You didn't mention the price Lewis, because I think for £180, that's just million times more appealing than a Hornby for £180... It amazes me they don't just go lower than Hornby and just take a grip completely as it's ripe for taking. Well done accurascale 🎉
I'd have definitely bought one if I hadn't already purchased a Dapol version a few months ago. The blanking plate for the front coupling is an excellent innovation. Thanks for sharing your views
Erlestoke Manor is a Severn Valley Railway resident in real life. I have one of her Severn Valley Railway sisters: Dapol Hinton Manor. The other Manor I have is Bachmann Foxcote Manor, due to be replaced by her new Dapol counterpart. I hope you'll keep Erlestoke Manor in pristine condition, as she's one of the 9 lucky Manors to be preserved. She was almost immaculately clean in the 1960s. I do hope to see her running on the bigger railway. Show me a GWR Manor hard at work, and I'll show you how much I truly love her. Thankyou for putting a cheerful grin on my face.
Wow accurascale have completely nailed this locomotive…their quality is second to none at a brilliant price…i model the midland region but so tempted to get one of these now 👍🏻another brilliant video also pal
Hi. I just need to say I absolutely love your model, it has to be the best I have seen, in my humble opinion! I’ve thought about starting my own model, but in N gauge, but I just can’t seem to decide on so many things. Silly I know. Your model has inspired me but also intimidated me as it’s so good! Keep up the excellent work 👍
What an incredible model! Definitely have got to pick one up! On a slightly unrelated note, I really enjoyed the tracking shot of the train, at the beginning. Really shows that Misselthwaite is a lot longer than I thought. Excellent video as always!
Great to see a Manor grace your layout, very impressive. Accurascale keep producing wonderful & sensibility priced models, fantastic for modellers that have been having to put up with some pretty uninspiring overpriced products recently from other manufacturers. I model the modern era & have been so impressed with the class 92 & 37s - I couldn’t resist one of these Manors although it doesn’t fit my layout. Mine hasn’t arrived yet, but having just watched I can’t wait! Thanks for sharing Cheers John B 😎
Bonjour Lewis, Thanks for sharing this honest locomotive review. Accurascale scores high marks. It's a lovely 'machine' and I have this Manor on my wish list. She sure looks the part on your fine layout but I'm looking forward to see here pulling a nice train on your larger Yorkshire Dales RW. All the best and happy model railroading. Cheers, Filip
I like big American steam, but you folks sure have the better liveries. Like the Model T Ford we could get absolutely any color, as long as it was black. Runs very smooth! My only quibble is that the coal load looks like plastic from some angles. Easy enough to fix, though. Good to see another entry from the Yorkshire Dales, Lewis. Been awhile.
Thanks Steven. Yes I agree I’d definitely ditch the coal load. Speaking of American steam, I saw Rapido tease a OO gauge USATC S160 - I’m absolutely having one of those!
Hi Lewis what a great looking loco from Accurascale you sound well pleased, I also bought a new loco last week HORNBY'S p2 2-10-2 2003 lord president what a fantastic model. Great video Lewis thank you.
Accurascale did it again ! At first glance, the only drawback I can see, compared to the Dapol model I already have, is the tender to engine coupling. Not as innovative as the plug-in one by Dapol, but a classical drawbar plus wires well conceived. I might put one on my roster, maybe a period 4 black one...
That’s a good point Olivier. I did see some people had issues with the Dapol versions haulage power, whereas this one seems to be a beast. I do like the DCC plate being in the smokebox on the Dapol one though.
Hi Lewis, as always you never fail to produce a top class enjoyable video. What a great locomotive from Accurascale, beautifully detailed and an excellent runner. This should keep other manufactures on their toes. Thanks for posting. Cheers Greg PS: nice dog
A stunning model on an equally stunning layout. I have one on order for my SR branch line! A very minor point, but to my eyes the stark white of the head and tail lamps isn't how I recall them from my spotting days. I paint mine light grey with a smudge of grime, then they blend in far better.
Very nice 👍 looks like Accurascale has produced another great locomotive and more importantly at a great price. They really are putting the big manufacturers to shame. I’m really looking forward to getting my 66’s and can’t wait to see what they make next. 😁😁😁
I knew them well. The 30” crank throw was very striking as was the small tender which meant it was easy to watch the crew at work from a train window. The model looks outstanding. I hope Accurascale produce a BR3MT 2-6-0 as nobody else does!
If they do so, they get me as a customer. The few Accurascale products I alreay have (Siphon G) are astonishing. I'm impatient to get my class 37 in BR green from them.
@@OlivierGabinThey are taking RTR models to a new level. I tried to persuade Hornby to make BR 77XXX 3MTs but no luck. They went on to make the BR Standard 2MT instead.
I've got Torquay and Bradley and they are incredibly well detailed. Excellent definition and the livery looks fantastic. The Dapol version has in my opinion a much better motor however. A great model as long as you're not into fast running.
@@MouldyRaspberry She's normally based there along with Bradley Manor and Hinton Manor. Hinton's owned by the SVR itself while the other two are owned by the Erlestoke Manor Fund who base themselves at the SVR. At the moment, Erlestoke's on loan at the West Somerset Railway, I think until the autumn, having returned to traffic after overhaul at the SVR's Spring Gala earlier this year.
Wow... That is impressive and I never go out of Hornby. The box looks much more professional aswell, small thing but all that detail you can tell thats for enthusiasts. More evidence that Hornby are better off sticking to the entry level market, if i were made of money i would definitely not buy Hornby now this lot are coming up with quality like this. The firebox is such an easy thing to add, and lights on diesels no idea why any model manufacturer wouldnt just have these features nowadays as standard, it makes a huge difference. Great review aswell. Ps. When you getting the airbrush out? 😂
I ordered the GWR version, have to wait though until October to see it, but what I'm really curious about is the compare with the Dapol Manor, which was already a super class model. Great video enjoyed it very much. Speaking new releases, and I say this for all manufacturers in general, and I don't know how you modelers all feel about this? In the UK alone, there were so many types locomotives produced in its history, why must we always get the same types form different manufacturers and argue about a rivet. I general the quality level for all manufacturers is good to super good. But I really wish manufacturers would get a bit more creative, and start manufacturing locos that never were made as a model before. From era one to now, endless choices, but no, we all produce the same models, WHY??? The way I see it, producing differences will have two advantages, the modeler has a wider choice and manufacturers wouldn't suffocate each other. Luckily we now start to have a decent narrow gauge (009), and see what a success. Why not start a broad gauge series?
I completely agree, especially when manufacturers produce the same class at the same time (such as with the Manor). There are endless prototypes that I’m sure would be really popular.
@@MouldyRaspberry Yes that's right although I have heard some bad things from some people who have bought the manors and the quality control isn't good on some.
The loco lookss smart, but firebox glow??? as a fire man on on steam locos, thee only time air was let into the firebox, was to reduce black smoke after coaling round, or to reduce excessise boiler pressure (cold air to reduce this)
Hmm firebox glow seems to be the norm now, the last couple of steam locos I've bought have that fitted. I guess you could make and fit a firebox door out of plasticard and fit it if you were so inclined, that would be a nice touch.
The cheap low quality 3 pole motor was a huge disappointment. The only aspect of the whole model I disliked. Bit of a let down at the final hurdle. Shame.
