Haven’t commented in a while. First, I think you look fantastic. I’m ten months in on my c4-c7 surgery and doing well. Yes the weather seems to affect me at times as well.nothing serious. All of my numbness, and paralysis is gone. My passion is playing guitar, and my left hand suffered, but is totally better now. Thank you for sharing your experience and for taking the time for other people out here that have similar issues. My surgery was necessary, and I’m so glad I had it done. Your drive to reach goals and not let this knock you down is an inspiration. I understand the dark days that come with this.I have to say a little weight isn’t hurting you whatsoever. I’m not a computer savvy person, and seldom comment, but your experience hit close to home. Look up the Brian Johnson Band and you’ll see what results of my surgery. Good luck on the pilots license. Take care.

Hi Kim, Thank you so much for sharing your story. I have had two neck surgeries within the past year. My first surgery consisted of replacement disks from C5-T1. Ten months later, I had C3-C5 disks fused. I've been through quite the roller coaster ride also, dealing with the excruciating pain and thinking at times, that I was surely going crazy. It's like nothing you can explain to others, unless they've experienced the same. I would love to chat with you, if you when you have some time. I certainly wish you the very best! Sincerely, Linda Jo

I am the six month mark for the same surgery. I was diagnosed really late in the game so I was on deaths door before my surgery. I don’t have pain as much as I have dizziness and a general unwell feeling. I’m tired all the time and I had some cognitive dysfunction from the general anesthesia. I’m a school bus driver by trade but I haven’t returned because I don’t feel well enough to drive a bus with other children aboard. I realized I would have a new normal, and given the Covid life I was already in that zone. BUT it is still frustrating for me and I get hit with depression.

Hello Kim.. Only came across your channel today due to searching on RU-vid regarding the same precedure I'm about to undergo in the next 2 weeks here in the UK.. I suffer with with pain in both arms tingling and numbness in both hands plus early on paralysis intermittently in both legs due to severe compression on the spinal cord at c6-t1.. It has been hard going and worrying especially in the early days when I didn't know what the heck was going on as I wasn't experiencing neck pain at all, just the numbness tingling and mobility issues. After seeing my local gp and having various ct scans and electroconductive tests. Then finally diagnosed what the issues where I'm glad to know it can be fixed and possibly 100% but I'm also realistic that it may not cure all my symptoms. Which as you have spoke about in previous videos makes you withdraw into yourself, become irretable ( mostly through frustrations of daily life living with this all).. I'm glad to see your progressing well and are very positive ( it's hard to remain so before and after a serious operation). I'm now coming to terms with the fact I may not be the same outgoing active person I was 12 months ago after my operation, but I'm determined to stay positive and make future plans hopefully without fears or doubt if I'm doing the right thing in the way of outdoor physical activates like I used to before the issues with my neck and spine occurred. I guess we all have to adjust and remain positive and not let this change the person we wheir.. . Goodluck with the flying lessons, Thankyou for sharing your journey and I'm glad I found your videos they have helped a lot pre op and future post op for me. P. S you look and always looked fantastic.. So less of the " I'm still single" get out there, have fun and enjoy yourself as its been a torrid time. Look forward and remain positive.. 😁

Hello Kim sorry for the late reply.. Work and time difference.. But sadly I was due to have my C5/6 +-C6/7 ACDF and T1 augmentation surgery on Wednesday last week. On the last minute it was cancelled due to a high influx of emergency inpatients that my surgeon had to deal with and is still doing so. Last Monday I had my last lot of xrays and ct scans done for my surgeon to assess, and after a lengthy chat regarding my symptoms and current situation he was it is quite severe and he his desperate and eager for me to have the surgery as its quite a mess from c4-t1. It looks like over the years after an old accident 10 years ago that was not addressed properly at the time my vertabraies had developed bone over growth front and rear of the vertabraie and over the years the disks have collapsed and slowly bulged out trapping several bilateral nerve roots and bulged outwards onto my spinal coloum and cord. Also a normal bone growth has encroached into the spinal column causing the cord to be severly squashed and pinched at 3 locations.. No wonder I'm having mobility issues 😂 waddling around like a Drunken man, and that's on a good day.. Very self conscious of it when out in public even at work.. Recently it has got worse in both arms and hands ie the numbness and tingling, painful shoulders and neck pain as my medication is not working as well as it was a month ago. No other medication availble so have to live it until a new date for my operation is given this week 🤞😁 Because there is quite a lot work to be carried out by my surgeon he warned me that he will be operating through the front and back of my neck mostly to get better access to my spinal cord to relive the preasure caused by my vertabraie bones growing abnormally into the canal.. It was quite shocking actually last week to see for the first time my mri scans etc and have my surgeon point out everything and how much work would be involved 6hrs appropriately the operation will take.. I didn't realise it was that bad.. But he assures me it's all fixable and I should be 90 % back to normal after a period of several months recovery and building up my strength again and getting more active etc 😁 It is Definatley a very frustrating thing to go through and sometimes embarrassing with my clumsyness caused by my brain signal cord disfunction, even feeding myself with a knife and fork is a chore as I can not feel anything properly, very clumsy and comical sometimes 😂😁 I am keeping as positive and cheery as much as I can, but do have down days.. But knowing my operation is soon 🤞 I'm looking forward to it now and hoping for a good 2022 back to full fitness and doing what I enjoyed in life before all this started. 😁😁 I hope you are doing well and feeling great with no issues and fully recovered and Enjoying yourself x 😁 I will let you know how I got on post op... Its just a shame it'll be so near Xmas and miss out on all the party's and socialising due to recovering 😪 Takecare Kim hope you have a good Xmas planned 😃

Great video. I’m 54 years old and I have been dealing with neck pain for years now. I had disk replacement 6-7 back in 2014 and it relieved all my pain, then had to have another disk replacement in 2018 5-6 and that lasted about a year so I dealt with the pain up until 6/2021 and had a fusion 3-5 which failed completely so I had another surgery this year 6/1/21 and had the disk replacements removed and the plate 3-5. From what I saw on the X-rays the fusion plate shifted down and was resting on the disk replacement below which created bone spurs. I’m a little over 3 months in on this surgery and I’m doing great. I have a little stiffness no pain. Sorry to go on so long. But I feel your pain.Best of Luck. Michael

@@KimWright I have also suffered from this evil pain for good 2 months. Thankfully I am getting better now. I understand why you would have opted for surgery. May you get well soon. However, I would still urge everyone to please don’t mess with your cervical spine by getting surgery done. Pain will go away itself within 2-3 months. I had a sever pain in neck which radiated in my shoulder and left arm. Later also developed weakness in arm which was really disappointing. I had protrusion at C4-C5 and disc bulge at C5-C6 and I was on gabapentin 300mg (td) and believe me it won’t won’t work on pain. It’s been now hardly a week now that I am feeling better as the intensity of the pain is gone but it’s still there. My advice is to simply beer the pain no matter what cuz I know it’s tough and one simply wants it to just go away and it will go away by itself, trust me on that. Just find yourself a good PT and make lifestyle changes. Add healthy food in your diet and also start having turmeric milk with one spoon coconut oil at night. Stay strong and have faith. Let the body heal itself. FYI, in over 90% of the cases, discs heal itself. All the best
