This is the second part of our Solitude farm tour. Solitude farm is one of India's oldest permaculture farms. Set in the pioneering Auroville ashram in Tamil Nadu, it's run by the inspirational Krishna McKenzie who has been there from its inception. In this video he has a powerful message about fertility in the soil, the healing benefits of leaves and the importance of local foods as a sustainable alternative to industrialized agriculture.

No word to say just wow. Local food and food forest our tool for abundance and good health..Thank you so much Krishna Mckenzie for this beautiful food forest ☺. In the past Local and tribals used to eat millets..now they eat free ration from govt with no nutrition value its very sad situation. .Its time to get back to our own roots.. ..if we all really care about health ..reject wheat , rice etc which takes a lot of water and labour to produce food...There are farmers in India that save 30 varieties of millets....For our health of ourselves and the environment...It grows in very harsh climate as well..Ragi taste awsome when made into puttu..taste like chocolate cake ☺😀 # food forest # local food # AUROVILLE # Permaculture # Krishna Mckenzie # Millets

I'm sorry, but rice is a natural crop in low lying wetlands. Why would you advocate to reject them? Instead, tell people to eat locally

@@aleenaprasannan2146 hello Aleena, what a nice name, sorry about the confusion, Krishna is talking about encouraging what grows naturally, so yes in low lying wet lands rice that rows naturally is great.... in his bio region rice is not a natural crop and requires a lot of water, but Raggi is a local crop and was the traditional crop before rice, thats why he is encouraging Raggi in his bio region not for everyone, i hope that clears it up, thanks for watching!

@LeafofLifeWorld 4 года назад
He gives free information, free farm tour on Saturday. He also has school classes receiving free soap making tutorials and classes about local food. The food in the cafe is more expensive that a normal restaurant but it is the best food available, fresh from the garden grown with living care, there are many people working on the farm and all this needs to be accounted for. His permaculture classes are cheaper than others in the world and Krishna is very experienced at his work. If you are struggling to pay for a course that you want to do with Krishna, please speak to him personally on FB.

Thank you for your reply.... I heard 90k inr for his permaculture course... there are also farm to table food that are not expensive at all... you people talk about corporate greed when you are more or less like them.... Charity is not accumulate first and then distribute.@@LeafofLifeWorld
@LeafofLifeWorld
@LeafofLifeWorld 4 года назад
@@bryanjagdeesh1892 the debate about courses and their prcing is relative many permaculturists have and od free and paid teaching Krishna included, and people dont attend free online permaculture courses, statistically they stop attending after a couple of classes and dont do the homework or contribue in the groups. The pricing at Solitude farm is relative to Auroville which at weekends is a tourist hotspot, the roads into Auroville are littered with restaurants and shops all cashing in on the scene. Do you know how many staff work there and what the running costs are for a month, its quite a big team of local village people not Aurovillians. Plus there are schemes for people who are sick or do exchanges with solitide farm, and the pricing of their dried herbs andleaves are a lot cheaper than other outlets in Auroville. They are also giving away 1000s of free plants to the community atm. Leaf of Life has not made any statements abotu corportate greed our focus is on regenrative agroforestry to heal the environment and exploring local foods so people have food security and are healthier amoungst other things. We do not make any profits from these films neother does Krishna mckenzie, everyone is making a loss to provide free educational content about permaculture, the content on Kirshnas channel is more than you can learn on a course now and he will keep making more videos and so will leaf of Life precisly because it will reach a larger audience than people who can afford permaculture courses. We missed out on visiting a few farms because they charged much larger sums than Krishna whereas when we visited solitide farm for the first time krishna talked to us for almost an hour and invited us to his free farm tour on saturday mornings. We retunrned on other occasions and he had time for us as he does anyone who goes to his farm, he is also available online is people have specific questions. On top of that krishn is always doing free workshops and courses so its easy for you to write assumptions about other peoples lives in youtube comments but until you have walked a few miles in our shoes can you really be this sure of yourself. At this point Krishnas focus is on making free video content teaching permaculture not courses because it reaches more people and its free for everyone and his channel isnt moneterized. If you feel so strongly about it what are you doing in your community and your everyday life to make a difference?
@bryanjagdeesh1892
@bryanjagdeesh1892 4 года назад
@@LeafofLifeWorld Of course there is no debate its either high pricing or nominal according to Indian standards and economy. There is either greed or no greed. Not something inbetween and call it relative and debate over it.
