This is my first time hearing this, and I almost teared up hearing it put in a way I've never been able to manage when I've tried to explain it. I always called it optimistic nihilism for lack of a better terminology, but this is exactly what I've been looking for.

So can we, by choosing to embrace what we can't understand. We'll never know the full scope of reality, the size and extent of the cosmos. That's unavoidably true. The only thing in the way of accepting that fact in the same way that we accept any other is our need for an explanation that isn't there. Love the way of phrasing that "you're forced to confront that right now". Because that's always exactly what it feels like when I think about that very subject. I can always, almost literally, feel an internal battle in my mind where one side is trying so hard to understand the concept, while the other is trying to scurry away from the subject, to think about easier things instead.
