Got my biggest wish come true in 2017, met him in Seattle, got to talk to him and got to tell him what I always wanted to tell him how he's an inspiration, and he hugged me... Very cool... Very nice guy and so chill....
There's never been a cooler rockstar than Ace Frehley, Ace has had fun in his music career and that's the way it should be, Ace Frehley will always be my favorite member of Kiss.
@@jeffhodge7272 I know right, I mean you have Ozzy, Vince Neil, Keith Moon, Rick Allen and numerous others along with Ace, There's a lot of truth to the saying "Rock and roll will never die".🙏🚔
Robert Lee Pearce I agree that the first 3 albums were the best ones, and I also bought and liked Rock and Roll Over. On Destroyer, I only liked the radio played trax, Shout it Out Loud, Beth, and Detroit Rock City, but never bought the CD. Love Gun and Christine were good songs from the Love Gun CD, again I only heard the radio play trax. After that I liked Ace's Rock Soldiers, and New York Groove got a little radio play but not one of my favorites by Ace. Paul was a great song writer, but Ace's Lead solos is what I loved about Kiss the most. Now I pay $70 for an Ace Frehley show , and would never pay $500 to see Kiss. Paul and Gene get too critical of Ace's drug use, and rehearsal no shows. Who cares that Ace missed the European Tour and they had to cancel on the reunion tour? The Kiss barbie dolls and memorabilia are childish. I'm glad I gave Paul's interviews and documentaries a chance, and he's probably the most articulate member. I was wrong thinking that Ace wrote the best Kiss songs, but Paul did. I still think that Ace's lead solos make the first songs legendary instead of pretty good. I think Aces laughter on the Tom Snyders show is hilarious, and I'm glad Paul thinks it's at little funny. But seriously, I would have thought he was on LSD. Most drunks are totally obnoxious, but he came off only buzzed to me. Its cool to make new songs, but not just to make money. They could live off the original songs concerts and do fine. I think the Peter Criss comments that he's not the drummer he was and was never a John Bonham drummer are cruel. Thats the beauty of the early drum Trax, any semi-good drummer can duplicate them. the intro to Strutter is a classic opening drum riff. I could've lived without hearing the Ace dick stories when he was intoxicated. Peace
I got KISS on my 7th birthday in 1974. I ran to my room and played it over and over and over using a hockey stick as a guitar. I did chores in order to get money to buy each KISS album when they were released all the way up to Unmasked. After Peter and Ace left, KISS lost the magic for me. But those first six studio albums, KISS, Hotter Then Hell, Dressed To Kill, Destroyer, Rock and Roll Over and Love Gun were an important part of my youth. Alive! and Alive II were also awesome as well.
As a teen back then getting Hotter Than Hell LP after Alive and Destroyer then that Originals 3 pack , Strange Ways was one of the last sings I heard and thought that was by far the best solo .I did not know at the time he did not sing the song. It is a song that should have been done Live back in the 70s .
Ace was my very first inspiration. Ace is the reason I learned to play guitar. I'll never forget the first time I saw them live, Ace was playing his solo and he had the A C E flashing on his guitar, the smoking guitar... OMG that was it, man! I wanted to be Ace!
"Firehouse" was the first Kiss song I heard but "Let Me Know" was the song that hooked me in to ride the Kiss train back in the 70s. The jam at the end of the song rocks.
Listened to Hotter than Hell during the commute today. Killer songs...fine second release. The San Francisco show from that tour (commercially released) is a epic to say the least.
Ace is getting really good at interviews these days. I remember a Japanese Magazine thought Ace was half Japanese when they first went to Japan lol. Being half Japanese myself & the Hotter Than Hell cover, I was hoping for a “yes i am” lol. “Cocaine” makes sense with Peter being the bpm maker lol
First album Cold Gin. Second album - Parasite, Strange Ways and co wrote Comin’ Home . Third album Getaway. An excellent vocal by Peter. All this was well before Shock Me. He then produced the best solo album. The rest as they say is Kisstory. A true legend
Good taste in cars Ace. I love my old Jag too the lady we bought it from put sheep seat covers. I love it. Keep rocking Ace. I follow everything you do
Ace was always my favorite I would love to meet him and hang out with him for a day. I grow up listening to them. So ace think it possible I can meet and hang out with let me know.
I grew up on alive 2. The ace years are just epic. Its kiss. Even psycho circus. Ace brings magic to all those. I hope they can just do one more original session. Please.
