+Videokirbyo It's only in the english versions where there are cringe-worthy pop culture references. In the original versions, they use a lot of puns because that's more prominent in japanese culture, but when they localized it, the translation team thought that pop culture stuff was more a part of american culture. So yes, it was the english patch team who put that reference in.

Zoviak Jack While he probably is, you (and most people) aren't. Paedophiles go after prepubescent girls. Ephebophiles are into underaged teenagers, like Kay currently is. Also, Kay is almost 18, meaning she'd be legal, in just a few months, so calling him an ephebophile doesn't really merit much if he doesn't act on it until she's legal. I should say that I myself don't ship Kay/Edgeworth (I see Edgeworth as a non-sexual and non-romantic being akin to Holmes). Franziska's seen Edgeworth as her brother since she was two years old. Why does nobody seem to get this? They might not be related by blood but they were raised as siblings and view each other as such. Am I the only person who sees Kay and Edgeworth as more or less brother and sister, or even having a father/daughter relationship? He always says such Dad-ish things to her. "Kay, you better not be doing this thing. "Kay, don't do this illegal thing." "Kay, stop thinking what I know you're thinking", and the way he was concerned about her running off and being mad with her sounded more like a father scolding his daughter for running off in the market and scaring him half to death because he was worried about her safety than a man worried about his girlfriend.

Zoviak Jack I see Apollo as acting as everyone's older brother, including Athena, regardless of their age (except Klavier, who is definitely the older brother there, and a few characters significantly older than he is, like Phoenix and the Judge). He comes off as extremely responsible and like he's always looking out for others, which may or may not be a product of growing up in an orphanage with lots of other kids. He teases Athena like an older brother would, because he can; she's his subordinate, unlike Trucy, and he doesn't feel bad about teasing her cuz she can take it. I actually personally find it hard to ship people in Ace Attorney who've met for the most part, because everyone seems like such a big, bizarre family. Klavier and Ema have some clear romantic chemistry, but that's about it, apart from Phoenix and Iris. All of my other Ace Attorney ships are characters who have never met, but would go well together. Clay and Juniper, for instance. On the topic of Franziska, I like her best with Apollo, as I think he'd have a hard time being her big brother figure, but she'd never be the big sister figure because he'd stand up to her, just like he stood up to Blackquill. I think she'd be interested in him as a side-effect of being unable to work out, but obsessed with working out, his ability to perceive, which cannot be researched, according to Zak Gramarye. They also have a bit of the opposites attract thing going for them, though they both have a number of similarities, too, particularly the fact that they're the only characters in the entire series, except maybe Justine, who can ever believe in the idea that "when searching for the truth, it's best not to take sides", which is exactly what Apollo does in Dual Destinies, and a direct quote from Franziska, even though both of them have a hard time accepting that their friend could be a murderer. Another rather important similarity is that both of them had very similar mentors (Manfred and Kristoph) that gave them a unique style in court, and Phoenix was rather misguided as a mentor at first, too, due to his bitterness towards the legal system. But I'm digressing hard, there. I should note that I don't criticise other ships because I have my own ship, just that, well, Kay is more like his daughter than his girlfriend, and Franziska's his sister, good as if she were blood related. But that's just my take on the whole thing, ignoring my digression. Just one big, happy, albeit weird, family.

Zoviak Jack I do, actually, have relationships that could turn romantic, but romance isn't the only kind of love that exists in the world. People can love their friends and family. People can love romantically in this universe, of course, just as Ron and Desiree love each other, or Juniper's unrequited crush on Apollo, or Wocky's love for Alita, or how happy Wocky's parents are together... there's the fact that Thalassa had three men who loved her, two of which she'd married, and the fact that Iris obviously still has feelings for Phoenix, who may or may not return them. Not all feelings of attraction are reciprocated, something shippers don't understand; many of them assume Apollo will get with Juniper because of her blatant crush on him, forgetting that crushes need to be reciprocated to go anywhere. Just because I think most characters feel family-like bonds doesn't mean I think the series is devoid of romantic love. It's got a lot of it, it's just not showcased like people think it should be. I'm more interested in the other types of love that people often don't care about, the bonds between family and friends. People care so much about romance that these are often passed over, especially the love between friends, which shippers just can't accept actually exists, because all they care about is romance. I don't like it when people have to pair everyone with someone, just to satiate their need for romance. I feel like it misses the point and like they're just looking for other fandoms to join just to have more ships. I *do* have ships I like for this universe, ironically despite my complaints about shippers, more for this universe than any other. I simply believe that most of the characters see the others they talk to often as like family. Not all of them, but most of them. Most of the ships I like are between characters who have never officially met and after careful consideration about how they'd react with and to each other. Characters who I don't feel would be like family or just a friend if they met. I also have a lot of those characters where I don't think they'd think anything of each other, or even that they'd not get along at all. While this is a Crime and Justice series of games, that doesn't mean it's devoid of romance. I just don't see as much of it where everyone else does. That said, I do think Ema actually has feelings for Klavier but is in total denial about it and the fact that Klavier has feelings for her, I do think Phoenix still harbours feelings for Iris, and I do think that, sometime in the future, there might be something for Kay and Sebastian, who I like on the way they mesh as characters (and was one that took me a while to come to the idea of). Just because I don't think every relationship should become romantic or is romantic, doesn't mean I don't think romance exists. I just don't think it's the dominant kind of relationship everyone has.

I have a feeling I want this game. We have attorney and prosecutor, why not detective game? WITH SCIENCE!
