@@jfv2312 That's probably because the X-02 and Falken were both made sometime around AC0 (1990's). While electrosphere's aircraft are from 2040, etc. And thanks to Neucom for making "radical" designs such as the Delphinus my favorite aircraft
@@typhoon_abm5691 yeah thats true, but I mean, I also like more radical stuff like I said, the new X-02S and ADF-11F. The Delphinus might be one of the few exceptions I have with AC3 though, it's a beauty
@@darthrevan704 it kinda depends. If you're counting individual planes then like 50. But if you're counting airframes maybe closer to 7. The thing was you built up experience with an airframe, let's say the F16, then you unlock its variants, f16xd, f16block 60, f2 Or it could be more linear like f18, then f18 super hornet, then f18 jammer. It felt more like you were upgrading and evolving each plane than just a list
It’s been such a long time since I played an Ace Combat game. 5 was my first and I played that for hours as a kid. Glad to see the series is still around and doing well
For people worried about the limited list of aircraft, I'm fairly confident in saying they're going to be DLC. After all there's far fewer planes, a DLC season pass, its part of Namco's standard mentality, and its a long awaited game which has been properly made and will sell about as much DLC as they ask for. They're coming, just not yet.
I think you didn't really get why some are worried, it's becoming a standard to be an almost finished game. Also there is a larger selection of planes on the handheld titles and the gameplay is smoother... It was fun taking out the air fortress though.
All the comments I'd seen at the time of writing that (and other videos too) assumed that is the total limit of aircraft in the game. I absolutely dislike the idea of selling half a game and releasing the rest for paid DLC, especially when the content is often finished before release, and even more of an issue with a title of this price. Thats an entirely different discussion though as far as I'm concerned. And until enough people reject a title for that practice entirely it isn't going to get better.
Compared to todays fighters, the F-117 is almost useless. Its subsonic, has no gun, cannot dogfight and has a limited payload irl (4x Sidewinders or 2x GAU-88 bombs.) Its only defining feature is its stealth. Rudimentary, but still practical, albeit
@@TylerF35A true, but that never stopped the series from including it! xD I still remember the good old days of Air Combat on PS1, where it was absolutely the worst plane, but I still played it just because it is my favourite plane x3 Also, with all the sci-fi mumbo jumbo they could have come up with something to make some sort of technical wonder, like a secret prototype plane you can unlock or something. I absolutely would not have mind that x3
sadly I did expect no F-117, though I would have loved it (even as some unlockable Prototype Sci-Fi Upgrade of the original plane, that makes it like the best plane in the game xD), but it is clearly outdated and not even in use anymore by the air force. BUT no Tornado is a absolute crime =/
Shawn Morris the F-15/MTO was really fun to fly same with the MiG 1.44 and the Tornado they definitely downgraded a lot on the planes and how the tech tree works it’s disappointing
Ok, some planes i miss. As an example, i miss the F-117. I still miss the F-16 XL version (Deltawing Test) and the F-15 Active too. (AC 4). They also could add an weapon carrying version of the X-29 (looks like an S-47 Berkut, but smaller and older) and the first post stall plane MBB-Rockwell X-31 with some rockets (Never will happen, but so much fun in MS FSX). OMG, there are some other planes they could do. Mirage F1 (no delta wing configuration), lower in the tech tree, but pls the original F/A 18A and not just the Super Hornet (UARGH, that ugly, ugly, ugly engine intakes.) , the german F-104 G Starfighter "Widow maker" (cause the germans wanted a Ground attacker/Nuclear weapon carrier version, lol! It felt of the sky like flies, which created that second nickname). Also hardly missed: The Tornado IDS, with that Cluster Bomb (AC 4). And pls the mother of all following Su's, the one and only real thing Su-27.
That isnt very good for AC. I think it lacks planes like Tornado, MiG-23, Su-25, Mirage F-1. Then it would be good if it also had F-5, F-20, A-4, A-7, Viggen, Draken, maybe even some Chinese planes like JH-7, J-8 and J-10 or something rarer like L-159.
FromWitchSide well the game was just released, so maybe we’ll see dlc planes. But China isn’t too sharable with their stuff, and plus licensing issues. They only have handful of licenses from Military Aviation builders
Well, some older AC's had much more planes on release. Also DLC planes would most likely be paid ones, something Im not into. But I guess licensing planes from China is a point.