Man,I luv Ace....would luv to hang out with him....Although know he doesnt party anymore, but Still....he is just freaking cool,I dont hang with anyone reallyIve got a lung tumor, but would with him....good show dude, keep it up peace!
Sorry to hear about your tumor. I will pray for you, with your permission of course. Don't let any diagnoses bring you down. You can beat it. Blessings and Brotherly Love from Wild Wonderful West Virginia. 🙏
this interview was awesome long time kiss fan saw them at Old Boston Gardens ages ago ...as a fellow recoverer I am proud of him having met him when we were both screwed up in 80's. . Ace Thumbs up bro.....decided to subscribe ....great interview
I first saw them on Aug. 16, 1977 (the day Elvis died). Fantastic show! My wife was pregnant with our first child and she remembers "Jeni" kicking her all night to Peter's bass drum. Me, I was blown away with Ace's guitar solo & just his stage presence. Very, very cool guy.
In a 1993 issue of Guitar World magazine both Dimebag and Dave Sabo of Skid Row interviewed Ace. All 3 were on the cover and the 2 guys wore Ace's makeup
I know ace has said before it was a slow process in him taking a lead vocal on a kiss album! But can you imagine if ace had been confident enough to sing on say the first 3 lps. What a treasure that would of been to hear him sing back then!!!!! Keep rockin ace !!!! Space ace Ron
In a way Daft Punk has still maintained their identity pretty well to this day since they started covering their faces in the mid to late 90's. Yes, there are photos of what they looked like when they were starting out, and some supposed recently photos. But I think it's very much possible today.
First song I ever listened to was either Shock Me or Ozone due to my big brother ,John must have been like two....was born in the '70's my older brother was five years older.....So love The Doors,Alice Cooper,Motley Crue and Many many other classic an punk .....and have Tons of Fav songs. But no matter what,Kiss was Always number one period. An also remeber when I was in elementary school, aid call the radio station asking them to play Kiss an nothing was ever played....that sucked bad....my favorite song period, out there is "Get Away"Did Not know Ace wrote that song!No shiznat!Literally thought it was. a Peter Criss song hinting about leavin the band an breaking ties was his old lady....lol.My first instrument I learn an I can still fiill a pocket,is the drums,an Everyday all day throughout the summer,I played Alive 2 over an over again lol Thanks for this video dude brought back some awesome memories,an great show btw!Hope to see more....adding you now, well subscribing....ty,again peace
What Ace Failed to mention and maybe because he really has a hard time remembering, But Kiss had most of that Material for their first three album shortly after they started. Some of those songs were actually written by some of the original Wicked Lester Members. Ace contributed to three songs that he gave to Peter Criss to sing and two he gave to Gene to sing, Not to mention how he also came up with that really cool intro to Rock Bottom. Those early Ace songs were 1. Getaway, 2. Mainline, 3. Strange Ways, That Peter did, 1.Cold Gin & 2.Parasite that Gene did vocals for. Strange Ways should have been played on the Alive album as it's one of the Best tunes on Hotter Than Hell. But in order to do that, one song would have had to have been discarded to make room for it. I believe the album would have been better if they had let go of C'mon and Love Me & Replaced it with Strange Ways. Kiss Destroyer wasn't a solid Kiss Album, as Ace didn't play on Sweet Pain or God of Thunder on that album. He was replaced for several tunes in the studio with Dick Wagner, Alice Coopers lead guitar player and the creator of the Welcome To My Nightmare album. He's an awesome guitar player. He also did an amazing job on those kiss tracks, but it wasn't Ace. Also they received a lot of songs for that album that they in fact didn't actually write. They did have quite a few tunes they had been working on at that time and decided to release those on a different Album a few short months later, and that album became Rock And Roll Over. Peter Criss played on every kiss recording except Love Gun, because he was having trouble with that tune in the studio. By the time Dynasty was being recorded, Peter Criss was recovering from a car crash that he had and Kiss hired Anton Fig for those recording sessions, However, Peter did play the drums on one song off of that Album, and that song was Dirty Livin'. Every other track on that album was Anton Fig on the drums. Peter only played drums on One Track on Psycho Circus, and if it wasn't for Ace insisting on Peter to drum on that tune, Peter would have been completely excluded from that album's recording sessions. I felt the need to explain the truth here as Kiss never gives the truth, Ace does as best as he can remember, but he also doesn't like to go out of his way to expose all the lies that Paul & Gene constantly spout. Like the BS of how Peter Criss joined. Gene Never mentions how he and Peter met and played together in the studio making recordings before Kiss, or should I say, Wicked Lester was in need of a drummer. Ace also did some early recording in the studio before joining kiss and I bet the story of how the ad that Ace answered was most likely BS too. But the band did put out some great music from 74-78 and even managed to put out the album Dynasty in 79 with great success. & even though that's what Ace called a Kissco Album, it was a great Album. The Song Hard Times was a left over tune from his 1978 solo album. It's one of the best tunes on that album. So there you have it. A fan that actually knows the truth. It took years to learn what I know. Peace..Joe
Isn't the picture (screensaver) host refers to, isn't that actually from the Dress To Kill-esque reshoot that was with Tommy and Eric, its not from the DTK photoshoot???
