just received my copies of Fly On The Wall and Powerage two great albums still have For Those About To Rock in the mail,I really want Flick Of The Switch on vinyl too great video Mick as always
Came across this video and it totaly reinvigorated my old passion for AC/DC. Thanks for that man!I became a fan in 1990 when I was 15. A dude in my art class brought the Highway to Hell tape in and I was knocked out by the tittle track and overral sound. To this day, it's still a top 10 album by any band for me. Shortly after hearing and getting that tape came the Razor's Edge, and of course it was an amazing time to have become a fan with such a great new album and the rock world totaly back into them. A couple of other thoughts are Power Up is as great as you say, and your high ranking of Ball Breaker had me revisted those lowfi groovers. Way better than it gets credit for. I'm really hooked on The Furor like I never have been. Since you like that gritty, bluesy low-fi vibe of rhe Ball Breaker material, I urge you to check out these fabulous tunes from ZZ Tops Mescalero if your not familiar with them. They too are muddy, gritty, groovy and criminally overlooked. Definitely check out Liquor, Alley Gator, Dusted, Tramp, Buck Nekid, Stacking Paper, What it is Kid and Going So Good.
Love your enthusiasm, very infectious. Gotta say I too love Power Up. I thought it was cause it came out during Covid lock down so seemed so good as it was new music, but I listen to it now and I still love it.
I’m watching this video again because I’m going to see an ac/dc tribute later this month and I new this would get me even more stoked! I posted an ac/dc ranking in the comments the last time I watched this but it has changed. Basically I just absolutely love everything! I have a few thoughts on this with my second viewing. I thought your bon and your Brian impressions were both really cool. However the thing that sticks out the most about this video with my second viewing is your love for for those about to rock! I love that also! I remember when I was a teenager I was getting into them huge and I was completing my cassette collection and that was one of the last ones I had to get! I never had much money growing up in a very rural area in Nova Scotia Canada. One day my mother walked out the road and someone was having a yardsale and she came back with a for those about to rock cassette that someone sold her for a dollar! I was blown away and kinda shocked because it was always one of the least discussed albums! Props for putting it number 2 but if im being honest I was kinda hoping that you would’ve went for broke and gave it the number one and gave it some much deserved respect especially because highway to hell gets tons of aderation already but if highway is your fav then it’s your fav 👍
hey Mick really cool your listening experience with Ac/dc , your examination of the albums is really crazy , you are great and also really nice , by the way a big greeting from Italy , ciao
'For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)' is my fav AC/DC album, 'Powerage' is a close second. 'Let's Get It Up' and 'Gimme a Bullet' are my favourites from those LPs. Amazing ranking video @Mick Watkins! I salute you from Brisbane, Australia 🫡🇦🇺.
Such a fun video Mick! Loved your Brian Johnson and Bon Scott impersonations! AC/DC is the band that changed my life a long with Black Sabbath when I was 9 years old. Hearing "Highway To Hell" and "Back In Black' was a real electrifying moment for me. I absolutely idolized Angus Young in fact him and Malcolm are pretty much the reason that I play guitar. Great to see you back making videos man. Looking forward to the next one! Here's my ranking. 16. Stiff Upper Lip 15. Blow Up Your Video 14. Rock Or Bust 13. Flick Of The Switch 12. The Razor's Edge 11. Dirty Dead's Done Dirt Cheap 10. Black Ice 9. High Voltage 8. Ballbreaker 7. Power Up 6. Let There Be Rock 5. Back In Black (A little bit burnt out on this album but it still holds a special place in my heart since it was the first album that I heard from them.) 4. Highway To Hell 3. Fly On The Wall 2. Powerage 1. For Those About To Rock
Yeah AC/DC and sabbath popped into my 😅consciousness in junior high school. Wow it sure was fun. Like around back in black. And sabbath was just amazing. Still I’ll listen to them.
Great show Mick, I enjoyed hearing about your AC/DC journey & I love your Brian Johnson impression. Makes me smile every time. My top 10 AC/DC albums are: 10. For those about to rock 9. Black Ice 8. Dirty Deeds 7. Let there be rock 6. PWR UP 5. Razor’s Edge 4. High Voltage 3. Powerage 2. Back in Black 1. Highway to Hell
Masterpiece! My favorite video of yours yet! I finished recording my AC/DC Rank-A-Rama right before watching this. Funny, we both discussed the Stiff Upper Lip guitar tone but had a totally different opinion about it. Overall, however, our rankings are more similar than they're different. Keep on rockin' and dreaming those wood paneled dreams, brother!!!
