There is a service bulletin on those Goodman front return air handlers, some of them have a defective disconnect.When the disconnect insert is removed one line stays energized. I think it applies to some 2015 - 2016 models.Some bottom returns are also included in the bulletin. Double check for power!

Min 7:50 (Sorry! you answer this question a few seconds later. 👍 ) With the heat pump, "they say" the default is usually heat, i.e. the Orange-wire reversing valve needs energy to put the system into cooling mode (right?). On this unit, default is Cooling mode (correct?). Thanks for making! An adding to my "short fix" collection.
@LexVance

Yes, on this Goodman heat pump, the orange wire has to be energized for the unit to cool. Thank you so much for watching hg2!

Heck yea! I think that's a fantastic business to get into. It can't get outsourced & appliances will always break down sooner or later so the work will always be there. Thank you so much for watching James! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com

If you don’t have a jumper could you just connect the wires at the t stat and still use the short pro tool?
@LexVance

Chris Marquez You sure can. You can use a wire nut. Just put one in at a time with the red. Thank you so much for watching Chris! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com

Yes. On the fuse terminals. Thank you so much for watching Damien!

Great video Lex! I have a question if it was a short on the green wire which is fan, what would that indicate?
@LexVance
@LexVance 6 лет назад
Robert Munguia I would look for a nic or see if the green wire was skinned up & shorting on something first. If there was no sign of damage on green, I'd remove the green wire from the t stats G slot. then I'd take a wire that's not being used in the t stat & put it in the G slot on the t-stat & put that same wire where the green was inside the air handler. That's all there is to it! Thank you so much for watching Robert! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com

Lex Vance oh ok so it wouldn’t be the fan that is shorted because it’s 208-230v right?
@LexVance
@LexVance 6 лет назад
Robert Munguia Yep you're right. The actual is high voltage. When the fuse pops or a transformer frys, its the 24 volt low voltage side.

how did you connect those wire jumpers i bought some and they came seperate .. do you just wire them all together
@LexVance
@LexVance 6 лет назад
blaine stapp Yep. I cut them so they're all the same size. Then, I stripped the ends & wire nutted them together. Then, I wrapped wire nut in black electrical tape & melted it a little with a lighter. Thank you so much for watching Blaine! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com

I have a set that I fused one wire. If I have a short in the control I hook it to red and jump out the other wires with an amp probe on the fused wire it will help trouble shoot problems. Mine like his have 4 wires. I work on 2 stage stuff a lot.

My ac cuts on whenever you cut it on at the thermostat. But when it reaches temp it stops cutting back on. What’s wrong here ? Please help

@@LexVance I changed out the thermostat this winter and it “fixed it” in heat mode. Now it’s doing it with the ac. I am thinking maybe the circuit board in the furnace. (Dual heat system) its a new heat pump and we just used the old gas furnace. Maybe from 2010

SuperMudMuppet Funny you ask. My video tomorrow is about the temp gun. It was 3 degrees off from my Fieldpiece ST4 temp meter. I have both on my website on the "Good Tools For Apartment Maintenance" page. Thank you so much for watching SuperMud! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com
@actechformallyyomama746
@actechformallyyomama746 5 лет назад
SuperMudMuppet the infrared has a cone shape reading. When shooting it at a vent per day it’s reading the surface temp of the vent and wall unless you’re reading the surface temp like touching the end to a pipe.

Can you use a Multimeter to diagnose a short at the fuse holder?

You can ohm the wires with your meter to find the short. Ive always used poppers & pro tools though so I'm not familiar with that method. Thank you so much for watching Jim! www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com

I got a question for you do you ever get residents living on the top floor getting all the heat saying that their AC is not cooling. They try to reach 70 degrees and it's reading 74 the air temp is good 57° coils are clean fan is blowing good pressures are good. I tell them they're not going to reach 70 degrees. The rooms have 2 ton units inside and out. It should be enough to cover the square footage in the room cuz it's not very big do you ever get this kind of issues and how did you deal with it? Oh work in south texas. Hot as hell here
@LexVance
@LexVance 6 лет назад
Daniel Martinez All the time! I say to them as I point up at the ceiling that "its literally 180 degrees on the other side of the sheet rock". And, that they live on the 3rd floor & heat rises. I do that after I show them that their system is good. I make sure they see me taking wet bulb readings & checking the coil & everything. I have an app called "Emerson Check & Charge" that I show them on my phone with all the calculations and saying every thing is good.The app is free in your play store. The ceiling insulation sucks at apartments. Always has been & always will be. Sometimes I tell'em that if I have to. I live in Florida. Its been 108 heat index here. I feel your pain skid.
