You should buy a fine tip soldering iron, heat station and fine solder to do repairs like this. These tools are not expensive. Hakko clones are pretty good.

What was the purpose of injecting 3v to confirm the ceramic capacitor was generating heat if you could just use multimeter to identify the faulty capacitor??
