We are back travelling! This time, we chose to explore Guatemala, the Land of the Maya! This Central America country is loaded with natural, historical and cultural appeal!
From ancient Maya cities lost deep in the lush rainforest to intimidating smouldering volcanoes, through jungle-fringed lakes in the highlands, colourful colonial cities and distinctive indigenous culture, everything in Guatemala is magical.
Guatemala is of course the birthplace and heartland of the ancient Maya where traditions and religious rituals mingled with Catholic belief continue to thrive,.
Guatemalan delicious food is a based of Maya cuisine with Spanish colonial influences. Dishes prominently include corn, beans, rice and chillies. it is also the birthplace of chocolate and home of the popular Hass avocado! And of course, their arabica beans produced one of the best coffee in the world.
Welcome to Acatenango Volcano adventure! Nestled in the heart of Guatemala, this towering giant beckons adventurers from around the world to conquer its challenging trails and witness its awe-inspiring beauty. As we lace up our boots and set out on this epic journey, we are filled with excitement and anticipation for what lies ahead.
The hike begins at the base of the volcano, where the lush greenery of the surrounding landscape sets the stage for the adventure to come. With each step, the air grows thinner and the terrain more rugged, but the stunning views unfolding before us keep us pushing forward.
As we ascend higher and higher, the world below transforms into a patchwork of rolling hills and distant mountains, painting a picture of raw, untamed beauty. The trail winds its way through dense forests, across rocky terrain, and along steep ridges, offering a true test of endurance and determination.
But it's all worth it when we finally reach the summit. Standing atop Acatenango Volcano, we're greeted by a panorama that takes our breath away. To one side, the majestic peaks of neighbouring volcanoes rise proudly against the horizon, while to the other, the fiery glow of Volcán de Fuego reminds us of the powerful forces that shape this landscape.
So come along with us as we journey to the top of Acatenango Volcano, where every step is a testament to the power of nature and the resilience of the human spirit. This is more than just a hike - it's an experience that will stay forever.
