I'm a professional painter. LMB Painting. I have this product. Saves tons of time. Pretty good lines. Finish on the down stroke to eliminate wheel tracks. Adjust mini brush. Keep a rag handy to wipe excess paint off periodically. Yes some spots may have to be cut in by hand. Overall I like this product. It is sturdy and dependable. You can use one knap per color or job then toss. Machine is easy to clean, wheels are fine, if you take care of your tools. Again it's main 2 functions, time saver and pretty good lines, does both. I rate it a 7 putts 10. Whatever issues you may think it causes, the 2 main functions out way those knit picky issues. So if job has to be done perfect maybe not but, for jobs that are in and out and short deadlines and near perfection is good enough this works fine.

Geez...read the instructions already. I usually like what you post here, but you missed with this one. You only go in one direction and there will be no track marks from the wheels. Even I got that, without the benefits of the instructions.

Thanks for your input… 7out of 10 would be disrespecting our efforts trying to a 10/10 outfit. But very good for , like you say , in and out ( in our neck of the woods we call it “down and dirty”… I found this product sub par… but there are clients that do not need “fine finishing” check out my video on my channel … my brush is practically a sixth finger.

You guys made my day watching you try to review this edger. I'm a professional painter and I absolutely love this thing and it saves me time and makes me money. The only thing this is good for is interior window, door and floor trim. It works great on medium to low textured walls which is most common anyway. It is easy to clean just as long as you don't let it dry up which is common sense. My rollers and brushes in the pack has lasted almost a year but I've had to purchase the roller unit itself a second time and that's because the cheaply built little plastic wheels on the lower bottom. And the reason for the break is I was running them on a heavy textured wall, so don't do that! Also It doesn't work for ceilings unless the ceiling is completely flat texture which is pretty uncommon anyway. So Here's how To use it. First when you get it wash/scrub rollers in water this will help remove any fuzziness just as you would with any roller which painters typically use tape anyway. Second, once you lock in the roller and insert the brush, have the guard shield all the way open and roll it into the paint USING a regular size pan. Then Roll it up pretty heavy but not to heavy where the paint is sliding off the roller. Third part is a little tricky at first but stick with it and that is once you have it loaded, close the shield and make sure the little lever handle thingy is right next to were you place your thumb and press/hold both. What that lever controls is how close the cutter brush extends out and you want it extended out the furthest so it stays closest to the wall surface for great tight cut lines. O.k. Next is you want to roll a little away from the trim then bring it to the trim because it helps to control the paint better, if that makes sense. Then roll back and forth to cover your surface but once everything is covered roll it backwards, twords the little plastic cheaply made wheels, this will make the roller cover up any wheel marks and also you don't have to push hard for this to happen either. And that's that! The thing to remember is always wipe off any paint that gets on the outside of the paint guard that's because you want that clean that's what will be riding on your trim as you use it. Like with anything in life you just have to be patient and stick with it and it will get easier and that applies to using this contraption. It will save you time and money and for some make you money!

My husband has painted professionally and can cut in beautiful lines, but he works a lot, so for painting at home, as a mother of four whose cut in lines are not nearly as nice, I see the value of this product in saving time for the average homeowner with little painting skill.. which is I'm sure who it is targeted towards. I did see an add for it before several of your videos though.. Thanks for taking the time to do the review though and for all the other helpful tips I've learned from watching. :)

I've used this product for many rooms in my home. I agree with what was said. "I've seen worse lines". The issue, you can't paint the last 4-6 inches (however long the device is) of the ceiling . It needs to be able to paint left and right.

All the advert they do on your channel, i am suprised they didnt give you one. Have not finished video yet.. but in my experiance, these only work on low texture walls. With some adjustements and new set of skills this could work. Soo after you edge, pull up back slightly and roll again without wheels touching wall. Also, to much paint especially on edge or not periodically cleaning will start to put paint where not needed. It will start to bridge. I doubt you could do two walls without needing to clean it. Thank you for finally doimg this vid.