good to see you back. it's a hard choice for me between back in black, let there be rock, and highway to hell for top spot but i'd have to go with let there be rock for it's sheer stripped down vicious raw balls to the wall no holds barred assault. for me, it's acdc at their brutal core best. highway refined things and polished them a bit thanks to mutt lange but still kicks serious ass along with back in black. how about a priest top albums video? just got firepower and it kills. fun video as always and keep rockin
Just love this video, your stories about your love of music and how it come about are so heart warming, and please, PLEASE, keep the (Jack Black) vocals up, love it, best wishes from the UK
Great video Mick! AC/DC has been a favorite of mine for some time now and watching your video just made me love them more. I do think the Razors Edge should have been a little higher but I do agree with you in saying "Rock Your Heart Out" is a bad song. It's very stupid sounding. Highway to Hell is my favorite also, and though I don't agree that For Those About to Rock came second, I do agree with you in saying that its a master piece. I love that album! Here's my ranking of the albums: 1. Highway to Hell 2. Let There Be Rock 3. Back in Black 4. Powerage 5. High Voltage 6. For Those About To Rock 7. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap 8. The Razors Edge 9. Power Up 10. Fly on the Wall 11. Black Ice 12. Flick of the Switch 13. Ballbreaker 14. Blow Up Your Video 15. Rock or Bust 16. Stiff Upper Lip Thanks again for an awesome video!
I've been a fan since 1982. My first cassette was "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap". Shortly after, I got "Back in Black" and "For Those About to Rock". I worked my way backwards from there to complete the catalogue, with "High Voltage" being my last, as at the time it was the hardest to find. Needless to say, I've purchased every release since, and, after more than 40 years, they still remain my favourite band to this day. My least favourite album is "Black Ice", while my favourite is "Let There be Rock".
Awesome video! You have the ability to make any bad day better. As a fellow rock fan from Kentucky, I watch all of your videos and I just have to say thank you for the great content!! I agree with a lot of the picks you made today. I love most all of the AC/DC albums, I personally would have to put Back in Black at number one but that’s for sentimental reasons. That album is important to me bc of my Dad. Anyways, thanks for the awesome videos and I hope you are healing up well. Rock on 🤘🏻
@@DickTwatkins absolutely man! I truly appreciate what you do and I always look forward to your videos. I’m a big vinyl enthusiast as well. KISS is my all time fav band. I know you like blue oyster cult too. Do you have all their albums on vinyl?
My dad had those briefcase-like cassette cases too. He had For Those About to Rock and Fly on the Wall. But I didn't really get into them until I bought Back in Black on CD bc my mom was telling me how good it was. Then I started to get the Bon stuff which I thought was much better. Awesome video dude 🤘🏼
Thanks man! That’s freakin cool.I remember you talking about your Dads Fly on The Wall tape back in the day. It’s always fun hearing people’s origins and how they where exposed to cool bands.
My favorite Ac/Dc album is Powerage, which I bought at Circuit City. I also worked there for a short time in the mid 90s. It paid shit but it was a fun job.
As an Australian myself I obviously love this band. Been listening to them almost all my life. Great ranking man, just a little surprised how low Razors Edge is but each to his own. My ranking of Power Up has dropped a little since the initial excitement wore off. But hey, I respect your opinion. But the top 4 are clearly the top 4 for me. Edwin is a great guy by the way. His channel is very underrated. Here’s my ranking. 1. Back In Black 2. Highway To Hell 3. Powerage 4. Let There Be Rock 5. Flick Of The Switch 6. Razors Edge 7. Dirty Deeds 8. TNT/High Voltage 9. Blow Up Your Video 10. Fly On The Wall 11. FTATR 12. Stiff Upper Lip 13. Power Up 14. Black Ice 15. Ballbreaker 16. Rock Or Bust It was really hard to put ROB last because I still like it, especially the singles, but something has to go last.
I know you might be 100% with your list, But you should take a closer look at some albums like Ballbreaker. It's very low for how good it is on your list tbh. But respectable none-the less!
@@theseagullthatcould5698 I’ve listened to it many times. Just never been a big fan, I still like it and it has some great songs but don’t like the dry production very much and it has some filler, The Boogieman, Honey Roll, Love Bomb and Whiskey On The Rocks are all forgettable
Digging your videos. Your passion for music is awesome and inspiring. For decades, music has always meant the world to me, yet life can have a way of screwing with a person's priorities, making things that are important take a backseat. The love and passion in your videos helps shift my priorities back into order. Thanks for that, Mick, and keep up the great work.
