t5jerry just did the same with my sons 2007 Ford Fiesta, took the headlamp out....took a few minutes, but easier than taking the wheel lining out. Thank You Ford for putting it in a silly place. I haven’t worked on a Ford for ages, other than this, it’s easy to work on, great fun. My other cars are Japanese.....needless to say, I don’t need to work on them!
We just serviced Mondeo mk3 1.8petrol stw lhd with a real service machine. High pressure port is easy to access. I took the headlight off (and grill, very easy), but in my opinion the low pressure port is not easy to access and we could not use it. There was not enough space, you can barely fit your hand through the hole behind the headlight to the wheel housing. So we did the service only by using the high pressure port because the service machine can do it by using it. Very stupid place. Edit: Aircon worked before the service, atleast 11 years without service and seems to work better after the service, more and faster cold.
How much you fill has nothing to do with pressure meassurement. You need to know how much in weight you need to refill. So, in front of, and after each short fill, weight the cilinder again and again. Small steps and take your time. Test your airco again and again if it improves. Never fill to much, because your airco compressor will die. Note: you should have a difference if you meassure the general air temp inside the car and the cold air from the airco vent of at least 5 degrees. Best is plus minus 8(Kelvin). Also, if your airco is empty, fix the leaks first and use a vacuüm pump to prepare. No emission, please try. Thanks.
Hi. I found this video extremely helpful thank you very much. However, did you realise that Hex-3 in fact attaches an integral access flap built into the arch? all you need to do is cut along the two grooves ( there for that purpose) either side of the screw and the flap is ready for use. Now you only need to undo Hex-3 to gain access to the valve! I had wondered why the valve was so inaccessible unlike the high px port, but as it turns out, that's not the case :-)
Hi, Start the car and run the AC at max low for about 3 minutes. You must then turn off the engine before recharging. Glad everyone likes the Video. I recently changes all the brakes and pads around the car, fitted new drop links and replaced the rear anti-rollbar with high quality poly bushes. All pretty easy stuff but forgot to do a video of it. just ask if you are about to embark on any of this and need help. S.
Thanks a lot to you and to your 12 year old son :) I am having some other issues also with Mondeo MK3, can anybody help ? on idle run or loww acceleration the Ghia Petrol engine shuts itself down...even when the car is in motion and steering and brakes gets hard...
Thanks, Ive the same job to do. I must set up some good music in the garage while i'm working! By the way, I guess the can was empty when you disconnected it. If there was some left could you top up later?
I do these recharges at work. You MUST run the engine and A/C while recharging, not swtiched off!! Great video though. This same procedure works for all MK1 Focuses (1998-2005)
