Stay tuned to the end of the video to see what my boyfriend thinks about ABSN programs! (We started dating the same year I started mine) Accelerated nursing programs are the best option if you have a bachelors degree in non nursing discipline but want to become a RN. I went to an accelerated nursing program that was 12 months! Sometimes I look back and can’t believe I managed lol! But I hope this video gives you some insight. In this video I explain what it was like and some faq about my experience.
Here’s a more detailed breakdown of what each quarter of my ABSN program looked like:
QUARTER 1
Pathophysiology (the way disease process affect the human body)
Pharmacology ( Medications)
Health Assessment (learning how to perform head to toe assessments)
Fundamentals of nursing (the basic nursing skills and study)
QUARTER 2
Med Surg- the hardest class in my opinion
Community health nursing
Research
Pharmacology apps
QUARTER 3
Psych nursing
Care of woman and children
Nutrition
Professional Leadership
QUARTER 4
Senior seminar
Care for the older adult
Preceptorship
If you’re new here, Welcome! Thank you so much for stopping by. I’m a psychiatric registered nurse. I’m getting ready to start a psychiatric nurse practitioner program and plan to share it with you all.

Im glad you mentioned NCLEX passing rates. For me, it shows how prepared the school's students are for the NCLEX. Even though i will study hard...i want to make sure the school has a good reputation with the passing rates too.

I decided to get my ADN after receiving my undergrad because it is much cheaper and RN-BSN programs aren’t that expensive either. Accelerated programs will break the bank, but I’m definitely envious of how fast you all finish. My program is two years long in addition to the 1 year long RN-BSN program I am required to complete. awesome video! Very well put together and the ending was cute! I can’t wait for more content🤗

I'm applying to an 12 month ABSN program as well and I've been looking for a video that explains precisely what being in an ABSN program is like. I really appreciate that you included a picture of your syllabus to give an example of coursework and what to expect in terms of course load. I don't think people really know what they're in for until they get into the program so thank you, this was probably one of the most informative videos I've seen on an ABSN program! xo

My grandparents helped with my apartment, and I saved up before the program to pay for tuition and took out loans for the rest. Alot of my classmates paied for their apartments with leftover loan money. Nursing is the one degree where getting a job is almost guaranteed so taking out loans is bit less scary because you k now you can pay them back

Do you feel the accelerated program prepared you well for a job in nursing? Is it the same as if you had been in a regular BSN program or an ADN program? I’m interested, but I get nervous because it’s such a short amount of time!
@nurseidalia1610
@nurseidalia1610 4 года назад
Alexis Castro great question! I don’t think nursing school in general completely prepares you for a nursing job. It more so tests your competency to be able to process and critically dissemble complex material. So if anything accelerated programs prepare you well because it forces you to multi task prioritize and learn to handle fast paced learning. I don’t think any discipline really prepares you for your first job whether it’s law school, social work, or teaching. Hands on experience is what will truly prepare you. Ie. your clinical rotations

This might be a stupid question but do the classes go faster than traditional nursing programs? For example, doing a BSN program is 4 semesters of strictly nursing courses and a typical ABSN program is 3-4ish semesters of nursing courses as well. So is the ABSN program more rigorous than a BSN program? I’m literally so scared to start my ABSN program and I’m trying to mentally prepare as much as possible
@nurseidalia1610
@nurseidalia1610 2 года назад
I would say the absn courses you’re learning the same information as a bsn program but in an accelerated pace. So it’s difficult because it’s a lot information to learn in shorter amount of time.

@@nurseidalia1610 how did you finally make the decision to go into nursing? I feel like I really want to but I’m nervous that once I get into it I won’t like it.

@@nurseidalia1610 Oh wow, thats not bad at all! I'm looking into ABSN programs in Boston, which is where I live, and the cost for most programs is 50K plus. Do you mind telling me which school you went to?

I notice the question about school never gets answered $25k for ABSN certified program? State college and community college are the best priced. If your program is not certified good luck getting a job. Most private programs are going to run $50k plus
