I learned some theory on the Maroczy Bind; Though Master Canty but don't play the Scilian as black (e5 is most of my games but I dabble with Alekhine and Caro Khan) and as white I'm learning the Jedi ways of the c3 Scil. Great Energy on the video. One way to improve is have the lines on the analysis board show up better or have the main line already on there; example: as you played a deviation 5.... Bg7 first so it was always listed as the main line but you spent most of the time working on 5.... Nf6 so it was all in parenthesis. Something to think about in future videos.

I'm a 1700 bullet player/1800 blitz/1900 rapid and I've been playing Bg7 before Nf6. Now I see why that gives White more options. Will mos def be changing up my move order in future games. Also like the humor you put in - definitely a change up from a lot of chess videos. Will come back to this channel again.

I am an Accelerated Dragon player and just last week I was bashed by a Moroczy Bind set-up, if I only have watched this video of yours earlier then maybe it could have been a different result. in the position @8:59 you didn't even mention the fact that the rook was en pris in the corner for a juicy exchange after they captured the knight so that tactic was actually much more important than it looked.... I'll keep watching the video though cause what you are going over is LIT!

I really like how easy is the game for black with this line and dangerous for white at the same time, one thing missing tho was Dd3 rather than Dd2

Thanks man. Love your energy. I currently play the new-ish Qb6 line but it's subtle and takes some study. The plans are a bit more flexible but hard to distinguish. In your line, isn't Qd3 a recent improvement?

Not very recent been around a long time! But black has some lines for it. Roman Dzindzichashvili has the best files on the line in particular

Yeah, the deeper I dig into any line using Stockfish the more I realize most openings, even those deemed mildly dubious like the Accelerated Dragon, lead to a draw with best play. That really surprised me. I used to think that with absolute best play 0.6 would lead to a win, you know? But there's still ripe ground for experimentation on both sides, which is nice to know.@@JamesCantyIII

The move you played is hyper-accelerated; it could be clearer. My theory is like 20 years old, I used to play the mainline with Ng4 instead of the Bc6 path that you mentioned. Good advice for club players, but in your idea of d6 instead have you ever had anyone good not play Be2? Keep up the good work on the videos, I learned a lot!

Hey James Canty the third, I've always wondered... Why is it important for black to play Nc6 right immediately after white takes on d4 with his knight instead of playing Bg7 first?

Good question! Because white can get a Maroczy bind with Be3 quickly and the ideal setup we want in it, if Bg7 then white goes c4 and then Be3, having and ideal Maroczy bind setup.
