*IMPORTANT INSTALLATION UPDATE!*
Your Accurizing Kit comes with 3 spacers, but not all spacers are used, depending on your specific pistol.
The spacers are: (2) stainless spacers, of different thicknesses. You may optionally use one of these spacers in step 6 on the hammer bushing. Ruger frame dimensions vary, so we provide two choices for you to select the best fit for your specific frame.
(1) black spacer. This spacer is for 22/45-style frames only and is used in assembly step 1 between the sear and spring.
In this video we look at the installation process of our Volquartsen Accurizing Kit for the Ruger® MK IV™.
The complete drop-in kit comes complete with our CNC Machined Disconnector, Target Hammer, Hammer Bushing, Target Sear, Target Trigger with plunger and spring. It also comes with pretravel and overtravel adjustments.
The Accurizing Kit for the Ruger MK IV will provide a crisp, clean 2.25lb trigger pull. This kit will eliminate the magazine disconnect.

Just got this put in. My first time taking apart a MK4. Looks complex at first, but with patience and some good needle nose pliers the trigger is now amazing. My teenager was a helpful second pair of hands.

I watched the videos, and the instructions were excellent... Enough, so I gave it a try. I have had a couple strokes and such that mess with my memory, coordination, and confusion. It took about 4 hours Friday evening and about 4 Saturday morning. Chased after small parts 100s of times. Friday night, I was ready to pack it in and send it to you all to fix, but Saturday morning, I got up and watched the video again. I redid the sere spring and sere install one more time because I had messed up the spring, but in the end, I did complete it, and there were no leftover parts or missing parts either. I love the trigger. It is a fantastic upgrade. Please do not take this as a criticism. This was the first time I had tried something like this. The video gave me the confidence to attempt, and Jesus kept me calm. I had to pray a lot for patience, which always works. Thank you for making a kit that an addled old man can assemble. Prayer and this video provided me with success. It was satisfying stepping out to my firing range and making the steel ring. Thank you!

Just installed this. Couple notes. I had a tough time depressing the bolt catch spring in order to push the trigger pin out. I had to get a small enough but not too small Allen key and push down right on top of the spring, not the catch, in order to get it. Also, the sear spring long end does not need to be visible when installed. They skipped the part where the tail goes. It does not go in the mag well. It goes in a small gap in the grip which is a little tricky getting it seated in there. Plain tweezers helped me get the sear spring, spacer, and sear in. When you install the hammer the dangly part goes in the little divot behind the sear. The sear must be pointed up and pressed against the short tail of the sear spring when you slide the safety and pin into place. You can get the hammer in with the sear down which is what I did first and it did not function properly. Those were my only issues and it still took me about 90 minutes to install. Extreme improvement from stock.
@AINUARKR
@AINUARKR Год назад
I too pressed the bolt catch spring for a long time until I realized the spring you're supposed to depress to get that pin out is on the opposite side of the gun, and it looks like a pin, no spiral.

I made all of the same exact mistakes. You are a live-saver though. Couldn't figure out why my safety and whole entire mechanism wasn't functioning, the dangly part isn't in the little divot for mine, my mistake. Saved me from taking this all back apart completely and starting over. Thank you!

Had Volquartsen install this kit on my MK IV this past week. Great turnaround time and professionally done. The difference is phenomenal no comparison to the Ruger trigger. Smooth and light same as the trigger on my S&W mod 41. This is a must have for the Ruger MKIV.

This is just what we all wanted to hear! I was a little surprised (in the video) that they will do it, but I watched the rest of the video anyway. Nice clear presentation. I can do this kind of work, but will I just buy the parts and then "get around to it"? SOMEDAY? I looked at their website and it seems simple and economical, I think this is good news! Days Later: I have a SW Model 41 actually, and took both out on the same day... by comparison the Ruger trigger felt like there was something wrong with it, I kept thinking the safety was on! YES, somehow I got spoiled by just watching a video and reading a few comments.... It turns out that the Volquartsen web site describes everything in detail, is very clear and organized, and allows you to sign up for installation too. I think they want US to do it ourselves and make it easy.... But it's too easy to imagine buying the stuff, and then taking a year or so to even get around to it... and now the little kit is LOST....

Just installed this, disconnect or, and a new firing pin and extractor on my Mark III 22/45 lite. Dealing with all those little parts wasn’t easy. I had trouble aligning the sear and it’s pin and getting the safety on the pin and keeping it in place while i put the hammer on. I ended up using brass punches as alignment tools which made it easier for me. But wow what a difference significant reduced pre travel crisp light break and no excess over travel. And the trigger reset is very short. It was a good gun before but now it’s awesome!

If you enjoy depot level firearms maintenance, and are comfortable with "some assembly required", then this upgrade is doable at home. It really does help to have locking forceps or spring loaded tweezers so that one can grip the tiny spacers as needed, and maneuver the sear. I have a Mark4, 22/45, and have dissembled the same amount for through cleaning. This kit has made an awesome improvement to my pistol. I do agree that there needs to be a better explanation of the correct spacer to use for the hammer. It was helpful, when I first acquired the Mk4, to watch several of the comprehensive disassemble and reassembly videos; and practice before this upgrade.

