Cuando fui a México, en especial al suroeste del país, efectivamente oí que todos le llamaban camión, entonces lo que yo hacía era hablar como ellos para que la comunicación fuera natural, claro que no iba a decirles, " atención, por favor, creo que unas palabras las estan utilizando incorrectamente" sino que tuve comprensión de que hay una variedad de palabras en todo el país

La palabra 'camión' se traduce como 'truck', no como 'bus'. Tienes el claro ejemplo de que 'camión de bomberos' se traduce como 'firetruck', no 'firebus'. Puedes encontrar esta información en cualquier parte de Internet, sin importar en qué país estés. 'Bus' se traduce como 'autobús' u 'ómnibus'; las demás palabras son jerga. The word 'truck' is translated as 'camión', not as 'ómnibus' o 'autobús'. We have the clear example of 'firetruck', which translates to 'camión de bomberos'. You can find this information anywhere on the Internet, no matter which country you are in. 'Bus' translates to 'autobús' or 'ómnibus'; the other words are slang.

Las traducciones varían dependiendo de la región. Rara vez hay traducciones universales a todos los paises. Por ejemplo, en República Dominicana, nunca llamaremos "camión" a un autobús. Pero si vas a México verás que es muy común. Reducir estas expresiones regionales a simples "jergas" es despectivo para esas comunidades y trata de invalidar injustamente su diversidad lingüística. Como traductores e intérpretes es importante respetar la manera en que las personas se expresan en vez de prescribir reglas de cómo estas comunidades deberían hablar. Incluso si las demás palabras son "slang" pueden ser traducciones perfectamente válidas dependiendo del contexto en que se use. A lo mejor no verás "camión" en un documento gubernamental pero sí en literatura o mensajes publicitarios. Este es el punto que el video trata de comunicar: hay una diversidad lingüística que se debe tomar en cuenta no solo para comunicar el mensaje de una manera culturalmente adecuada sino también para entender a los demás.
