AC Analysis: Parallel RLC Circuit. Calculate Voltage and Currents

In this video, I determine the voltage across and currents through an AC circuit that has a resistor, inductor, and capacitor in parallel. To do this, I calculate the impedances of the components, identify the voltage across the components, calculate the currents through each component, and then calculate the total current. I also calculate the total equivalent impedance of the three parallel components.
This example comes from a free, online, open source textbook by Tony Kuphaldt. You can find the example here:

Thank you for posting these videos. They're totally helping me out in my school work.

Holy! What a good video. I've been searching and trying to learn parallel impedance/admittance etc. for four hours. And you made it seem like simple arithmetic in a matter of minutes. Literally.

Yeah it's actually really cool. It takes me back to the DC days when we were only dealing with resistors lol just a little more complex 😅

I'm glad I found this channel. I love the channel Engineering Mindset because his ability to break things down is incredible but there's zero math in his videos. You're doing great work sir.

Wouldn’t ZL be at -90 degrees and ZC at 90 degrees, according to the ELI and ICE acronyms saying that the current of inductors lags the voltage and that the current of capacitors peaks before the voltage (on a phasor diagram)?

So we have 4 different currents flowing in this circuit. The mind blow for me is WHERE do these currents transition from one to another. For example, exactly where does I(T) at (-41.3 degrees) transition to I(R) at zero degrees? I have no problem with the calculations, but I can't visualize how/where these currents interact and morph in the wire. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Great video, but aren't we meant to convert capacitance to Farads?

The components dont have real or imaginary value only when the degrees are round like 90

Hey that was great, but just a smidge too fast. Not enough time to follow along.

Thanks for the comment. I hear what you're saying - I'm always trying to think of the balance between too fast and not fast enough and typically err on the side of too fast since you can pause the video when you need to. Would you prefer that you see me write things out in real time? Typically when writing out equations, I speed things up 3-5x and sometimes up to 10x.

@@ElectronXLabI agree it's very fast but we can pause the video and take more time when necessary. Your ability to put all that information in less than 7 minutes is amazing. I really appreciate it.
