Academy Conversations: 'Decision to Leave' w/ Park Chan-wook 

just watched it and this is the single biggest snub this year by a country mile. it's obviously ridiculous that it was left out of the running for best international feature, but the thought of Elvis and The Fabelmans being nominated for best director and best picture when this film got left out is honestly criminal.

This man better get nominated for Best Director. The movie was phenomenal.

Give him the international director spot pls :/

I loved that phones were embraced so much in the film. So many directors aren’t making movies set in modern day just to avoid that problem, and it’s not a surprise that Park Chan-Wook was thinking the same- I’m so glad he decided to tackle how to make phones cinematic rather than retreat

what a phenomenal artist he is, Decision to Leave is a much better movie than everything everywhere all at once in my opinion

You guys disrespected the master Park Chan-wook, no nominations for best director, editing, cinematography or foreign film. smh

I absolutely love Park Chan Wook and Korean drama/thriller/horror etc. I do wish that THIRST would get more recognition as I rarely see that film mentioned as often as say Oldboy or The Handmaiden. I'm all for a director evolving and expanding their genre of work, especially someone as incredible and specifically nuanced as PCW. Although I do kind of long for another gritty and dark movie like the Vengeance Trilogy.... I feel like THIRST was a great bridge between his early "gritty-violence revenge" era and the recent more polished and 'wide scope" storytelling.

I feel like this movie needs a Parasite-esque Oscar push to make more people aware of it. I just found out about it in the last few days while looking at top ten lists... and not a whole lot slips under my radar. No one knows this movie exists and it's just as good as Parasite, although probably not as accessible.

PARK CHAN WOOK IS BEST DIRECTOR OF AII TIME.

It would really look bad on Hollywood if another parasite comes about. Korea and Japan keep producing very good films in this decade, sadly many of them without any recognition internationally.