This is a great example of why it's important to follow the instructions that come with the tool -- every issue y'all had was user error. You could have at least watched their instructional video first if you didn't want to read it. I'd expect with a 30 minute video you would have at least learned how to use it to give the viewers an accurate review.
@jlnriddick

I couldn't agree more! This review was a waste of time because the product wasn't used correctly, and unfortunately only further convinces those who expect it not to work well to believe their assumptions were correct. Most of us don't need something that will last forever, and we're not concerned with what happens to this piece being thrown around "in your truck for a month". All we want is to complete our painting project with results we're happy with, without having to pay you guys thousands upon thousands of dollars. You said it yourself... you're not nearly as concerned about getting paint on "other things", as you are about getting the job done quickly. I paid $3000.00, 10 years ago, to have 3 (17 foot) rooms painted. I admit, It looks good, until you get up real close. This tool may not work for professional painters (for various reasons), but I'm happy to let it help me hold onto a bit more of my money.

I'm a remodeler and a while back bought one of these plus the VERY expensive Accubrush XT model (handle pivots for better handling or to add an extension pole) They actually do work pretty well for doing much quicker cut-ins on door and window casings, as well as base boards - IF they have enough lip to "ride" on. Will work on wall ceiling corners pretty well, but ONLY if the ceiling doesn't have much of any texture on it (but forget about using the floppy jointed handle that come with the XT - they don't even use it in the commercial videos!). A few points & observations (and a couple of things the you guys didn't figure out yet. LOL): > After you roll out the cut-in, finish with a BACK roll (roller will cover brush marks and the inside wheel tracks) > Then OPEN the SHIELD and use the tool as a normal roller (keeping wheels off of wall) to roll out the outside paint edge (and any wheel marks, which actually should not be there). > Yes, they are worthless in corners and around window sill lips. > And yes, the plastic is quite flimsily, especially at those parts you suspected (roller release latch broke, and the whole roller arm actually broke off with one drop from a 6' ladder. The handle release latch on the XT also broke off. Although, to Accubrush's credit, when I send them pictured of my fractured tool remnants, they actually sent me replacements!) So, do they save time with cut-in? Yep, they absolutely do! Do they last very long in any kind of professional setting? Probably not. Are they worth (as in cost-savings justify) the high cost of paying for all of their advertisement? Jury is still out, but because of the vulnerable plastic parts, I probably would not spend the kind of $$ they're asking for them. @ $19.95, maybe.

Henry Mason anyone can learn to spray. I believe spraying is good for certain parts of the job. I like spraying on exterior, garages, texture ceilings rough walls, ceilings, doors, trim and cabinets. It looks like shit to me on walls unless in commercial. Or new construction which is ok. Residential occupied homes, there is too much prep work with masking off. I never said new technology or new products cant help make a job go quicker. I have tried products like this in the past and only had to do more work, when the edger bleeds onto the fresh painted ceiling, or molding. The product itself appeared to be flimsy according to the video, and I don't think it would stand up to everyday use. As for common core its totally irrelevant.

Watching you guys review the accubrush was pure entertainment. Lol. I’ve been skeptical of the accubrush for a long time and I’m glad I’m not alone. But you’re right there are 5-10% of homeowners who would use this and feel super cool and James Bondish and would tell all their friends that professional painters will all be out of business in a couple years because of it. Ha ha ha My main concern from the very beginning without ever having actually used it was the fact that so many jobs where we paint you have to fix sloppy paint jobs from painters before like paint smudges on trim and paint smudges on ceilings and the accubrush just doesn’t really help in those scenarios. I don’t really see it saving time for a pro painter because pro painters are expected to fix all those paint errors from previous DIYers or even other sloppy “pro” painters. also the line the wheel makes would freak out most homeowners in my opinion...oh my god you’re scratching my wall! No thanks....ha ha.

