Lots of empty space because making the battery bigger would make the laptop cost more which they're trying to avoid on a budget machine. 53wh is actually really good at that price
to be honest, manufacturers should make a low powered machine with a pentium processor and add a humungous battery so that it lasts twice as long as the macbook air, I think that would be a good selling point
A cheap laptop is one thing. A inexpensive quality laptop is another. I LOVE Acer, and have bought 8 computers from them in the last 7 years for myself and family through their Acer Recertified Store. That includes 2 - 7yr old ones that supposedly didn't meet Windows 11 requirements and had no problem upgrading to W11. Even the more recent W10's that say they won't upgrade on Acer's site have upgraded just fine. Few are returns for a problem that are then fixed and recertified. Only 1 of mine seems to have been and it came with an upgraded and faster processor than advertised. Many large businesses buy new computers every year and return the used and unused ones for credit.
@@gregwhite5369 acer makes truly horrendous products, but at the same time make incredible products through my experience. Like my Acer Chromebook CB3-111 had solid build quality, whereas the Aspire E5-521/571 had terrible build quality and their hinges broke in the exact same spot. I also got a new spin 3 sp313-51n which is the best laptop hands down for the price I got it at.
Love the videos, my wife uses Macs but I wonder, would you use a laptop like this or a workstation laptop that was refurbished and had former flagship specs for the same price? For home or local usage only I have other things that I use for travelling?
Acer 317 chromebook review (just purchased this and the speakers are weak). -San Francisco fan girl Any recommendations for a 15 inch chromebook with touchscreen, backlit keyboard & full hd?
Thank you Dayo. I was planning on purchasing the Aspire 5 because its on sale in bestbuy (except it has the i5 core processor). After watching your review I won't be. There are other issues apparently with it. As well as the bad display, the laptop has thermal issues and loud fan noise which is a big no no for me.
Great video, thanks! 💜 I’m still impressed, knowing this laptop is only around $370 (after taxes) including a Windows license. It’s probably not the most sustainable (in many respects) laptop though. So don’t buy new crappy stuff. Buy used less crappy. For a bit more you can get a really nice used i5 or i7 MacBook that will beat this toy on so many levels. And it might actually outlive it, especially when you run OCLP to squeeze out a couple or two of extra years of system updates.
Also pretty sure the laptop was paging with the 4gb of ram on the computer which is too low. It is not the processor or ssd causing problems. If you pop in a 4gb or 8gb stick of ram in the laptop into the spare ram slot, the performance will be better
We get it you hate Acer, in all my many years of working on PC's, and upgrading laptops I've never once smelled it LOL. I've used Acer Desktops since 1997 and never had a single issue with one. Also had an Acer Laptop for 10 years and it's still going strong, I think the problem with this laptop is Windows 11 and your lack of patience, knowing Windows is going to take time. It's not a mac book dude ha. Even my Ipad took forever to get going. But yes a CHROMEBOOK is the quickest on the market and I'd highly recommend it over THIS for only $169 on Targets website. :O). I have two HP laptops, one is 9 years old and the other i got brand new, and it's a 2016 model I5. And it rivals anything today, with my upgrades. I hate windows 11 anyway. lol
@@drummer7557 I don’t know where this animosity is coming from, at least from what I’m reading. I’ve too have had Acer laptops since early 2000s. In fact, one of my most popular videos on this channel ever IS the Acer Aspire 5, last year’s model, which I still think is better in every way possible, including the smell. Chromebooks are good since most apps are done through the browser, but entry level windows laptops need to offer more. MacBooks are in another price tier so I don’t see the need to compare apple at all in budget laptops.
OK so seriously who smells their computer ??? If you don't like Windows use a Mac or load Linux. I don't know what company that makes computers to order for each person so you get one with all updates already installed. Crap you don't even get software downloads that don't need updates ! If you want all space filled up and more than 4GB's of RAM then don't buy a budget laptop. Acer sells laptops with all the bells and whistles for a few grand ! After 8 1/2 mins I'm done with your vid. Obviously you know almost nothing about computers !