FromWitchSide They were also way easier to model? These planes look gorgeous. They have to take time to make them that way. I think for the game being delayed into oblivion they could add more planes on the side but I fine with what we got. I hope they can jump to focusing on DLC pretty soon to even make me consider buying the season pass because right now the only thing that’s going for it is the music. 🤷♂️
They need licensing for a lot of games and had to redo the models so...yea And give up hope on the Chinese planes. The Chinese government will never give the license to a Japanese company
@Drake Day Yes, they look good, are shiny and everything, but a lot of it is just due to textures and lightning, the models doesnt look so insanely good to be that time consuming. Also there are 6 Su-27 evolutions and 3 F-15 versions, while there are some differences, most on Su-34, you do cut a lot of workload by reworking one base model. Then we also got halfassed VR, and multiplayer doesnt seem to improved. Im going to play the game, its good that we have a proper AC game again, but as long as it is not going to be the best out of all, Im going to nitpick a bit as well.
The reason why there arent that many aircrafts yet in the game is because they have to remodel every plane due to the transition unreal engine 4. They probably will add in plane as dlc.
@@KoteDarasuum they probably will knowing all those special planes from infinity had objectives and if you completed an objective you got a free plane. So it probably will work in that manner when you think about it.
@@v1zz10n_5 idk. I mean I've seen this with gran turismo. They are redoing all their car models and they still aren't even close to the inventory they had. The only difference is that gran turismo is releasing their dlc for free. Ace combat 7 kinda feels like a money grab. I love ace combat but they seem fishy this year
Been playing Ace combat since the first one on PS1 and I got to say I love this game, big highlight being the soundtrack and the polished look. Just wish the story was a little longer. Really hope they make a sequel.
I loved Electrosphere! But my friend told me it got retconned. Which got me thinking: it should be it's own series. Remember that the entirety of AC3 never really happened. It was all just a simulation to train Nemo, an AI made by Simon. After that, he purged Nemo from the electrosphere and released him into the real world. It would be really cool if Namco made a second game starting from there. Maybe have more choices and an open world for Nemo to explore. And definetly include old aircraft with COFFIN makeovers, like the Nosferatu, XFA-27, and Z.O.E Falken.
Been playing the series since it came out in the 90’s. A lot of great updates added planes. I would say throw in a massive list of planes going back to WWII up to today. Every plane the series has put in and then add a few extra. I loved flying the warbirds from WWII. Nostalgic!
Yes mate, I agree. I just commented some of the Cold War planes like the Vulcan Bomber, or the Harrier or the Harrier Jump Jet would be great. Especially for some of the earlier missions.
They actually put F-15C and J. They're basically the same plane, come on... at the same time, we only have 2 dedicated attackers. Su-25, Tornado GR.4 and maybe Mig-27K were better options (and still are, for future DLC)
I'm a newbie and have only played ace combat 7, but Some more classic planes, like the Vulcan Bomber or Harrier Jump Jet would be great fun to try out on some of the earlier missions.
While the Vulcan has never appeared in an AC game to my knowledge, on mentioning the Harrier, many other the cooler older and more varied planes that featured in AC 4, 5, 0 and Infinity are missing. Similarly all the bombers that appeared in some of the newer games are missing, while many experimental and indeed interesting planes are purchasable dlc (most of which were free in the older AC games)... For example, of two the most versatile and useful planes early on in other AC games, the F4 and F5... The F5 isn't in the game, while the F4 was available as a pre-order bonus (how i got it) or as separately purchasable dlc (which i wouldn't have paid for) - indeed while i have the F4 in the game, i WANT to love it, but can't as its' stats have been downgraded, in particular it now seems to be made of paper! :_ .
I need at least the x-29 in there to buy this. Way too many other great planes omitted as well. I totally wish they just lifted the aircraft tree from infinity...with a robust selection of multiroles, fighters, attackers, and bombers.
@@xCentauri Like in game "price tags" or dlc? Ace combat 5, zero and infinity were like gran turismo with jets...hope we get a dlc package that gets some of that back
Maybe next game. I'd love the ability to pick 2 sub armaments, and modify your wingmen's planes, and give them commands. It's not an exaggeration to say everyone relies on Trigger to do everything in the game.
Ikhsan Majid This is bogus, they added the F-104 which was an interceptor yet I see no MIG-23 or MIG-25 not to mention it was built with killing bombers like the mentioned planes
Love this game so far. Just wish there were more vr missions. Also, nobody's gonna say anything about the F-15 F-16 A-10 F-22 F-23 +++on an aircraft carrier???
At first, I wasn’t really sure about this music because I was kinda hoping for a more tense theme for the final mission and was a little disappointed when I heard it at first but now it’s kind of grown on me a little more
Something I don't see in the hangar are moving objects and people. It can be a bad thing because it makes the hangar look deserted but at the same time, it is data that can be used else where.
