The federal government has again given reassurance of timely completion of rehabilitation work of the Abuja-Kaduna- Kano road project before the 2023 deadline.
The reassurance was given by the Director of Highways Construction and Rehabilitation in the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Funso Adebiyi during an inspection of the Kaduna- Zaria portion of the road to assess the progress of work so far.
Speaking to journalists during the inspection, Mr. Adebiyi says the federal Ministry of WORKS and Housing is determined and committed to completing the road project before the 2023 stipulated time, adding that work is going on simultaneously in the Abuja -Zaria and Kano end of the 375-kilometer dual carriage road.
He also expresses satisfaction with the quality of work being done by the contractor handling the road project.
On the work done so far, the Director explains that over 100 kilometers have been completed under section one to three portions of the highway, stating that remedial works were being carried out on the dilapidated portions of the road in order to ease Movement of commuters
He however, advises motorists and other road users to be patient and drive with caution to reduce the recurring incidences of motor accidents being recorded along the road.
It would be recalled that the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road reconstruction project was awarded to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, on December 20, 2017.
