Search Me Oh God ( Samoan & English Version Accapella ) Search me, O God, And know my heart today; Try me, O Savior, Know my thoughts, I pray. See if there be Some wicked way in me; Cleanse me from every sin And set me free.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (August 26), I played O God, Accept My Heart This Day for Sunday School Assembly. It was written by Matthew Bridges (1800-1894) and set to the tune, ST. PETER, composed by Alexander R. Reinagle (1799-1877).
Yes, this is a terrific job! And I've heard as well that the melody is Maori. It's really beautiful and inspiring coming in such a sweet tight harmony with the English verse I understand and then these beautiful words that I don't understand. I came to this song by way of two old haole (like me) gospel singers, Glenn Payne and George Younce. Anybody got charts for this awesome close harmony? I'd love to do it in my church with some guys. Peace be with you all.
My companion Elder Moe from Independence gave me an I-Land CD. My favorites were I Come to the Garden Alone and Did You Ever Talk to God. I have been looking for these songs for the past 7 years. Do you know how I can get a hold of them?