Great video Mick My list Stiff Upper Lip Ball Breaker Rock or Bust Blow up your Video Black Ice Fly on the Wall Razors Edge For those about to Rock Dirty Deeds Power Up Flick of the Switch High Voltage Let there be Rock Powerage Highway to Hell Back in Black
Squealer is hands down my favorite Bon Scott song! I want to think that it's also the first AC/DC song I heard I can't remember I was a little kid God I can't even remember how old I was lol no are you ready was the very first AC/DC song I heard I was 4 or 5 and my uncle was drunk blasting that song and while Iiked what I heard it wasn't until I was 9 that I really got into AC/DC and that's when I heard squealer for the first time.
This an interesting list and it sent me back to listen to "Power Up" again - which is the point of watching these kinds of things. One big point of contention with AC/DC is where to place "Fly On the Wall" - lots of different views on that one but I'm not sure I've heard anyone defend the artwork before. I remember skipping that release back in the day exactly because I didn't want something that ugly in my collection. Today, it's one of the releases I listen to the most. Not placing "Back In Black" in the number 1 position is not too unusual - it's at #4 on my list despite the fact that I really can't listen to it anymore. I was 14 when this came out and I've just heard it way too many times. For what it's worth... 1. Powerage (1978 - Bon Scott) Harry Vanda & George Young 2. Let There Be Rock (1978 - Bon Scott) Harry Vanda & George Young 3. Highway to Hell (1979 - Bon Scott) Mutt Lange 4. Back In Black (1980 - Brian Johnson) Mutt Lange 5. Fly On the Wall (1985 - Brian Johnson) Angus & Malcolm Young 6. Flick of the Switch (1983- Brian Johnson) produced by AC/DC 7. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (1981 - Bon Scott) Harry Vanda & George Young 8. High Voltage (1976 - Bon Scott) Harry Vanda & George Young 9. For Those About to Rock We Salute You (1981 - Brian Johnson) Mutt Lange 10. PWR/UP (2020 - Brian Johnson) Brendan O'Brien 11. Black Ice (2008 - Brian Johnson) Brendan O'Brien 12. The Razors Edge (1990 - Brian Johnson) Bruce Fairbairn 13. Blow Up Your Video (1988 - Brian Johnson) Harry Vanda & George Young 14. Rock Or Bust (2014 - Brian Johnson) Brendan O'Brien 15. Ballbreaker (1995 - Brian Johnson) Rick Ruben & Mike Fraser 16. Stiff Upper Lip (2000 - Brian Johnson) George Young
Thanks for watching! Great ranking list also.Love to see Fly on The Wall so high! So after you listened to PWR UP again what was your thoughts? Subscribe if you like! I appreciate it 👍🏻
@@DickTwatkins Yes, I moved PWR UP up one position because I realized I knew the tunes much better than those on Black Ice. I think you're right, this one could grow over time.
Cool video , agreed highway to hell is there best and the greatest album ever made imo , night prowler is killer Shazbot, nanu nanu the last words bon scott ever said on an album 🤘the exit of a legend
ACDC is my favorite band of all time and I agree with a lot of your choices. 100% agree with Ballbreaker and pwr up being high on your list. Ruff Stuff is one of my absolute favorite songs. The only thing I disagree is that the greatest STD song of all time is growing on me by the darkness.
Cool video and interesting top, man.I love this band, they haven't bad albums, but I will have to put some releases that I also like lower than others, due to the fact that this is a rating. Now I want to show my top: 17 - "Rock Or Bust" (2014) 16 - "Stiff Upper Lip" (2000) 15 - "Power Up" (2020) 14 - "Fly On The Wall" (1985) 13 - "Black Ice" (2008) 12 - "Ballbreaker" (1995) 11 - "Blow Up Your Video" (1988) 10 - "High Voltage '75" (1975) 9 - "Flick Of The Switch" (1983) 8 - "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" (1976) 7 - "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)" (1981) 6 - "T.N.T." (1975) Five Greatest Albums They've Ever Made: 5 - "The Razor's Edge" (1990) 4 - "Let There Be Rock" (1977) 3 - "Powerage" (1978) My Fav ❤ 2 - "Highway To Hell" (1979) 1 - "Back In Black" (1980)

The two first AC/DC albums is actually High Voltage (Australia 1975) and T.N.T. (Australia 1976). Dirty Deeds is actually their 3rd album (Australia 1976). When they signed to Atlantic, High Voltage (Australia 1975) and T.N.T. (Australia 1976) were combined to one -> High Voltage (1976, Atlantic version). Many of the unused songs on this "new" version of High Voltage were later released on the Jailbreak'74 album, released in 1984, milking the AC/DC's popularity to cash in on it. Love it, though. Also a good sounding mini-LP. Agree with you regarding the newest album, it is really good, love the demon-vibe on it. I also agree on Down Payment Blues - the best AC/DC song ever, along with Overdose. Bon Scott. 🤟 If you really love Bon Scott, sit down, close your windows, turn off the light, put on Ride On, concentrate and listen. 👌 The T.N.T.-album actually sounds very very good. Probably their best recording during the Bon Scott time, and strongest songs on one album. Btw, one day, you will be big on RU-vid, Mick. I can see it.
