Woww! 😳 - mouth open; eyes wide; heart beating fast with total excitement! What wonderful teaching you bring! I am a quilter, but having watched you, I do believe that I can be both quilter and artist (and use up all my scraps too 😉). Thank you! Thank you! ❤. You have a new subscriber. 😍 x
My very first attempt was with your Golf Courses pattern for my brother-in-law who is an avid golfer. He displays it prominently in his Office! I love, love, love your designs and your methodology of teaching.
This is fabulous method of stylized art. You do beautiful work. I've been having fun with this concept for years with colored cardstock. Such an easy relaxing way for anyone to express themselves.
Beautiful creations with fabric and love how you created the post card with leftover scraps. This has been very informative and gives me some ideas for making something unique for my sisters 60th birthday in the summer. Thank You for sharing this tutorial.
This is marvelous for me as a complete novice and beginner who wants to create memories in material of the favourite places I have been and loved, especially Scotland the Hebrides where their beauty, colours and wildness have enslaved my soul. I just need to figure out how to put the traditional white painted cottages, the black houses, 'Tigh Duhb's' into the landscapes. Thank you so much for making it look so easy xx
I'm glad you feel inspired now to capture your memories of Scotland. You could add the little cottages as photographs transferred to fabric, or simply create little cottages out of fabric and appliqué them. Raw edge appliqué is the easiest for the small details on Accidental Landscapes. Have fun!
This is amazing I’m mesmerized Thank you for sharing You have definitely inspired me I have done nothing sense my husband passed away in 2018 But this is grabbing me I love your work God bless thank you for your inspiration.
Oh my gosh! It does seem to be “magic”! Just stumbled into this video😉. I’ve worked on a few larger landscapes, and spent HOURS, HOURS trying to get the perfect color, shape, etc. Didn’t think I would ever create another one. Will be looking for your book tomorrow😀. Stay well. M🍀
Thankyou Karen for sharing your knowledge on this creative simple flow of textiles. I am very excited to try quilting for the first time without strict boundies involved. I love textile art as there is no need for functionality its all aesthetic.
WOW! your accidental landscapes are beautiful without a lot of tid bits I think I can do this thank you for the tutorial you make it look so easy so I purchased the book.
I'm five minutes in and already at my second "remarkable". I hope to try this creative art of layering in the near future. Thanks for sharing your gift!
Oh Karen, your work is so so beautiful.Thank you for this video ... so many ideas!! I, too, have the book but haven't yet gotten to do a landscape! Now I have the inspiration!! Grazie mille!
So thankful I happened upon your video. Karen you have touched my imagination and made it look easy and a bit of fun at the same time. Have your book but never tried to make a landscape picture. Now I know that I can do it. Thanks for inspiring me.
Truly marvelous. I just purchased three of your books and I am so excited to make one of my own. Or, maybe lots ! Great method and excellent teaching, thank you.
Absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous and truly magical pieces of art. I learnt more in those 10 minutes than i did in a year of accidentally making fabric art and discovering that i could do it. 💖🙏
Thank you so much Karen, I really really enjoyed watching you take us through your awesome accidental landscape’s. I really really love ❤️ watching you and what you create is amazing and awesome too. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumb’s up too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Thanks so much!! I watched this video and promptly bought the book on amazon and have made the first landscape block!!! This is perfect for nature textures and using up the fabric pieces I have. I love how your directions and samples are straight forward, interesting and easy to follow!!

Hi Karen. I love this concept. Thanks so much for sharing. I was wondering if I want to add people to the forefront of the landscape should I add the people on to my background before I add the landscape or would it work better to do it vice versa? Thanks.
Thank you Annetta! Any details get added AFTER the landscape is layered and topstitched. That way you have a better idea of the scale. Lots more info on that in my book "Accidental Landscapes" (available on my website kareneckmeier.com or amazon.com) Have fun creating accidentally!
OMG, It is so nice to see you online! I took a workshop with you years ago with the Milford (Pa) Valley Quilt Guild. I did the fall landscape pattern and got two for the price of one with the leftovers! It was so much fun to play around with the fabrics and it still one of my favorite pieces! I framed mine and gave the other to a senior lady, who loved it! Try the mini quilts-you will love doing them! And I’ll bet you cannot stop with one!! So good to see you again!
