As a guy who is just watching videos to try get some knowledge of how to climb I appreciate all the things I have learned to do (rigging branches and such) and also all the things I have learned NOT TO DO when climbing. One more really basic one is that in addition to not having a stopper knot on your lanyard, it is also the only means of support while you are cutting a few inches away from it. PS while a steel core flipline is not a safety device...with that dull a chain it would probably work :-)
Nice to see the full story of the preparartion needed for rigging, positioning, and just waiting. Like the way you left stubs to help with the climbing and rope capture.

The only real error here is constantly pushing his knee into the tree rather than just standing up on the gaffs. It kind of takes away from the “I’m too badass on the spikes to tie in” thing.
I promise you it would take like 2 seconds to save your life , tie a figure 8 knot on the tag end of that climbing line . If that line slips through the knot without that figure 8 you will fall out of that or any other tree !!!!!

+Greivin Solano if u climb on a 11 ml static with a 7 2 8 mil prusick and have a bowline with a 8 at the end it can never open , in 31 yrs its never happen
Not sure why ppl are making the argument for a bowline and a stopper/fig8 , why not use a scaffold like the rest of the world for that application . If you love the bowline and can't Yosemite it , if you can't tie a scaffold , you may be a treeman… but you're not a proper treeman .

Sometimes to work a tree down properly , you need stubs . Not sticking up for this gentleman ,Bill haha . I can guarantee that August has cut off a stub he could've used . Not just the good climbers either , pretty much all of them have . I know I have, more than once .

Paul Tanner super old techniques he should spend a little bit more money on safety equipment like a steel cord lanyard mechanical prusik and why does he not have a chain break
How about instead of ripping the name ACE tree service off you use one that suits you much better. How about HACK tree service. Cut off chain break, bowline termination, natural crotch rigging on top of your lifeline and no termination on taut line which in itself has been condemned as an unsafe climbing prusik. Keep on natural selection will catch up with you bud.