DO NOT USE THE PROVIDED ALLEN WRENCHES, I almost rounded my right safety screw because of their bad soft allen wrenches... Use a good quality one, and make sure you heat up this screw if you feel any resistance ! Other than that I'm VERY happy with this kit, the original Ruger Mark IV trigger is very bad imo. This + tandemkross trigger feels great ! In France we pay 950€ for this gun brand new, oof

I rounded mine. Now what? Edit - was able to get the allen screw out with the help of a soldering iron and a different allen wrench. Apply the iron directly to the screw (but not too much, or you'll melt the safety lever), and it should come out.

At around ~10:30 if you can't get the hammer to go back, the floppy bit on the bottom of the hammer needs to go into that divet/hole thing to provide tension. If it's not in that divet/hole, it will not move or the safety will not move correctly. They missed a step in the callout, the floppy hammer secondary bit needs to go in that divet and should've been called out in simpler language and maybe a CG shot. If you can't get the hammer to cock back, this should solve the issue.
@EnricoSWE

I did put that free floating thing into the little silver hole. I still cannot make the hammer stay down, so it wont go into safety, the hammer will always pop straight upp immediately, ...

It seems that I ACTUALLY lost those smallest parts... The Safety Detent Spring (27 in the instruction manual) and the Safety Detent Plunger (28), those who has to go into the Safety (26)... It is not inside the Safety and I can't find them anywhere on the floor etc... Does that explain my hammer malfunction, I really lost those two small part, classic comedy

The hammer bushing spacers - you tell us there are 2 but not which to use for each model. Also, you should note in the video that you don't use the spacer between the sear spring and sear. Because the sear spring spacer will fit, but it's VERY difficult. Then the gun does not work and you have to take it back apart.
@badcrcz

He says he's using a 22/45 and the video shows the thinner washer goes on, which means the thicker washer is for the regular MKIV. Yes, that should be more clear. I used needle nose pliers to grip the sear in the center groove without blocking the hole, then pushed it into place, first over the spacer washer so it wouldn't drop out, then i wiggled the pin back out a little at a time until the sear went over the pin. Wasn't easy and it took me a few attempts.

@volquartsencustom you need to watch a sigguy video on installing parts, he gives important tips through the video, you need to tell people to make sure the sear spring doesnt just face down, that it actually goes back behind the mag cavity, magwell. i put it all together and almost bent the spring as it was in the magwell. also explain to use the black spacer during the sear install and explain the actual size difference to use for a 22/45 and a mk iv spacer. here are the sizes below as you are your to lazy to do a proper video and include these very important tips. MKIV: 0.0475" (1.20mm) 22/45: 0.070" (1.79mm) black space for sear.

Piece of cake. Way better than trying to put the gun back together with the ruger factory parts! That's not a fun job. I was able to install this kit in under 10 minutes. Because of the 2 times I took the gun completely apart.

Followed the video exactly and installed in my mkiv 22/45 and it will no longer cock, so the safety won't engage, so I can no longer disassemble it.

Is it ok to fry fire with this trigger?
@volquartsencustom
@volquartsencustom 5 месяцев назад
The concern around dry fire is primarily the firing pin peening from striking the chamber - this kit would be all internal trigger components. Ruger mentions it's ok to dry fire their pistols, but we'd still recommend a snap cap if it's more than occasional.

That's due to the difficulty of being able to capture the process on camera while being able to see what's going on with the internal components at the same time.

You can't find a real gunsmith anymore. The so called gunsmith at the local shops will F IT UP worse then u doing it. Just take ur time and have several laptops and I pads going and u will get it. Yes it is challenging but u will have a nice sense of accomplishment when it all clicks together. Then u will start to tackle other projects on other type guns. Fun stuff.

@badcrcz 3 года назад
If you're used to taking guns apart more than for simple cleaning this isn't that bad. I just bought a mkiv 22/45 and I've had it 2 hours and installed this kit following the video. Granted the MKIV is a pain to re-assemble at a couple points, like the safety and sear pin but it's not that difficult. They left out quite a few little details in the video that I managed to figure out but I can see that being confusing for some. Like where exactly the sear spring goes, which spacer for which model, and where the hammer rod sits.

Do NOT base your installation completely on the illustrations of this video. You might be turned around by the depiction of a rivet head or the use of a spacer. One should also refer to the Volquartsen still photos and captions to figure out the sear and hammer installation.

Is the sear suppose to be forward while installing hammer? This video is not a novice video.😡
@youngyeller
@youngyeller 2 года назад
probably too late to respond, yes the sear needs to be foreward .the safety has a notch to hold it while you put the hammer in and install the safety pin through.
