Acer 5736Z no power/not charging - water damage - motherboard repair 

I've been in the HVAC&R service business for over 40 years. Modifications & work-around's are an everyday requirement to "get it working". I am surprised that its no different with micro electronics. Your video's and troubleshoot methodology have inspired me to start a new hobby. I've set up a small electronics test bench and started servicing my own old discarded computers and phones. Don't let others tell you that your methods are dodgy or sloppy. Your doing real-world repairs on used equipment "your not Factory reconditioning service!". God bless you for providing real training and inspiring others.

I learned to repair motherboards, and I have been successful in these repairs! I was already passionate about electronics and I was only repairing ATX power supplies, I thought that repairing the motherboard was complicated but thanks to your explanations I am only improving. Yes you are a gentleman, I found a LARGE amount of money also one day at a store and I turned it in to the manager. They probably thought I was crazy. Maybe BUT I had my 10 year old son with me and needed to show him YES there are HONEST people in this world. I dont need their money I have my own. THSANK you Sorin for being HONEST. It shows.

Some repair shops charge after the repair, so I think your customers are very lucky. Besides, what choice have they got but to go elsewhere or buy a new laptop. You are a fair man and your customers will soon realize this, they will come back again and no doubt recommend you to others. All in all, you win some, you lose some. Your time and knowledge is money, you need to pay your staff and the overheads. Do really want to reward the miserly in this world by leaving yourself short? Make'em pay up!

I buy joblots of laptops and maybe 1 in 15 is easy like this one with a shorted cap, massive difference between a repair shop and trying to repair laptops that other people already tried to repair and have all sorts of weird problems... Thank you for your work, I could say 80% of what I know it's from you :)

I'm doing the same with my customers... now i've started to call customers on real time (or using whatsapp with photos) to give update infos... and wait for decisions (if the work is something complicated... difficult to diagnose)

I have a question, when pouring petrol over the suspected area of motherboard while applying 19 volts, why it does not create further short circuit? In other words why it does not damage the part of that circuit where petrol is poured? What is the logic? Is petrol works as an insulator? Please explain in details. Thanks.

Hi my friend (please allow me to call you like this) a Quick question :how do you know that the mosfets is on 19v Power rail and not in 5v i.e? Also you remove a cap how you are sure that mb will functional for a long period? Very good and fast repair in my opinion

In the beginning of the video the fact that you didn't get a reading on the charging port with diode mode, is that an indication of a short being present? And how would you know if a component is open?

Mr Sorin Is it a good thing to have a infrared thermal scanner that show which component is getting hot ?

Nice job, I learnt alot from you. I wana ask you something about my laptop, few days ago I accidently dropped beer on the keyboard. Since then my laptop doesn't detect the graphic card. A calssic reflow with a hot air can be a solution? (it's using only the integrated intel graphic)
