Hi I want to get one this year and your review was by far the best so just a question does it need a special pen for laptops or will my tablet Bluetooth pen do for drawing and I wanna use it for games will tha work too :)
Thank for your review, I'd like to know if it's good for drawing (buying a USI pen) and if it's preferable to Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5, with it's Celeron 5205U... Same price, but with USI pen included. Someone tells me that ARM cpu supports better android apps, but intel one's are better overall, it's quite difficult to compare them. Thanks!
Thanks for stopping by. It's great for drawing, although I didn't try with a pen. I would say the Intel is great overall but not in a way that you'd feel you're losing out on not buying it. ARM is better for Android apps
Thanks for your really professional looking review 👍 Have just realised that the AUE on my trusty old Acer R11 runs out in June. With the UK price for the 513 now down to £279 (in the UK), this looks like a potentially great replacement for me - with similar form factor, but much better screen and and battery life. The price drop is due to a new higher spec 513 (with 3:2 screen) due out next month - but as that is likely to start around ~£599, that is too much for me as I am also saving for an iMac desktop. BUT getting back to your 513 review, my only main concern is the Snapdragon 7c processor - as many of the early reviews of the 513 (about a year ago) implied it was a bit underpowered. Am not sure if you are still using it, but have you encountered any lagging or performance issues? Or have you seen it actually improve with subsequent ChromeOS updates? Many thanks...
Yere I suggest you dont get the snapdragon version which is 299.99 get the mediatek kompaino 1380 because it is just wayy faster compared to snapdragon version the media tek version also has SD Card slot and sim slot

BUT yes, I did go for the Kompanio (ARM) powered version thanks - and managed to get it for the absolute bargain price of £399 (as I think the store got confused with the silly Acer model numbering system). The Spin 513-2H is brilliant - TOTALLY SILENT (as no fan) and runs almost COLD - despite me regularly having more than 20 tabs open across 5 desktops! Also love the excellent 3:2 screen (2256 x 1504 px) - the same display as on the previous flagship 713 model. Thanks again - as for less than £400 I couldn't be happier...👍
Mine is the US spec silver model. Same except we don't get the sim slot. Walmart $349 US. I've used it daily for two months, a recent Chrome update seems to have improved performance. No hard numbers just to my eye it's better. When I switch tabs from say Amazon to RU-vid there was stutter in the video, now it's gone.
Ha! Ralph, which version of chromeos are you on at the minute? I'm using the beta channel and I find the performance a bit disappointing from time to time. Are you on the stable channel? If so I might switch to that....

I was watching Chromebook unboxed and they gave it a bad rating for this laptop. But you didn't seem to have any problems so I'm not understanding maybe it's case by case basis cuz I'm looking at this at Walmart right now as a backup laptop to my ASUS VivoBook because I don't have a Chromebook I have windows laptops any advice I would appreciate..
Hi, honestly I had no problem with it and I was surprised myself . Multiple apps, loads really quickly and android triple a games. This was using it for two weeks and a little so maybe it changes after months? I don’t know that yet
Hi, thanks for the very nice video! I have a question: Can you use e.g. One Note, MS Office etc offline? I need a device for school and the WLAN does not always work. And is it possible to use MS Office on it, or only the Google version?
Tough sell! £400 for 4GB/64GB slow storage is hard to recommend to anyone other than certain markets. Enterprise or students would be my best guesses. For many years being a ChromeOS user, 4GB is simply no longer good enough as I run Android and Linux and with the GPU sharing, that 4GB makes for a less than perfect experience. The 64GB is okay, but eMMC, in 2021 at £400, no thanks. Intel works really well on ChromeOS, so I would probably not want the Snapdragon 7c, even an 8th-gen i5 flies, so get a cheaper older Intel is my suggestion?
This is interesting. I have the same Chromebook and it looks like I managed to buy a different version - has no SIM slot and keyboard backlight, yet still it was £399 at argos ... yours seems to be the "jonh lewis exclusive" version? Doh ... I probably should've waited a bit more as I ordered it the day it came out and to be honest I don't find the performance that convincing as you said it is ... Weird - same device, different experience?
@@GadgetsBoy I think you should be honest about the performance, Even swapping app as you show it in the review look lagging and very slow for 2021 chromebook which should run ver smooth for basic task regardless the process Just to look lagging and not smooth while scrolling apps is already bad sign! You can't till me you have noticed how slow it is for this very simple task, unless you haven't watched your own review, because it very clear!
