commiting suicide. But more importantly, he believes it is the most beautiful thing we have as humans, since it is a guarantee of freedom. You are able to choose a way out whenever you want. Considering suicide means you are truly free, and not taking that way out means you are making an active choice every second you are here living. And for some reason, feeling like I'm choosing to be here instead of just... being forced to... it just makes it all better in a matter of seconds. By the way, I saw you posted this two weeks ago. Happy birthday.

Why should one unavoidable truth be any different than another? Life appears to have no purpose. There’s no point in having a high paying job, huge house, fancy car (unless you want all that) like we’re told growing up. So now I’m in my mid 20’s realizing that everything I’ve been told about life is completely useless. I understand that there is a sense of freedom in this. I'm in a similar position - mid to late 20s, worked hard toward a well paying job my whole life, but now aware it is almost certainly not the answer to "what I want in life". My answer to your concerns is that you are still very young in the grand scheme, and have plenty of opportunity to change your path and move towards whatever actually makes you happy. The reason that I still value those traditional goals is that it is much easier to change your path when have a good job and a nice house than if you are dealing with the daily struggles associated with not having those things. Remember that life is, fundamentally, not easy. Only the very lucky few get to live a carefree, happy, low-wealth life from the get-go. Use those traditional goals as a stepping stone to the actual happiness you're seeking.
@NikS952
@NikS952 Год назад
and also - be completely prepared to never achieve the total freedom you would like simply because, again, life is very hard and every day that you have food and shelter is basically a statistical improbability. Instead, try to inject that freedom into your non-ideal life whenever you can. Hopefully with time, you can swing the balance where you have a lot of freedom mixed in with some bullshit, rather than the other way around.

You end up a slave to the material world and the animal within you. There is no moral argument. There is nothing to work to that matters in the end. This idea that we can create our own purpose is not just absurd, it is naïve. What if two people's purposes conflict, and violently so? Who gets to decide who is right? no beginning and was infinite, all the energy in the universe would have been used up and dispersed into heat already, therefor cancelling out that theory. Since an infinite universe is not possible then we know it had a beginning, but since something can't come from nothing, the only possible explanation is a creator, aka God. The uncaused first cause. Someone or something that exists outside of our three dimensional way of thinking (4 if time is a dimension). If you pass a 3D object through a 2D world, someone in the 2D world would have no Idea how to explain it because they only exist in that dimension. If God truly is real we would never have any "reasonable" way to prove it because we are limited to our 3 dimensions. God is real, many people just don't believe it because they think they can explain everything from their perspective of reality, we as humans are just to arrogant to admit it.

@@oscarwang7227 that's true I can't deny that. its still weird though... like when I watch a movie made by someone who was a criminal creep my watching it isn't directly funding them (since many are no longer alive or are in jail or were cut off from payments) but I feel a little guilty how much I still genuinely enjoy exurb1a's content (especially the older stuff which many years ago were such important inspirations to me they changed the direction of my life) it's all so confusing and frustrating especially knowing certain fans have been harassing the victim to insane degrees and that he's evading charges/investigations/won't speak about or address any of this
@hanishshetty7991

@@thishandleistacken But the problem is that, you can blame me or anyone for the matter of fact, on the internet, for anything. Yes you could tread back on him if all his crimes are convicted in a court or any justice body, but just because of allegations from someone who might have or have not been harassed by him, doesn't mean we need to take a Stand, for both of the sides. We are here to enjoy his content and if he is convicted of those crimes, I would never support his videos in the future but until then I don't heed to what people say, as Innocent until proven guilty.

Just wanted to introduce myself as a new subscriber. I'm a 67yo disabled vet confined to my couch "if I knew I was going to live....I'd have taken better care..." My days have been reduced to mind numbing drivel on TV UNTIL! I came across your channel. I wanted to thank you for the equivalent of the mental defibrillator that is your content. So.. Thanks...I needed that! I'm sure I'll be here again and again. And I vow that once my country is in the hands of real, capable adults and I can spend my money on more than just food and shelter, I will be a faithful contributor. Thanks again.

Life has an infinite number of meanings. If you choose not to decide on one, you still have made a choice. If you choose to use a crutch like LSD, you've chosen to hide. The meaning of that is very clear, and hopefully it won't last very long. Your excuses are your own, but more than once or twice is not for learning but cheap and dangerous escapism.

Probably it will get lost among other thousands of comments, but if you read this one day, just wanna let you know this video inspired me to get back on working on my comic. I gave up on the project years ago, but one character has a lot of sartre inside himself. Thank you man, I had forggoten how the absurd can be inspiring.
