I can't stop dancing. I've got Rock And Roll on the brain. I spend almost every second of my time outside of work in my garage smoking cigarettes, drinking Mountain Dew, and playing High Voltage Rock And Roll on my guitar. Depression can not exist when you're high on Rock And Roll. When I hit an E chord on my guitar, and start to bend the strings, I can't resist the urge to start to tap my foot and bang my head. I received the gift of the Spirit Of Rock And Roll a long time ago, and never looked back. I've got a case of the "Rockin' Pneumonia."

I can get to the old Gibson guitar plant in about 25 minutes. I used to be about 10 min away but we moved out of Kalamazoo. There are some of the old Gibson guys that are building Heritage guitars out of part of the plant. There was talk of building a restaurant, hotel and revamping the old factory into a museum. A buddy of mine was working as a laborer at the old building when the whole Gibson museum etc. idea was in it's infancy. I think they couldn't find any backing so they were working in the plane and they took down a wall that seemed out of place and when they found what was hidden on the inside of the void they shut the site down and threw everyone out. They had found a whole big wall of acoustic guitar tops that were signed by every star that came to the plant. I think the whole plan fell apart regarding the museum, hotel etc. It would have been cool to have it saved. The last time I went by the smoke stack that had GIBSON painted vertically was down to the letters SON. Supposedly the smoke stack is going to be preserved in our local museum that already houses a Gibson exhibit. When all the men went off to fight in WWII Gibson hired women to work at the factory. They say that some of the best sounding instruments ever created were created during the war. Women have better dexterity in the hands which are naturally smaller and a family friend that worked at Gibson for years and started his own shop when Gibson folded up their tents and left Kalamazoo and he said that it is true about the instruments built by the women. Pete Moreno was the guitar guru and he was the go to guy in SW Michigan for fixing or whatever you needed. We lost Pete almost a year ago and the last time I was at his shop he had a 1962 SG that was freshly painted white but it wasn't assembled yet and I asked him how much that SG would probably go for money wise. He looked up at me and said "you cannot afford it" LOL. Whenever Eric Clapton came to Michigan, Pete would load up whatever he thought he might need and he would go to the venue and personally go thru and take care of Slow Hands guitars.... Pete new Les Paul, Billy Gibbons and Dusty ? from ZZ top, he met Elvis a couple times. Gibson actually told Elvis that if he smashed one more guitar they wouldn't sell him anymore. They list of stars that came to Kalamazoo and went to the factory is probably a mile long.... I had an old Gibson guy that played music with my dad tell me that it wasn't a Gibson until Pete put his hands on it. My dad worked at Gibson for a few years and Pete would tell me stories about my mom when she was still married to my dad. My dads band would play a gig and then they would all go home to my moms and continue to play music. It was a big loss for the many people that new and trusted Pete with their guitars. I just wished I had spent more time with him. I would just stop by hang out with him at the shop. I had him work on my 12 string that was my dads and I had him check out my First Act guitar that was sold with a Volkswagen vehicle and it would play thru the stereo of the car. It has VW all over it and the Vin number of the car is engraved on a piece of stainless steel that is mounted to the back of the head stock. The car is long gone by now and it probably razor blades or something. They wanted like $25 or $30 dollars to look into the Vin number but it wasn't that important to me. It's actually a nicely built guitar that has really good tone. It needs new strings because it's pretty flat and it just doesn't play that well. I just have to make it over to Guitar Center one of these days. I mainly play my 12 string because that electric is a totally different animal compared to the 12 string acoustic. I kind of play with a lazy left hand and I can get away with it for the most part on the 12 but not on that electric.....you cannot get away with anything on an electric. I apologize for the rambling on. It tends to happen once in awhile. Peace Rich