Such a feisty review, I love it! Me and the man have to paint a room and the add came up as I was looking for color schemes. My boyfriend was like, I don’t want to really have to paint and if we do leave the ceiling. Then he saw the add and said ok we can pain the walls maybe the ceiling. But then I saw this video and got scared to show him because it was that same stupid add that changed his mind about paining our bedroom. I’m torn here. I don’t want him to say I’m not spending that kind of money on something that cheap that’s being hyped up moire than what it is. For that their are other edgers on the market. I’ll figure something out. I rather see the thing in stores to analyze it myself but he’s willing to wait on painting to order one but our new furniture will be here by then I’m sure. Gotta give this some thought. Far as the crappy lint filled roller, if just used duct tape. I think you guys should’ve use a darker paint though, it’s hard to tell how good the paint goes on with such a light color on top of a light color.

Here is a tip for edger tools. I have mastered the Shur-line edger. When I cut in a ceiling I take the edger, load it up with a paint brush and start cutting in. The brush technique allows you to avoid getting paint on the wheels on the front. You can also control the amount of paint on the edger so you don't have runs or voids. If the edger doesn't get close enough to the ceiling, apply more pressure and it tucks right up in the edge. At the corners, I just run a brush up to it, and it's only about a half inch away from the corner. Try it a few times and you'll get the hang of it. I never leave home without it. 👍

I'm sorry mate it sounds like a lot of effort and time wasted on loading the edger up to cut in . I would say to anyone who can't cut in to use low tac tape for your ceiling lines and you will get a nice crisp clean cut in line. Those things are a waste of time and money ive been painting for 28 years and im willing to try anything that will make the job easier , there's always something new learn ive tried one and there is no way I would recommend anyone to waste there money to buy one. I'm sorry it's a poor cheap tacky product that will never give you a professional finish.

I actually used a gimmicky cut in tool you can get at any big box store. It uses a rectangular pad to hold the paint and wheels that roll against the ceiling or trim. If you make sure to not get paint on the wheels and load the paint on the pad carefully it works decently. Also, they're like less than $5. Can't really use it on baseboard with a routered, thin edge as the wheel won't contact the baseboard well.

They make these little rectangular pads that have hairs, and they work a little bit -- I cannot remember the the brand name -- but they seem to show some potential, yet the "pad device" doesn't work very well. I don't think it is the pad, but the "device." It too has wheels, but they smear paint onto the ceiling. Also, corners are a problem for those pads. I DID SEE they invented some new shaped pads, not rectangular, and a holder that does not have wheels. They show it being used and it seems to work!!!! I have seen these advertised on RU-vid. I WISH YOU GUYS WOULD TRY THOSE PADS. I am a general contractor, and I would like very much for YOU GUYS to "review" those pads, let me know how they work. And I can tell you all of your audience is just as excited as I am to see how those pads work, because if I (we) can find any way to make cutting easier, I (we) would be very happy. TRY THOSE PADS!!!

Yeah, yanno, in fairness, re-watching their ad, they DON'T push the roller AT ALL. Every example of their usage of it suggests drawing the device AWAY from the paint laid, occasionally with a gentle push if gapping occurs. This (theoretically) obviates the wheel marks/ paint in the wheel concerns. It should also (again, theoretically) extend the life of the paint brushes too. Your "impartial test" here is the equivalent of saying "This utility knife is terrible. Pulling the blade towards me seems to work okay, but PUSHing the blade just jams the point into the surface!" Pertaining to build quality, your observations are no doubt accurate, and the nap on the roller is indeed accurate, I'm sure, though the control of the rest of the "test" throws the rest of you plainly-biased (since, in the end, this would be more of a threat than a boon to professional painters) review into question. Indeed, I've no doubt that a cheaply-made As Seen On TV doodad would NOT be apropos for a professional. I'm sure it WOULDN'T stand up to a month of daily usage. NOR. IS. IT. INTENDED. TO. Try using a residential sprayer every day for a month. But a Wagner works just fine for a small job. I wouldn't try to use a 5 Gal shop vac as a commercial dust collection system, either. This seems to me, in the end, a 30-minute (!!?!) example of video masturbation. You folk just REEEAAAALLLLY like hearing yourselves talk.
