Whitebeard died in peace knowing that pirates future is still bright. He saw the "Will of D" in Luffy. At first, WB considered Luffy just some big mouth brat but the moment Luffy save Ace from execution using conqueror haki, WB knew that Luffy is something special. He came at marineford to protect Ace bcoz he considered Ace to be the inheritor of "Will of D". But as the war unfolded, he knew that Luffy may be the another possible inheritor of "Will of D". WB knew the importance of Will of D and he told Black Beard that he cannot be the one Roger was waiting for

The fact that no character as of now in the series could get even near to Whitebeard's strength is kinda funny in my opinion. While there are quite the powerhouses none of them seem to be getting nominated for the World's Strongest Man as of now.

What are you talking about??? What strength exactly? WB does literally nothing during his entire screentime, compared to other characters. And then he gets bitched on, achieves nothing, can't even harm sakazuki and dies. What show did you watch? Can't have been One Piece
