So helpful. Thoroughly researched, clearly presented and deeply informative - a prime example of a refreshingly minimalistic review: everything the user needs to know and not one bit more.
I've just bought one of these and I'm very happy, one slight gripe is that if the keyboard is not lit up 100% it produces a high pitching coil wine, great to see that covered here. Thanks!
I've just bought one and there's no coil wine. There's also a fingerprint sensor (i3), so I'm sensing my model is different from yours. I'm from Europe, maybe they've fixed the coil wine issue in newer devices?
Sadly my Spin 713 with i5-1135g7 is not on the list of Chromebook Plus upgrade, while in theory it should perform as comparable to an i3-1215U device......
Oof. That sucks. From a brand messaging standpoint, I get why Chromebooks need to at least have a 12th gen Intel processor to get the Chromebook Plus upgade. It makes for an easy to understand cut off line in regards to which Chromebooks qualify for Chromebook Plus. And it also helps market that Chromebook Plus come with the "latest & greatest" specs. From the user standpoint though, the criteria is rough. It's frustrating that Chromebooks with fairly capable specs are getting left out simply for having a 11th Gen Intel processor. It's really unfortunate.
The i5 config still suffers fom the coil whine issue, and, if it comes with the non-touch screen, the screen will be pretty dim. If you can live with those downsides, I think the i5 version would be worth it.