This came up in my feed. Love your passion. For me For Those About To Rock is nowhere near as good as the albums before it, it’s just a bit tired sounding and over produced for me. Either one of Back In Black or Highway for the best one. The Razors Edge would be higher on my list. Didn’t think PowerUp was anything special really though a slight improvement over Rock Or Bust. Funny how we all hear things differently. My least favourite is probably Ballbreaker, too slow and bluesy for my tastes but I don’t dislike one of these records at all! 🤟🏻
Way to hold the note! Here: 1. Powerage 2. Back In Black 3. Highway to Hell 4. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap 5. Let There Be Rock 6. High Voltage 7. Flick of The Switch 8. For Those About to Rock... 9. The Razors Edge 10. Power Up 11. Ballbreaker 12. Blow Up Your Video 13. Stiff Upper Lip 14. Rock or Bust 15. Black Ice 16. Fly on The Wall Glad to hear that you resisted the Satanic Christian Baptist Church. Shazbot...Nanu-Nanu!
My top 10 1. Let There Be rock 2. Powerage 3. Highway To Hell 4. Back in Black 5. The Razor's Edge 6. Flick of the Switch 7. For Those About to Rock 8. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap 9. Black Ice 10. Ballbreaker
I read some where that at some point while recording the title track (let there be rock) angus' amp caught fire and he just kept playing by the end of the song there was nothing left of that amp. Idk where i read that or if it's true
16. Rock Or Bust Malcolm Young's songs in his mindset and death in site ... title cut 15. Blow Up Your Video 14. Fly On The Wall Brian Johnson was said to being "sick" through most of the recording 13. Black Ice (War Machine) 12. For Those About To Rock (title cut) 11. Highway To Hell 10. Powerup great come back in my opinion, Rock Or Bust, I didn't get
My favorite AC/DC album is Highway to Hell as well my second favorite would be their modern classic 2020 album Power Up such a masterpiece in my humble opinion...
My Ranking This is just how i currently feel I had to really think hard bout this. 1 Highway to Hell 2 Back in Black 3 Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap 4 High Voltage (1976 album) 5 Let There Be Rock 6 Powerage 7 For Those About to Rock We Salute You 8 Flick of the Switch 9 The Razors Edge 10 Ballbreaker 11 Black Ice 12 Rock or Bust 13 Power Up 14 Blow Up Your Video 15 Stiff Upper Lip 16 Fly on the Wall
Loved hearing your stories and enjoyed watching your ac/dc countdown BUT this fans list differs greatly from yours! There is no ac/dc album I dislike!!!! Here’s my order 16)fly on the wall 15)blow up your video 14)black ice 13)dirty deeds 12)powerage 11)rock or bust 10)pwr/up 9)ballbreaker 8)flick of the switch 7)for those about to rock 6)high voltage 5)stiff upper lip 4)let there be rock 3)razors edge 2)highway to hell 1)back in black
3 good songs ? If you think albums like back in black , highway to hell , Powerage, let there be rock only have 3 good songs per album you are sadly mistaken , time to turn in you’re rock/metal card if you ever had one and stick to rap or boy bands
You least favourite album, Stiff Upper Lip, is actually an album that sounds very very good, it is a audiophile-sounding album. I don't find the guitar-tone weak, it is really fat and in the face sounding. I guess you like more reverb on stuff, the 80's like Fly on the Wall-sounding? The Stiff Upper Lip-production is similar to the production of Ballbreaker, as you say in the video that you like very much. So this is a bit baffling from your side. Btw, one day, you will be big on RU-vid, Mick. I can see it.
Terrible video mick 😉 Great ranking here’s, and those stories were very epic!! 16) The Razors Edge 15) Black Ice 14) Stiff Upper Lip 13) Ballerbreaker 12) For Those About To Rock… 11) Fly on The Wall 10) Blow Up Your Video 9) Flick of the Switch 8) Rock or Bust 7) Back In Black 5) Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap 4) PWR UP 3) High Voltage 3) Let There Be Rock 2) Highway To Hell 1) Powerage
fly on the wall is my least favorite, mostly because its hard to hear brian singing, i hear him say "theres a fly on the wall" but i cant hear any other words, if they had just cranked his sound up 1 or 2 notches the song would be 10x better
