Oh, joy! Oh, rapture! Two of my favorites at once: wonderful Marion Lorne introducing the greatest female vocalist of all time - Jo Stafford! Both are a joy whenever they make an appearance in my life. I almost didn't believe my eyes when I saw the RU-vid suggestion.
It's wonderful to discover a new live performance from my favorite vocalist! Jo was displaying a very attractive and jazz-informed looseness in her work of this period, and her instantly recognizable tone remained glorious.
Disfruto de las distintas interpretaciones de esta gran canción en tan icónicos cantantes en haberle otorgado su toque personal. Simplemente genial en la extensión de la palabra.
They told us the whole background orchestra was going to be leaving our lives by the 1970s, I miss walking in a room to then have a fast violin pizzicato start up, brass stingers and everything. Haha, in all seriousness, you could get quite a tiresome booking for orchestras back then, I know I certainly did, however, today its as quiet as a mouse.
Likely Jo had to spend hours in front of a mirror with headphones on, to have mastered the art of MIMING to her own recording. No doubt she would have rather sang into a boom mike above her head, out of shot. But her 'masters' had to accentuate the record sales, right ? Guess the watchers didn't notice or didn't care ? Do you ?