No Panavia Tornado 😳 No F-117 🤨 No Dassault Rafale B 😠 No MIG-35D 😡 No B1 Lancer 😟 No C130 Hercules 😣 No SU30 MKI 🥺 No C-17 Globemaster 😥 No E-2 Hawkeye 😢 No Prowler 😭 I can't take this no more 😭😭😭
Been enjoying the game so far as I have for all the series except for that mess that was assault horizon, but that full plane list is rather disappointing and lackluster. It seems the series peaked with the plane list of ac5 with the wide variety of planes. I really liked the a-6 intruder, ea-6b prowler among others and hoped they would make a return
Would have preferred Falken and Nosferatu to Wyvern.... AC5 had so many more choices! And I seem to recall they showed you breaking the sound barrier too.
It inherits the more industrial look of the Cold War Soviet fighters, in comparison to the sleek looks of modern US aircraft. That doesn't mean the Russian aircraft look worse, it just has a different look to it that has it's own beauty to it
I'd love to buy this game, but I hate that you have to preorder to have gotten the F-4. I loved the Phantom to death, both in real life an in game. Affectionately known as the "schoolbus with wings".
@W J real aircraft that carry over 60+ missiles? And the missiles just respawn like magic onto the wings during flight? I prefer sci-fi planes over magic planes.
@@Slade951 SMH if they went full on real missions would be VERY short. I would rather have magic planes and good game play then sci-fi planes that ignore the laws of physics.
I'm an AC vet playing AC7 for the first time and i'm a little shocked how many of the older planes are missing, in particular how there are so few attacker jet are in the game and how many of the multirole jets have had their ground attack options nerfed, while many previously multirole jets are pure fighters now. For example, there's no F-117, Harrier, Tornado, Intruder etc, while many of the strike fighters like the F15E (or even just the F15J etc) are really expensive and impossible to get until the end of the game or likely after you've cleared it. While the A10 is great in some ways, since it's "as slow as Christmas" and hard to manoeuvrer, it's a near instant fail on an missions with mixed combat. The F16 is a pure fighter now while the Mir 2000 has limited ground attack weapons now - both used be some of the best jets for launching AGMs from, yet no longer have them. The F14D's Phoenix missiles can only be launched two at a time rather than six at a time, while the weird x8AAM it can now launch are terrible. In particular, i'm very annoyed and very disappointed that of the older jets that are in the game, most of them have been severely downgraded - for example, the F4 used be one of my favourite planes in the series, but it's now seemingly made of paper! I'm currently stuck on mission 12, "Defend Stonehenge", (which feels very weird when we had to destroy it in AC4) as none of the planes i have available look suitable to beat it... I tried initially in the A10 and while it mopped up the ground targets, it's too slow to chase the bombers and helicopters and while i passed the main part of the mission using an F4, i keep dying trying to kill the damn Arsenal Bird in less than two minutes... (I literally have this mission paused at my tenth retry at killing it as i type this.) I'm torn between the F18 and F14 for different planned attempts if my next few tries fail but then nothing else that i have unlocked right now looks suitable for the mission (short of maybe the silly cheaty futuristic pre-order planes, which i don't want to use and never went near in other AC games until i'd beaten their missions multiple times and had all the normal planes unlocked as i want to fly real jets - the X-02 feels just about real enough to fly alongside the other planes, but otherwise the other futuristic jets look like they belong in a space combat game!) Also while the weather, environmental effects and graphics are great, the story and characters are very meh, compared to the best games in the series when you felt part of an actual unit and were fighting for your country and survival, but the whole, "you're murderer/prisoner, ok now you've paid for "your" crimes" story and the random cut scenes of the captured Warbird mechanic don't do much to engage us in the game - all in i'd prefer a sequel to AC5 over the game we got, but MAYBE i'll feel different IF i beat this damn mission and unlock some more varied planes, but as said, they've changed too many of the old planes and left too many useful planes out of the game :_ .
@@benjamincoll4524 Well that's the thing, they were too dear, with several other things to unlock before them when I did to Stonehenge mission and I still don't have them at the point I am now with mission 13 or 14 completed. Overall the game needs more planes, particularly attackers and cheaper planes early on. I basically want all the planes we had in an AC game going back to the PS2 entries, along with new ones, but in particular any planes which already existed in the series should be free and not extra dlc as they actually are! 😯😂
One thing I really need to know before I buy this game; are you allowed to select any plane you want before each mission? Otherwise I'd have to pass on this. I remember playing _Blazing Angels_ on Xbox 360 and being incredibly frustrated to discover I couldn't go back and replay any of the missions with the new planes I'd "unlocked". Same with _IL-2: Birds of Prey._ I don't know why flying games do that, it kills the replay value big time.
