Wow! So looking forward to this product launch - and selling my current high end laptop to make way for it! Finally a cost effective alternative to a certain well known hybrid. If done right, this could destroy the competition. Well done Acer.
Barely any attention was given to this work of art. Now the new Surface Pro comes with merely a fanless i5 while this already offered a fanless i7, and still gets all the spotlight...
Very good looking and interesting product! I will definitely add this to my shopping list, along with Asus Transformer 3 Pro, HP Spectre x2, Dell XPS 12, and Surface Pro 4. But chances are that I won't be able to find this in any of the local electronics mega stores, small computer shops or any online store. Not a lot of stores carry Acer products these days. I wish Acer had a stronger market presence here (Sweden). IMHO, Acer is more than what many people give it credit for. This product is a good example of that. Let me know the next time Apple makes a liquid-cooled, high-performance, 2-in-1 tablet/laptop convertible at an affordable price... given the current dual nature of its operating system environment it will probably never happen in the foreseeable future. If it's one thing I don't like on this product is the busy and messy key layout around the arrow keys. Yes, I am one of those 1% keyboard users who care about the right control key or the lack thereof. I also use Home and End keys often and I would not want to be forced to press the Fn key in order to bind Ctrl key with Home or End key. That's 3 keys and 2 hands (Fn+Ctrl+Home) as opposed to 2 keys and 1 hand (Ctrl+Home). I really don't need volume control on the up and down keys either. That just adds to the noise and confusion. So please sort this out, and there is a good chance I will buy it... if you make it available in my country. As of this writing I was unable to come up with a distributor or a store that carries this.
This really could have been an amazing device... The lack of thunderbolt and mediocre stylus interface make this a slightly better surface clone that doesn't throttle as badly. It would have been really nice to see Acer make this tablet compatible with its egpu dock, instead of its sub par Intel core m 2-in1 counterpart. Oh well, it just seemed like a missed opportunity to me.
16:10 or 16:9 is good for watching videos, but for working formats like 3:2 is very good, it allows you to have two things next to each other but both of them are still long enough vertically (on 16:10 two windows next to each other are often wider than necessary but to short vertically) and if you use the tablet in landscape mode the format is like a piece of paper, ideal for taking notes with the pen.
+djayjp I'd rather say each format is suitable for certain purposes. You should think about what programs you use before buying a device and if they profit more from a wider or higher display. As I already said, for multitasking and office programs 3:2 is good, but I can imagine for video or music creation/editing 16:9/16:10 can be better.
Roman Guro Its actually alright, synaptic has improved a lot and its hard to tell the difference between 1024 and 256 unless your doing really heavy art!! the latency is really good as well! its not surface pro level but its not a bad stylus by any stretch!!
What's the stylus tech here? If I'm not mistaken the old Acer stylus was mediocre Synaptics with only 256-level pressure sensitivity. Hope that's been updated in order to compete with 2016 stylus tech from MS, HP etc.

Does the cooling actually look like that? Does that mean it won't cool if the tablet is layed flat on a table? I can already sense trouble. I hope this comes with a M core processor option.
No, its a closed water cooling loop powered by heat generated from the processor. It works regardless of the orientation because there is (hopefully) no air inside of the loop.
does this device can handle games? idk if im going to ms surface4 m3 or acer alpha 2 w/ 8gb of ram i5 processor. surface 4 price $900 and acer $700. pls help.
Its a great device, but its an extreme disappointment that backlit keyboard is optional and not included. BTW, Acer guys would be great enough to give me an complimentary Switch Alpha 12 ? - Let's See...

+GiveLove777 It has a USB Type C port that was shown to output to multiple 4k monitors. So the answer is most likely yes, that USB C port is also a thunderbolt port, it will probably work with the dock.
This probably wont work with razer core without a bios that can accept the razer core, acer does have a thunderbolt eGPU that has a GTX960M. Maybe acer can make it work with razer core, id be glad if it does have TH3.
+GiveLove777 Razer have said that their core supports any Intel powered computer made by any manufacturer. So long as that computer has USB Type C Thunderbolt and has the external GPU drivers up to date (provided by Intel by right). So long as the manufacturer itself doesn't block it/remove that capability.
I just got off the phone with both Acer and Dell technical support. Both determined that the max resolution for external monitors connected to this device is 1920 x 1080. Hey, wait a minute... In the video above, it says I can output to two 4K monitors. But after buying the computer, I learn that I can't even output to ONE!?! ... *$#&?@! ... My first Acer computer -- and it will probably my last. ... Learn from my mistake, viewers.
Unfortunately, neither Acer tech support or customer service can give you a link or even a name of a specific dock to buy. A dock that they show and reference in the above video.
After a month of back and forth with Acer, Dell and B&H Photo, I finally figured out the problem. I tried to connect to my monitor via the HDMI port. What I needed to do was connect through the DisplayPort port. What I needed was a USB-C to DisplayPort cable. ... Everything is up and running now and looking good. Still, it would've been nice if Acer Support had been a little more helpful. Or at the very least, they should have responded to some questions with, "Sorry, but we don't know."
I was just looking into getting an adapter for mine (since it doesn't look like Acer has a dock available yet), and wasn't sure which to go with, or if it even mattered. Thanks for the heads-up. Did you try connecting to a regular HDTV with your HDMI adapter?
I might just go to get a replacement keyboard. I would give to you guys but Tuesday is school and I need my laptop so if I don’t get a replacement keyboard I’ll tell you guys.
