Why would you film the Screen that is doing a recording, why not pull the footage off the Tool's card and splice it into the RU-vid video... then we could actually SEE what youre doing... Essentially I'm staring at a screen filming a screen.. and that is not ideal, for a review.
Eric, if you use the tool for your repair videos, don't just film off the screen, but use the record function of this tool and then cut the video together. Yes this might be more work, but I think the quality improvement of the pictures would absolutely be worth that.
Did Eric get a new camera? This video seems very clear and extremely high quality or have I just not noticed the switch in other videos. Looks excellent and love both types of videos, keep up the good work.
Good review, on a handy product. I have an older version of the Delco cam and find it limited use. Usually if it comes out, things are going to get tedious. Seems the newer one eats the batteries faster. I agree with the gripe about putting it away. Also worth mention, it can be a pain to get the cable wound just right, anything less and the lid won't want to close. While unsure how it would work, one thing I think would be nice to have, would be some sort of orientation. Often (say fuel tank), when you get a little too far away or hit an obstruction and the snake bends, you are guessing which direction the camera is pointed. Usually, this results in having to pull it out and repeated attempts. All in all, it can really save your rear from time to time.
Hey Eric, so once you have a "spy cam" :D why not to do "Decarbonizing engine with water" 2nd attempt :) But this time you could show us that it really works (or not) - I mean you can use your inspection camera to show the valves from the intake side after that. Would be nice :)
holly buckets 240 dollars.... i am thinking to buy a USB borescope inspection camera for 20 bucks and use it with my laptop, i just can justify 240 dollars for something that i wouldnt use that much.
Is it just me or did anyone else imagine this particular video from the angle of EricTheProctologist? Just imagine if Eric chose a different path in life... Oh the videos he would make.
Another possible use of this tool is to visualize assemblies via a drain plug hole or filler tube - e.g. the engine bottom end, transmission, differential, etc. Granted, such a visualization to diagnose an issue would prove inconclusive unless actual damage (or evidence of damage) is observed, but at least this tool provides that option.
Yup! I just got this one on ebay for $12.99. 15 foot cord, variable brightness LEDs, and laptop screen is much bigger, more flexibility using recording software..hell, I could stream it to the world in real time! Looks great too. Plus I could buy 18.5 of them for the same price. So weird how this review vid shows up a couple of days later. I thought it was Google target maketing...oh Big Brother. www.ebay.com/itm/2M-5M-7M-10M-15M-Mini-Waterproof-Endoscope-USB-Borescope-Inspection-Camera-Lot-/221544652894?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:3160
Someone needs to create a USB version of this to be used with laptops and netbooks. Attach a 5-15 foot male usb cable to an HD camera from an old cell-phone or webcam (assuming the size is small enough), maybe even add a single LED (brighter than this one). The software would be a breeze to create and voila, $25-$200 inspection camera (depending on available materials) that is better in every way imaginable. If they can fit a quad-core processor, 2GB of ram, 64GB storage space, a 14+ Megapixel video camera, a super-capacity battery, networking hardware, and other stuff into a tiny smart-phone... then wtf? I want a an inspection camera that will give me a reach-around for that kind of cash.
Eric, if the cable is flexible enough they are handy to inspect rear drum pads through the adjuster port (And the access port is large enough) then having to deal with moving the adjuster and then beating off the rusted drum.
I do know from experience that when you try to splice in video shot at a different resolution, frame rate, or definition sometimes it can cause wacky outcomes. But yes, it would be very nice to see the actual footage shot by the tool
defently like this one better than the other one very nice Eric. was reading a bit more about this tool it looks like you can get two different size cameras for use on this but while reading I didn't understand when they said this. 110° Viewing Angle & 180° Flip: 2 settings to reverse viewed object.. did you encounter this part Eric??
Hey Eric, according to the box it'll flip the image over for you if the camera twists upside down to help keep your bearings. I have experienced that first hand and it's a nice feature you didn't touch on. Thanks for the review though. Makes me happy I only spent $13 for mine!
That was much better and cheaper :-)) Sounds like a 12v to 6v adaptor could be handy. It suffered with the same lighting method that was on the previous one, the leds around the lense are causing problems, you could try using a seperate lighting ring behind the camara :-)
Cool tool. It may be my machine, but the audio seems to be out of sync with the video. It's most noticeable when Eric is speaking on camera, like a he intro and outro. Any one else seeing that?
Cool I want one of these. The tool that puts everything to bed when someone is arguing that they don't have something like a cracked piston. Makes life easier diagnosing problems and seeing where there may be an area that may need some attention as far as cleaning. Cool little toy.
*******You should do a before and after shot of behind valves and the top of pistons of using an engine treatment such as seafoam, Lucas or tap water, transmission fluid ect.**********
Hey Eric. Funny that this camera only gets 2 stars on Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BTEXRPQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER They complain of it having an image that's washed out. Did you experience such thing? I'm looking for an inspection camera myself. Thanks.
Seems like a far better tool then the last one. The battery pack could be a issue; might be worth trying it out with some high cap rechargable cells (2500mAh or more). Suprised that this doesn't have external power either (might be able to rig something up)
I bet a Pro one of these would kick ass ! Still grainy even though the other one is claimed to be not as good. Reminds me of the crappy resolution of x-ray images that will likely take experience or even lessons on how to interpret the fuzz.
It is funny how the view through a tiny camera can make a familiar environment seem alien. Reminds me of the early videos from the shipwreck exploring ROVs...
Unfortunately alot of the stuff he buys or gets for free is garbage. Spend the money and get a real tool. I know there expensive because i work for a dealer. But cheap stuff will give you cheap results. Other then that great channel and info as usual.
The fact that the camera has a memory card sorta makes the video out feature redundant to some extent. Then again,, in order to make a copy of the footage using the card, you'd have to pull the card then transfer the data to presumably a PC and then save the file. The video out allows you to send the footage to a PC, larger monitor, etc., real time. The video out feature is a very nice feature if you're teaching a class and want many people to be able to see what you're doing.
***** He's doing a review of the tool, which includes looking at the screen of the tool in action. Though I agree that a little footage pulled from the card would be cool to see, but wouldn't really be necessary for the review of a tool like this, I think.
drink15 Yes, that's why I commented. If it hadn't bothered me that I was watching a sponsored review of a tool which I learned as much from looking at the box as I did from the video, I wouldn't have commented. After so many times a person ignores reading the information available, just to then have no clue what to do, I get bothered. I really like Eric and I don't intend to unsubscribe because of some of the annoyances, but I'm not going to sit in the back with my mouth shut if there's an OBVIOUS better way to go about things. I'm going to raise my hand, share tips AND grievances, and then watch the next video. He can learn and improve, you can learn and improve, and so can I.
Andrew Miguelez That nice and all, but you didn't provide anything that was helpful in anyway. What you did is called trolling. Not everyone read manuals because some people just like trying to figuring it out on there own. Like a puzzel. Also, It wasn't sponsored. He paid for it.
Wow thanks for the comments, the ebay ones work great and many of them are wifi to use with cell phone screens/capture etc. Not Eric's fault but this AcDelco cam is way too clunky and expensive for limited use applications. The 10-20$ ebay cameras work great so far.
You have been a great teacher over the years , I work on trucks/prime movers . Whole different ball game at times.... but it’s easy to understand you which is what I love
