I was born and bred in Accy. So proud to live there for the first 38 years of my life, but whenever I return I always feel sad about how much its changed.
GTH Gaming, thanks for the comment, you can actually download this song from iTunes I think. Maelor who wrote and sings it was my old apprentice when we worked for Fiat. Something he is better at is singing and writing songs 😂
Il certainly have a look on iTunes. Where abouts in Accrington was he from I might know him lol. I’ve lived in Manchester coming upto three years now and haven’t had much chance to visit home and I miss it so much! Honestly it explains how I feel more than I could haha.
Maelor is a right nice lad, a talented singer/songwriter and I'm proud to be one of his friends. He is fiercely proud of his Northern heritage, his home town and Accy Stanley. 'Milltown Boy' is available on his 4 track CD; a full length CD is almost finished and will be available soon. Find him via Google, buy a CD and go see him live. Support live and local music.
My family just visited me in Beijing, had to say goodbye to them again today. First time they've made it out to see me in 4 years since I went travelling and this has proper hit me in the chest. love it.
@@mcrossley dont know id you still check this but3 years later still my go to to show people where I'm from. Still love it. Hope you're safe and well at this time lad.
I grew up in Accy. I was wrenched away when I was 13 to the other side of the world. While I’m grateful for the life I have now, I didn’t want to leave Accy at the time.. I go back for a visit from time to time ❤️
I left Accrington 50 years ago but occasionally visit. The thing that strikes me most about the view from the Coppice, apart from all the trees, is the loss (if you can call it that) of all the factory chimneys. I don't suppose you get the pea soup fogs from them in winter down by the Faccy Bottom like when I was a nipper. I still retain the accent, although Accy folk think its been diluted a bit, so I am often asked in London, where I now live, where I come from. I always reply "The USA"........."t'Uther Side of Accrington."
Accrington is nothing like it used to be - Accy born and bred but now living in Blackburn. I always feel sad going back into town and remembering how it was when I grew up there.
Chris Bruce im applying for a job there. I live in Bournemouth right now. And never been to the north. Can you tell me what it’s like. Is there much young people? Is there a night life ? Help 😂👀 xx
@@Lol78209 I have never been in to the night life, not to sure on what that is like their. What I have heard from a few of my friends that their is a couple of nice clubs/pubs around. It's been a couple of year's since I lived in Accrington due to having to move away for work. I still go up regular. Their are still some nice area's to live with some nice people to meet of all ages. Their are plenty of walks/cycle rides to go on around their to. I hope this helps.

@@7dtdfil730 lol too bad I adore my night life, missing it at the mo 😂 feels like forever ago I was thinking of applying in this area. Luckily I found happiness in the south after all. Hope you’re well 🥰
@@Lol78209 I moved down south 8 years ago... near Portsmouth, the nightlife down here is dead too. lol! I miss the 90s' though - music hasn't been the same (or I'm just an old fart). lol! Glad you found a reason to stay down south - what with what's happening up there these last 11 months. Stay safe!
Can someone help me? The first two buildings (after the title over the town hall photo), what/where are they? The large looking home, and the derelict/abandoned building? I can't figure them out! (BTW - I'm Ex-Accy Lad, living in the US now, still get back at least once a year!)
@@mcrossley but it's a lovely town, it doesn't bring me down, yes it can be a little boring at times, but I have been far more bored or feeling down in a city and no it's not London or Manchester either. 👍
