Here's another fun trivia: Trucy Wright's English voice actress, Kira Buckland, had previously voiced her in a fan game, Conflict of Interest, before voicing the character officially in Spirit of Justice.
Who would have thought a series where most voicelines consist of "Objection!" would have such an interesting and varied list of different actors throughout the years, great video!
i used to be a massive fan of ace attorney when i was younger, but eventually moved on to other media. i recently became obsessed with critical role, and i was so pleased to see that sam voiced phoenix! what a lovely crossover of some of my favorite media :)
Really excellent and comprehensive video! Though, regarding Takayuki Kondo, he's actually the longest Phoenix voice as he's been voicing the character through various promotional and supplementary material material since at least 2003 (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w0S868viN5U.htmlsi=7XZhXn-8Xv0D100Y) The rest of the trilogy cast in the japanese 3DS games have likewise also been voicing them for that long and they've been the default voices until Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright and the anime came around. So yeah, it was a case of replacing voice actors for star power. (Yuki Kaji and Aoi Yuki of the anime are also more popular voice actors so that applies to them too, not that they didn't do a great job with their own takes on the characters of course!) If you want to hear more of how the original Japanese cast portrayed these characters, here are links for the Drama CDs (ru-vid.com/group/PLSiy_KSQi04hvUsM9ysGlQnSa0Qp3_9O7&si=RwXBC8qhfh3llVZx) and Court skits (ru-vid.com/group/PLyWeLTWyxqLdNO2gzokMLr03XIW-mMIrY&si=QDIzo5VqRne8LE1u) they've done over the years.

The most interesting inconsistency in this story is the Apollo Justice trilogy, specifically in the AJ:AA. In the original and mobile releases, Phoenix still uses the recycled clips from Ben Judd in the original trilogy. However, in the new rerelease, those clips were replaced with Sam Reigel's voice clips. Sometime after the 2019 trilogy released, Ben Judd was outed for doing some... stuff. Capcom probably didn't want to take any chances there, even at the cost of the preservation of the source material.
Interesting, I haven't played the Apollo Justice Trilogy yet. It certainly could be a case of distancing from controversy (I did read about it while researching Ben Judd's role for the video), but I wonder if it could have also been to maintain consistency across the three games in the collection. Any idea if the Japanese voices are different? Regardless, while it's obviously a pretty small thing, I did always prefer Ben Judd's voice clips to Sam Riegel's, so it'd be a shame if they all disappeared in the future.