Ace did BASS on all Original Six KISS studio albums before the 80s Gene played in concert. Or was Overdubbed except in the 1990s wait Bruce did bass on all of Carnival of Souls.
Ace disses Hotter Than Hell a bit, but that is my favorite KISS album with Strange Ways and Hotter Than Hell - both anthems of stone age hard rock. Also both of this tracks showcase Paul and Ace as flashy rockers.
My favorite album in years yeeeeeah men fantastic music and sound bi lovet forever kiss alive the Best album forever okey guys okey ace frehley My friend tanks you so much okey bye
I liked Got to Choose the best, Parasite is good and I know Ace wrote it. Hotter than Hell is OK, I like the song Firehouse better. I agree with Ace that Kiss Alive is what made the band popular and I bought their first Kiss album, Dressed to Kill, and Kiss Alive. Me and my hi school buddies cut class, smoked weed to Kiss Alive, and went to the 1976 concert in San Antonio. If I could interview Ace, I would ask him which is his favorite guitar. I have a Gibson Les Paul and Flying V. I've seen Micheal Schenker play leads without a pick and I know I could do it too if I had a real quality guitar. Kinda like riding a Wheelie, I used to get a 10 foot wheelie, but not like the bad motor scooter riders did them.
No matter who does the interview with any particular rock star they always seem to ask the same lame questions never about the recording process itself which is what many die hard fans would love to know.
There is a six member German band called RAMMSTEIN who were inspired by KISS, big fire, lights and pyrotechnics. They wear a copper color face makeup. RAMMSTEIN is coming to America in 2021.
My first album was Rock and Roll Over . It was ok but not near as good as their first album . It was years after that I eventually listened to the first album . I felt gipped . ROCK AND ROLL OVER seemed so formulaic and slick in comparison .
I was a hardcore Kiss fan in my youth. The Hotter tha Hell album sounded sonically much better and darker than the first Kiss album. Although some of the songs from the first Kiss album became bigger after the Alive double album, I preferred listening to Hotter than Hell rather than the first album. Ace's solos was better on Hotter than Hell too. Unforgetable solos that I repeatedly was listenining to was from the songs Strange Ways, Going Blind, Parasite. Hotter than Hells 2 guitars double solo was cool too. I guessI I didn't like the sonically sound of the albums Kiss and Dressed to Kill. They should be re-mixed and re-mastered. Maybe even including a few re-recorded recordings. I would mix and master them better than the original ones.
Hey, you guys. I’m a fan but not quite the kisstorian any of you are. Is there any truth to the things Ace’s X is saying or is she just kooky or looking for money? . There private-lives were of little interest to me, I just grew up during the big Kiss craze in the 70’s, still love the material and have a soft-spot for Ace .. he’s probably why most of us picked up a guitar 🎸
She’s trying to do anything and everything to ruin Ace because he dumped her. I don’t believe it at all. As for as truth goes she has no proof she’s all talk.
Ryan u got a weird back drop thing going on man.......lol..looks like 70's stuff with the way the picture keeps popping in and out and around your neck...its kool....
Yes haha. It's my actual bookshelf, but not where I actually sat, so I used it as my Zoom background and it's, like, CGI haha... My chair disappears whenever I move!
It's quite dull and predicable when it's said that rock music today is generic, dead etc... maybe some of these people need to broaden their horizons, there's a hell of a lot of underground label / indies that are signing bands and releasing some excellent music. Unless it's in the mainstream it's as if it doesn't exist. It isn't 1976 anymore. It's not 1987 anymore, it isn't 1991 any more.
