That's very common among people from India and Pakistan, most of them claim they are either Syeds from the Prophet s.a.w family or descendents of his companions. Probably there was undocumented mass migration from hijaz back in history or else ...... you know what I mean.
"If you wake up in the morning, and have a roof over your head, food for the day, and health. That's as if you have the entire world." 32:43 54:30 last narrated hadith by Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (r.a.)
1 - Whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi (Glory be to Allah and Praise Him) a hundred times during the day, his sins are wiped away, even if they are like the foam of the sea [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:168] 2 - whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi, Subhan-Allahi 'l-`adheem (Glory be to Allah, and Praise, Glory be to Allah, the Supreme) Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two words are light on the tongue, weigh heavily in the balance, they are loved by the Most Merciful One " [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:67] 3. La Hawla wa la Quwatta illa Billah (There is no Might or Power except with Allah) [the above is] a treasure from the treasures of Paradise.[Sahih al-Bukhari; al-Fath al-Bari #11:213] V
The place of burial of Abu Ayyub Al Ansari (ra) was discovered by the mentor and spiritual leader of Muhammad Al Fatih in 1453 AD. That is where they built the Ayyub Sultan Mosque in the district of Ayyub in Istanbul.

May Allah bless you for enlightening us with knowledge. But can you tell me the reason why the residents of Madinah ate so friendly and welcoming in contrast to the hostile attitude of Makkah residents?
Sheikh mentioned that there are no descendants of Abu Ayyub that are known...however there are people in the sub-continent that trace their lineage to Abu Ayyub. Is this a limitation of the sources that Sheikh is using for his research?
