0:10 They played this song at a lunchtime concert at my high school in 1977. The cost was 75 cents, but I only had 30 cents and they took it and let me in. I may be the only person to have seen AC/DC for only 30 cents.
You certainly were! I tried to get tickets for the face price last time they toured. Phoned up right on time - directed to websites selling them in the hundreds.
Even now, almost 50 years later, Bon Scott has never been matched. The epitome of Rock and Roll. The king is dead, long live the voice and attitude of Bon Scott.
Which is why, after nearly 45 years since we sadly lost him, over half of AC/DCs live set is still made up of Bon Scott tracks. And that's not including Back in Black, which he surely influenced/contributed to...
@@jimboslice9472 well, I’ve been to over 300 gigs in my time and you don’t often hear a sound which is so tight and kind of lean. It’s just a glorious, scuzzed up yet razor sharp noise.
I've seen these guys 4 times and everytime Angus never dropped a note. He could be jumping up and down, crawling around on the floor, his playing was flawless!
The lead singer from Krocus would have been a "far" better match. He does some AC/DC covers and it is eerie. That scary uncomfortable eerie because he almost sounds like Bon's twin.
@needsaride15126 thing was th auditioned plenty that sounded like Bon but the didn't want that because in thier minds thier brother couldn't be replaced.
@@killerfitz84 Indeed. Even earlier than this if lucky they recorded in film, almost competes with anything today when converted to digital. Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the Same" concert at Madison Square Garden from 1973 on DVD is a great example. Looks better than any concert filmed today. There are copies on RU-vid, but a little lower quality than the original DVD. Check them out if you want to see what a recording can do in 1973.
Still Australia’s best vocalist by a fucken long way. Then have a beer with him after a gig. They didn’t do concert’s back then. Pub band back then. Shits all over Brian Johnston . Sorry
Just read your comment. Check out the best rock band to come out of Australia since AC/DC called The Southern River Band. Listen to their amazing song Stan Qualen to find out why.
Groundbreaking.... This AC/DC of the Bon Scott era is unrivaled. Same with Van Halen in the Roth era.... This kind of rock music will never be played again.....
I'm a celebrant and at a funeral I was officiating this one time they played Whole Lotta Rosie. Apparently the guy was a massive AC/DC fan. So in this oh so quiet cemetary (Rookwood - if your from NSW Australia) they absolutely cranked it, So much so that just about every head was banging hard. Hard to forget that one..
As an old non stipendiary in the UK I find that classic rock tracks at funerals are becoming more common. Great For my funeral, I will be carried out to Broadside by Jethro Tull. That should wake up anyone who has dropped of during the service.
Straight up in your face, no frills rock and roll played loud, hard and fast. Legends STILL going strong for 50 years. R.I.P. Bon and Mal.. you are missed..
Bon Scott was the MAN!!his style un Fu**ING REAL!!Angus in his PRIME just goin off!!!Ive been listening to AC/DC For over 40 years & their tunes will never get old👍🏽😎!!!!
One of the greatest voices in Rock&Roll, nobody can imitate his voice or style. ACDC is my favorite band of all time, they never fail to bring the best Rock&Roll.
I saw this lineup at the Tennessee theater in Nashville May of 1979. I had a hiss in my ears for three days. The Tennessee theater is a very small venue maybe seating 500 people. Note the nap sack Angus has on. It is the battery pack and transmitter for his wireless guitar cord. I think one of the first transmitters of this kind.
@@aha3885 They had crowds that size with shitty ass Axel Rose doing a half assed imitation of Bon. The crowds have been larger with Brian back on the mic.
God. Just raw, loud, fast, sweaty, unfiltered rock and roll. Unpolished perfection. And I gotta give a shout to my boy Phil back there beating the s**t out of his drumkit.
This berzerking...just taking 2000s players to CLASS; so messy and from the epicenter of R'n'R. Cigs, chocolate milk, and sleep-deprivation. We ain't never gonna see a guy like this again; Angus fork'n Young. Study up, children
It is a tribute to his dedication. As a kid he had one hobby. Playing guitar. One pass time, playing guitar. Malcomb once said that Angus would come home from school. Lock himself in his room and play guitar till time to sleep.
This was 1977 when punk music was supposedly trashing all the older bands away . These guys have outlived them all with their blend of RnR. The Pistols, Clash et. were just R n R bands after all
I didn't know how lucky I was in '77 when I saw a then relatively unknown band called AC/DC open for Aerosmith. The crowd actually was a bit rude when they started, but after Angus picked up a few things that had been thrown on stage and threw them back, then proceeded to go on a sheer shredfest as only he can do, things turned around. Frankly, Aerosmith was a bit tame in comparison. But my buddy and I couldn't hear anything for about a half hour once the concert was over. Pretty sure I permanently lost a bit of hearing that night, but hearing and seeing Bon and Angus and the the boys in their absolute prime is something I will never forget.
YES .. Heels Bells was a great album but this is ACDC........... it was downhill after that as far as I am concerned... they still kicked ass but the vocals were not there.... sadly
I can see many guys around here. It makes me feel so happy. Continue rocking on with this masterpiece! Me and You, as the new generation, are prohibited to let this masterpiece disappears! 🤘🏼🎸 Greetings from Angola! 🤘🏼🎸❤️
You can actually see how loud this was in the studio, by the horizontal lines on some of the TV cameras caused by their video pickup tube filaments vibrating from the powerful sound waves of the amps! Incredible sound and picture quality for 1977!
I saw these guys two or three times in the late 70s. I was 18 in 1980. I recall having ringing in my years for days after each gig. I also had a sore neck from the incessant air guitar. Awesome. Simply awesome.
This is the most driving and staggeringly great performance by any rock band ever. I played to a musician friend and he agreed that the playing was 'ridiculously good' given that it was a live gig.
Wow, it's hard to summarise that performance. There are just so many superlatives that apply. Just mindblowingly raw, electrifying intensity. Thunderous and tight backbeat, stellar guitar work and awesome vocals.
Bon Scott just oozed Charisma, you always felt with him that he considered it his personal responsibility to absolute kick ass and blow everyone away in the crowd by showcasing just how bad-ass AC/DC really are.
70s were trash. Ac/dc were the exception, not the rule. Most bands were drugged up and their musical output was trash compared to the music of the 60s. music dipped in 1969.
Angus is rock royalty!! I used to argue with Shane Sweeney back in middle school in the 1980s about who was better Angus or Mick Mars of Motley Crue. Now I'm 50 yrs old, and I have to admit Shane was always right Angus was better. Awesome. This song holds up.
@@peterolsson3662 the sugar high is a myth, it was just pure manic musical energy and nicotine, he never drank or did drugs other than occasional toke.
Angus was great at that time, saw AC/DC on their lick up your daughters tour mid seventies. Wilko Johnson did a similar thing and also went all around the theatres gangways while playing his guitar with one of the first radio amp connections. 1970’s were great for live music.
