A reported once asked Angus, how it felt to be one of the best rock guitarists ever. He laughed and said "well...I don't know about that, I'm not even the best guitarist in our band."
No "probably" about it! The man was the rarest kind of rhythm player; a metronome that could swing the beat! That's incredibly hard, but it came naturally to him!
@@robloxvids2233 what's happened? Your comedy never took off? Do you know why? It's dire, absolutely dire, you're about as funny as a turd in a swimming pool buddy. That divorce really hurt you bad eh? Your kids got a new dad now, is that why you try to pee on my cornflakes in the comments here big man? Your kid having a new dad has turned you bad, I can understand why she divorced you though and that reason is because you're a loser. I've subbed so I won't miss any more comedy but you will miss your son, just think he is in another house now living with another man as his dad, guess that really f*cks you over right?
@@cockroach5717 Then why was AC/DC not as tight with Simon Wright and Chris Slade? Both very good players but they didn't have Phil's pocket. Malcom was a decent 3 cowboy chord player but let's not talk sh*t. Phil was the reason AC/DC had such a Groove back in the day
Aside from being the greatest rhythm guitarist EVER, Malcolm made those strings sound like they were as big as railroad tracks, strumming every one of them every time while perfectly muting the ones not played. Very few can play the guitar as well as Mal did. RIP, legend and rhythm guitar god, you are very sorely missed.
Its like human’s kidneys, Malcolm is left and Angus is right, you can live without 1 kidney you get hurt, but without 2, you can’t. AC/DC is same, they have amazing Rock or Bust album (2014 Dec. ) with Malcolm riffs and new album coming in 2020-2021 with Malcolm riffs too.
I am sure there would have been a band called ACDC somewhere in the 70s or 80s, it was a popular word in the culture and would have been picked up by some artists somewhere if the young brothers had not staked their claim on it, might not have got far without Young brothers though
In a thousand years, far away on some distant planet, kids will still be popping in Back in Black and playing along with the entire album. I'd like to think.
You can really hear how hard he hit those strings, but you can also pick up on how and why he lightens up his attack at just the right bits, too. An absolute master at wringing every last nuance out of deceptively simple riffs.
Malcom wrote some of the greatest rock riffs in music history! Thats a fact. Thank you M.Y. because of you I had some of the best teen years of my life. For those about to rock...FIRE! I salute you! RIP buddy.
George helped them translate their musical ideas into the production/recording phases. He knew how to capture exactly what they were going for. Without him the albums/songs would have sounded very different from the way they did
He really is the greatest rhythm player for the greatest band!! I wasn't alive for the prime of ACDC but they really inspired me as a drummer, this rhythm section is absolutely phenomenal.. the best of the best! Here we are in 2021 and we're all still rocking' to ACDC. This is one of my favorites from them.. Much love to everyone here and keep on rockin'
In a great interview Angus talks about how he and Malcolm always combined to make one amazing guitar. He had a deeper understanding than anybody about Malcolm's creativity, drive & power as the force behind AC/DC. After his death there was never any question of ending the band. Eventually brother Stevie was tapped to play rhythm guitar demonstrating again the depth of music & passion in the Young family. Truly lucky to have been alive at the same time as AC/DC. We salute you!!
Two brilliant siblings that bounced off each other ! can you imagine growing up in the house with the pair of them ? how many moments of brilliance shone through !
Malcolm was the genius behind AC/DC he wrote al the hooks. all of the bridges. he created the structure of the songs themselves. not sure what they would have sounded like without him, but most likely they would have been a popular bar band in Australia, and that's it.
Still the best rhythm guitar player who ever lived. But most people forget, he was the main songwriter in AC/DC too. So many unbelievable riffs he wrote.
Legend has it... Malcolm didn’t pick the strings of his guitar, he just bounced up and down and used his dominion over gravity to make his Gretch strike the weapon between his fingers in time with the heartbeat of the universe.
An absolute perfectionist, I saw AC/DC with The Late Malcolm Young (R.I.P) three times, and both him and his ultra talented brother, were incredible live. In fact, I’d say AC/DC sound better live, than their studio stuff, a testimony to their talent. And that classic rock tone AC/DC have is the best sounding tone.
Oh he definitely was. Angus and Bon may have been the face of the band at that point and then Angus afterwards. It was Malcolm that drove the band. He was the brains behind the group and he was the one that came up with most of the riffs
The tone of rock’s best rhythm section.....PERFECTION! I’m still smiling at all the music they’ve given us, and keep giving us! PWR⚡️UP is a fantastic album! Great for an anniversary, and tribute to the man himself! Love it! So do you!!!
This actually gives my goose bumps. I feel what is more suprising than the beat is the clean picking. If I would play the same thing there would be snarl and at least touching some other strings here and there but Malcom is 100% clear ... amazing. The music remains.
I used to love disconnecting one speaker at a time from my stereo during this intro just so I could hear Malcolm and Angus' parts individually. And overlapped they were magic.
Amazing to get so much clarity inside all that grind. You can hear how much Alex Lifeson influenced not only his rhythmic approach but his tone as well, this one practically screams "Fly By Night". RIP Malcolm.
At the start when you can hear Angus faintly, listen to how perfectly each chord is hit and that quack quality. thanks Ricardo, a bonus for tone geeks like myself.
I've always liked AC/DC and I've played guitar 30 plus years now. Of course Angus rips but I've always liked Malcolm, just simple, straight forward rock. I'll jam with buddies but never played in a band. Don't really have the time or the dedication but if I did I think being the rhythm guitarist and singing backing vocals would suit my fine. RIP Malcolm. Thanks for making your mark in rock n roll.
Malcolm was the biggest inspiration for me when I began guitar. I never aimed to be a lead guitarist......my total focus was being the BEST rhythm guitarist I could be. I was in a band and having a convo with my sister (at the time pregnant) and we got to talking about guitars n music..... this was how the convo went.... SISTER: so are you lead guitarist? ME: nah im Rhythm.... SISTER: Wow!! THATS what im going to name him. .....and it came to pass....that Rhythm Marshall was born..... BEST rocking' name ever!!! RIP Mal thanks for being my inspiration.
I’ve always said the first person I’d want in my dream band is Malcom on rhythm guitar with that metronome he had for a right hand. So tight and in the pocket, it’s ridiculous.
